WoW on Gamepass

I managed to grab this from Mr GM’s tweet and copy it before he deleted it.

For context, it’s a speculation post

It’s not real, it’s a mock up.

I think we’re all waiting to see if it ends up on gamepass though. Will be cheaper for everyone. But that’s also the reason I don’t think it will end up on the pass.

Ahhh Thanks, he never said this on his original post and it was deleted.

He probably posted too soon!!!

We’ve all been there

For me it’s often a damn typo I didn’t notice until AFTER I’ve hit post.

It won’t go to GP.

The base game of ESO did on console only,

WoW doesn’t really have a base game anymore.

The might throw classic on it to try and fish some in, but the retail will remain unchanged.

They do give away a lot of ESO cosmetics to game pass members (that usually end up on prime gaming as well) so you might see more of that happening

Can forsee the subscription part of the WOW monetisation being moved to GP with the expansion released being still paid for.

That way they can roll in wow upto current expansion + classic into the GP.

Wouldn’t adding a wow sub to the game pass be throwing money away ?

It wouldn’t be bringing in any new customers, your just possibly reducing how much a few/some/enough/many are already paying to have both.

Not necessarily, Gamepass would open them up to more customers and they would make more sales off shop sales and such.

For all we know they could make it part of their top tier pass which is currently £12.99 a month, and you know WoW players would see it as a huge bargain and newer players would upgrade just to check and maybe play more, plus expansions would still need to be bought to play max level content.

The ESO sub isn’t included, nor are the expansions.

And it’s probably the closest comparison there is

I said it back in Shadowlands, there is an example of an MMO on Gamepass: Elder Scrolls Online.

ESO on Gamepass gets you the base game (aka the same as you’d have playing for free), you get a 10% discount on their currency. You still have to sub and buy the current expansion.

So I really doubt you’ll get more for WoW, IF it would go on Gamepass (as ESO its only the console version).

And sadly some of us would see it as a money grab as I have no interest in any of the games they have on Gamepass, so it would be a £3 per month hike for no reason.

Unless they were to have them both at the same time and give you the option

This is why I don’t think it will happen.

They aren’t going to forego all that income.

I understand the concerns, we will just have to wait and see won’t we, but there is a silver lining…

Borrowed from Belluar

lol until they hire him back a month later at 3x his typical rate

Shivers

God I hope not, that man has been a blight on this franchise.

i think it would go to steam like everything else before game pass

Maybe so, but they would also loose almost all profit from the sub. Anyone who currently has a sub and a gamepass would simply give them less money, which doesnt make a lot of sense really.

I agree, but we should wait and see, they could be working off the logic of, if people are subbing to Gamepass and getting access to all those great games aswell as WoW they might spend that extra bit of savings in the ingame shop therefore increasing profit, its a psycology game.

If you make someone feel as if they have received a good deal they wont think anything more about spending something more to make that deal better, when infact it could contribute to double dipping and cause spending habbits in consumers.
