I think that the boosting channel should be somethin you opt-into if you decide not something you should opt-out of. By that I mean that new players/characters should not be opted in automatically into /trade(services).
Other than that I have no issue with it. You are free to spend your money however you want.
Why not? It’s just trading and grouping, isn’t it? What’s bad about that? This is a multiplayer game after all, isn’t it? Why wouldn’t you want players to join the boosting channel? What’s wrong with that?
You are pretending its just a WoW “problem”. Go read FFXIV Limsa’s chat, full of “Gil” sellers. Open google: Write “Game X boosting” and you will find a gazzilion of websites.
This is not the 2000s when there were so few “working” websites and people where pretty much amazed that you can “talk” in WoW and the word “boosting” was pretty much unknown at the time.
Times change.
So if you think that WoW is P2W. Then pretty much absolutely every MMO game at least is P2W.
That first image is full of chinese. Even i as someone who plays this game for quite a long time do not know what it means. And for that 2nd one you have to go actively search for.
I don’t think new players got the idea this game is only playable by microtransactions.
Yep you are right they dont. For all i know no one ever looked at my Transmog. But i reserve the right to make my character look however i want to look.
No. Blizzard allows it, facilitates a nice channel for them, and make it convenient for players to find the services they’re looking for.
Isn’t that why the channel exists, why they advertise there, and why players buy their services?
Who’s unhappy about that?`
Who cares about bots? Don’t we all just mind our own business? I don’t care about others. Why should I care about bots? I can just ignore them, can’t I?
Like i said; i think new players should not get the wrong impression the game is only playable by microtransations. And currently that isn’t the situation either.
There could be ton of reason on why someone might decide to invest in a boost that does not directly translate into “playing less”, people might have little time and need to decide where to invest it.
Could be wanting to skip a game mode that you dislike, like M+ for example, but still want to have decent gear for your raiding nights of progress.
Maybe you don’t have time to commit to both.
Could be not having time to farm gold or mats and thus resorting to buying the token to keep your balance afloat while doing your activities you like.
All things you would have to invest time yourself even if you did not want to.
Tbh. Unless the said “new person” first ever video game he tried was WoW. Most people are already used to it. Its not the 2000s anymore. Whenever I join a any MMO and see boosting “adds”. I think it comes with the turf now.
Maybe a gamer who slept in a deep sleep from the 2000s and now woke up, might be actually surprised…
Why is that a wrong impression if it is part of how you can play the game fair and square? Why hide one of the ways to play the game that is totally legit and fair?
I mean, when i now join a game that is clearly showing everywhere ping ping ping, i am out. I know a lot of games have it, but i also know what it means.
