WoW on Gamepass

I don’t see any company going for something that is going to lose them money.

It’s the kind of last ditch thing companies do when an IP has failed.

Do i think they will be discounting the sub price and including a library of games to play at no extra cost for all wow players?

No. Not really.

Seems like an awful business move.

That was a lovely ad tbh.

That ad really hit me in a bad way - twisting my childhood memory and excitement for Blizzard’s latest games and rephrasing them in terms of a corporate takeover.

Felt like The Jailer, but worse.

I thought that was pretty insensitive, gotta be honest.

And are we even rid of Kotick? I don’t think that’s the case, but if we are I guess that’s something.

And what’s gonna become of Battle.Net? The oldest online free to play service in the world - set the industry standard on the PC, while on console Microsoft set the standard with a subscription. Will all my friends list now be tied to my Microsoft account and my Windows login by extension? I’m a Linux gamer - how is chatting even going to work for me?

Blergh.

I am sorry you feel that way now, but rest asured, Bobby will be gone soon tm.

WoW 2 confirmed?

Doubtful, but you never know.

Times change, better get used to it. There’s no stopping the train now.
Adapt or die!

I know, just messing around. I don’t think that massive changes will occur with merger tbh.

Doesn’t mean I can’t be a bit melancholic when a change happens that I don’t like.

I won’t be dead next year, don’t worry. x’D

Microsoft’s past is littered with the corpses of successful independent studios, and although I had hoped that Blizzard could be saved and become independent again, all possible hope has finally faded. Microsoft would rather Blizzard die than give them up again; and from what I hear it’s not even Blizzard they’re interested in in the first place.

All I wanted to really say though, is using “Hey, it’s about time” for a corporate takeover?

F

my honest guess is they’ll add something like tender packs to pass instead of the entire subscription

Not true at all.

Games can still be on different platform shops and still need a sub cost and make good money. Look at Final Fantasy 14. You can only play it via the official launcher and still need a sub, despite it being on Steam (which is basically ONLY the launcher.exe)

Not to mention that game pass gives access to other games still that aren’t on Battle.net.

Current sub goes to ABK. Gamepass is MS. In the future, both is MS. Once they move WoW into GP, they trade money for more service quality.

What would you pay more willingly for? A single game sub cost or a game pass that gives you access to MANY games?

It is a strategy to generate more sub counts for less money because in the long run loyalty will be more worth to Gamepass than milking money.

A regular customer comes and goes. But a loyal one returns every time. Like in your local coffee shops.

WoW on Gamepass, I can’t see that happening, comma, however, Gamepass on WoW, I can see.

Buy the yearly subscription to World of Warcraft and you get the Basic/cheapest version of Gamepass

I think it makes sense if Microsoft bought it, theoratically it implies buying a subscription/game licence via Microsoft store without a battle.net account?

Warcraft is feasible, WoW not so much unless it’s the latest expansion. They seem to be having sales for that every couple of months so they seem… a little desperate?

You’ll never catch me complaining about a sale.
