TBH, the persons that don’t might like this xpac, or worst, consider BFA better, are people that are actually looking and measuring a game starting from THE STORY.
While, the most played games in the world, creme de la creme, are games that have been developed arround GAMEPLAY/MECHANICS FIRST. Counter-Strike, Dota/LoL, Overwatch, even Diablo. Those games started with the GAMEPLAY, and they got story over them after the game was at a HIGH quality state of GAMEPLAY.
Shadowlands has a MEDIOCRE/GOOD story based on something totally NEW, unwritten. But the gameplay and it’s core mechanics are great.
Sure class balance sux, sure even some specs are missed, but that will always be a thing when you have 12 classes with 36 SPECS. It will never be a balance, and all classes will have their counters and will be nemesis for some classes.
Imagine comparing other genres of games to an RPG like WoW especially shooters. Gameplay in SL and core mechanics good? What a joke.
Same here, except I do keep a sub because I’m still enjoying leveling characters in classic. Only hopping to retail to post auctions and keep feeding tokens.
Well even my wife who has been playing WoW as the only game for the past years and fought me over and over when I was saying that wow is literally trash now days, stopped playing , and started playing Dota and other games. It’s the first time I have ever saw her playing something else, beside the casual “I am trying this but I don’t like it only because you told me to try it”.
Tells a lot of the uber trash WoW has become.
Like all Blizzards game lately, not just WoW. It’s just the overall politics of Blizzard that competes for Milking speed lately not gaming professionals .
Will not surprise me if once the top notch of gaming industry becomes just another “china copied game” to milk some loot boxes for 5$ a day to give you a 30 days mount.
As in the legal term for “Cool story bro, but just your opinion”.
The very use of this term highlights a lot of the problems.
Just examine that. ‘Gaming Professionals’.
That isn’t what a game should be about. Every time I see the terms ‘Professional Gamers’ or ‘Casuals’ I kind of just recoil and go “How did you people stop getting the -point- of video games?”
They are supposed to be a game, they are supposed to be for fun, this conceit of ‘E-Sports’ is just that. A Conceit. Computer games are things you do for fun. They are not Sports on some level like football or rugby or tennis, because they are about mathematics. When they make ‘Professional Accountancy’ an Olympic Sport, then I will concede that playing a computer game is a sport, the way that top end raiders do it, until then, they’re simply playing computer games wrong. You want to be good at the game, fine? So get good at the game, don’t try to Min-Max it like some trash tier pleb in an RPG tabletop game.
-Everyone- who plays an MMORPG should be what is defined as a ‘Casual’. Because it is supposed to be a -GAME- not a -JOB-. If you are not playing a computer game simply for enjoyment, as a game, then you are 100% missing the point.
If you are just playing it as a mathematical exercise then you are completely missing the point. The Instant you start counting up stats and magic items level to see if someone is ‘worthy’ then you’re not really playing an MMORPG anymore are you?
I mean you can be an absolute expert at playing a game, without being pretentious and calling yourself a ‘professional’, you’re just very good at that particular game. That is all.
Whatever happened to people when we stopped simply playing computer games for fun, as it’s own reward?
you missed the whole point from just one word…I was referring to blizzard as gaming professionals as the standard of gaming since forever , well not forever since before Activision and China Town moved into the business, not as the professional gamers, because there is nothing PRO in WoW or HS for that matter. HS is too RNG away to be an esport and WoW, believe me should not even try to meet the word Esport ( this is just because you opened the subject not because it was on point), they only remotely started doing the streams and first to whatever and the HS competitions because the content consuming industry is working like a charm hence they threw another milking hand there also.
Regarding the empirical thing, your opinion is empirical too. But you would know what I was talking if you would have witness the fights.
Oh yeah, I mean my opinion is totally empirical, I mean, that is all it can be, unless I worked at Blizz.
In which case I apologise, I thought you meant -players- being described as ‘Professionals’, rather than the expectation of -Blizzard- to be a Professional company. Of which the latter is obviously not an unrealistic expectation.
I played rift at launch and 8 months after that loved it sadly my friends are crawled back to WoW and that was the end of that. Closest mmo i ever got to playing something else.
Same here played it pretty hardcore, it was very good everything was developed well, , until , as with alot of western publishers, the top brass got greedy went FTP and had tier sets and other gear for cash in there game store that in the end destroyed the game
If by Warhammer, you are referring to AoR, I anticipated it’s launch. Mainly because I was bored with WoW at that time. I liked some of the models, the mixed combat style of some classes (healing to be able to damage and vice versa), the RvR (DAoC style). But for my taste, its graphics, movement and the interface, was very poorly designed. Unimaginably poorly. Too bad. It had good potentials. I even missed it, and played for several days (private server). But…
