The hell? My dude up until this expansion I used to play on toaster (in a sence literally as you could probably make make toast on the the way it was overheathing) and while the performance of the game was not great it was playable. Hell the one I got now isn’t all that good either and I have no issue performance wise on the highest settings even in raids.

Why would they? I mean the cities are mostly of interest only to RP-ers. Like whats there really to do or talk about in a city? “LFM X dungeon/raid” and “WTB/WTS X item”? Oh yeah lets not forget “Selling SM leveling boost” and “GDKP run starting soon. /w for invite”. Amazing.
Same .i am playing on a nvidia 3050 6gb card with i5 13420 processor and the game runs well .i dont know why some people cry about buying a new pc every expansion .

A tale as old as classic, weird part is tho sod+ objectively does look neat what they’re doing with it yet you still get the occasional classic man making posts like this
I feel like its usually people with a chip on their shoulder about the new design who really want to be proven right that classic is objectively better.
Imo I see it more as a personal choice which people find better.
Yeah I am feeling the World soul sagas potential to become a bit of a golden age rp wise

Well is not my experience with retail.
I bought my current pc in 2019 mid BFA, I was raiding seriously with a mythic guild at the time, when the game moved to shadowlands i already started to suffer performance losses of 10-15 fps in raid compared to BFA.
In dragonflight it got even worse, when I logged in Valdrakken i had to wait for things loading up even if I was already in the game: my character or some enviroment objects like benches sometimes even entire areas wheee the PvP vendor are, i could not even zone a n because the area inside was all a black void.
Yesterday i did a test just for fun.
To open the game from launcuer i waited 1 min and 21 seconds.
From the login screen to the character selection screen 54 seconds
To the character selection menu to full load (thanks for nothing Warbands) 1 minute and 12 seconds
To load into the game (character was in Orgrimmar) 1 min and 48 seconds plus another 35 seconds of waiting because some assets where not yet loaded like my character or other players i could only see mounts and pets.
All of this without using any addons because in retail i just log in, i buy a mount with tenders and then log off.
On my PC i have a Nvida 2060, gpu i dont remember, I am on the phone currently and I will be back home in the evening.
Compared to Classic where i have no issues at all like this i have to choose with my pockets first, If I join a MC pug even if there are 40 players in certain that i keep 60+ fps for the whole raid, same as is in Cata Classic even if thats where visual bloat started happen.
But in Cata i stopped raiding (because all guilds there now have that insane schedule wend/sund 20/23) so i just farm gold in Cata 
And to add more context when i play BG3, hogwats Legacy or MH world the game starts istantly and the loading Times are less than 20 seconds.
It all depends on the content you are interested, if your aim is just doing some WQ and a few Heroics dungeon absolutely, if you want to raid on mythic and push for CE probabibly not.
Ok for WoW GPU really doesn’t matter. Also is WoW on your HD or SSD? And finally tbf 6 years is alot of time to go without any hardware upgrades (I should know, I usually play on toasters and only upgrade/buy new PCs when their on their last breath), especially if your PC componets aren’t optimized with each other.

Fun camping for rares or doing some event, then randomly the server happily decides to displace you to a dead shard putting your rare timer count out of whack and reseting progress for events… 
Just hunt rares at 01:30 dummy !

Is your game installed on nvme, on SSD or on HDD?
How many addons do you have enabled? How long is the loading time if you disable every addon?
Have you set your PC power options to High Performance or do you have it on Balanced / Power Saver?
I play on a Ryzen 5 1500X from 2016 at stock 3.5GHz clock (I have disabled the default OC it had enabled). Up till last summer I had a RX560 with 2GB VRAM graphics card from 2017. Now I’m on RX7600 w/ 8GB, but again I have intentionally limited in-game FPS to 30 and enabled Radeon Chill to ensure it never goes beyond that. Game is installed on Samsung 980 nvme on a motherboard with PCI Express 3.0 from the mid 2010s.
I haven’t used a stopwatch, but pressing Play opens up the game in around 15-20 seconds. Selecting a character with all my addons sees me in-game around such time too.

That just isn’t true. I just replaced my old PC that i had for 7 years. never change a thing about it since I got it.
That is one of the great things about WoW, it runs on potatoes.

No on SDD, but also i dont think 6 years should be a lot of time, considering that I spent 2k to buy that pc especially if its pourpose is just playing, if I have to spend 2k every 6 year for a new pc is cheaper to move to consoles considering that I have way more exepenses compared to 6 year ago (car, judo, kickboxing and general investements to dont have to rely only on my pension when i will retire)

On retail i play with 0 addons installed, so all those time i picked are based as that.

Why don’t you people who like Classic and dislike retail stick to one or more of your twenty Classic iterations and let people who enjoy retail continue to do so?
