My tinfoil hat logic is telling me wow token may very well be coming to Classic in Wrath.
Why? Well, the groundwork for introducing it in order to make massive profits has already been laid:
First they let bots run rampant gathering all they can and killing all mobs they can out in the world. This makes farming gold outside instanced content extremely difficult and/or slow due to less available nodes and very low AH prices due to the massive influx of items farmed by bots.
Next, they let GDKP become the new norm of PuG raiding. Got gold? Here is your full T6 set and some glaives on top.
Now, finally, we have a situation where the whole main game (pve & pvp) runs on gold. Everything is just a huge transaction. The need for gold is higher than ever before, while earning it outside instanced content has been made extremely difficult.
So, what would solve this problem? I present you: The WoW token. It is already now OK to swap gold between retail<->tbc, so why not just directly introduce it here?
What do u think? Should I remove my tinfoil hat or am I onto something here?
I raid BT/MH every week, will raid SWP next week. I spend gold literally only on cheap herbs on off-days which I then send to a guildie to craft mana pots and wisdom/adept elixirs. Oh and like once 2 months to craft a batch of wizard oil. I have so little need for gold I actually accrued about 3k from the start for this phase just in passive income in ZA/Kara/T5 raids.
That statement of yours is completely laughable for anyone who raids with his guild, the way WoW is meant to be played.
Try as I might, I do not understand how your statement relates to my post. What are you even trying to say? I am an old fart with job, wife and kids and I have near 0 need for gold.
And yeah, I understand how a melee who pops scrolls and haste pots and demonslaying on each pull spend more, but then they can maybe do some dailies for 90 minutes to offset the price of sweaty speedrun 99 parse consumes.
How long are people going to continue riding this? Anyone with a few functional brain cells can make gold without even farming.
I made about 100k since TBC launched and farmed for about 5 total hours, out of which most were fishing. People really need to learn how to use the damn professions.
You didn’t make 100k with professions kekw.
Professions won’t make you rich.
Farming won’t make you rich.
Buying gold will, or taking a split of bought gold by doing GDKP’s.
Flipping itmes on AH can make You rich. Just look at viedos like " Flipping 1 Gold to 10k on the Auction House" or the vids form The Lazy Goldmaker. And professions do help with that, as You can buy raw materials and sell finished products for way more etc.
Every point listed are issues that were player created. In retail, the token was granted to try to fix that issue, only to make it worse. Blizz understands the need for instant gratification, for it’s good for business–this is why they will never stop gdkp. The only solution to fixing a player created problem is for players to stop contributing to it ( will never happen) and blizz fixes their ToS and enforces it.
You can legitimately buy WoW tokens with TBCC gold. WoW tokens directly in TBCC and in Wrath would be more convenient for sure, but it’s not something absolutely necessary.
However, The problem I see here is discrimination of players on dead/dying realms. It’s much harder to find someone to sell you WoW token for TBCC gold from a dying realm. And if you find some, the price will be significantly higher than that on a megaserver. Wrath Token could help with that BUT (and a big one of a BUT) if Blizz managed servers properly, we wouldn’t have to even think about this in the first place.
Dying realms are done either way, especially without RDF tool in wotlk.
I can imagine Blizzard thinking the community wants tokens, because they would be bought/used and they make good money with it. They dont care much about the game or the interest of the community anyway, as we have seen.
We do not even have an armory or pvp ladder. Has any player of the community ever said they dont want this? I dont think so. Still, although they know many players want this, they just wont do it.
It is reality that the communication is like non-existing between players and Blizzard and Blizzard has no feeling of obligation towards their players, only their shareholders.
This is bull**** because a hour farmed will give you less gold then going to work for 1 hour for 12 euro which basically means that blizzard by not fighting bots destroyed the economy to a point where farming makes no sense and buying gold is much more time efficient. So explain me why should blizz not introduce the wow token if you can buy it either way. I know that more people will buy gold that way but at least it is safe and stuff.
Just because You don’t know how to do it, doesn’t mean it’s impossible.
I’m not saying the guy tells the truth, and really earned 100k - I don’t know him. But it is perfectly possible to earn 100k without farming, just with ah flips.
There’s a vid (series) on YT showing the guy making 10k from a single gold coin in TBCC, without ever leaving the city, or without having professions (although he uses others professions for a tip). So it was perfectly possible to make 100k if someone started early in the expansion.
Obviously, but then it’s more than 5 hours invested into it.
People tend to forget the time they spent on their Bank Alts, checking prices, puting up items, taking down items, buying items, running between the mailbox, canceling low bid auctions etc. And this isnt something you can log on and do whenever you feel like it, no, you have to commit to the fluctuation of prices and demands for specific items, during specific hours on specific days before specific phases and events. The more people you have doing this, the more active you have to be to keep up - lowering that item with 1 copper during rush hours making it top of the stack so it can sell.
People say “roll AH” like you can log on every Friday 2 min and do it.
Ill add that even rolling AH is benefiting from goldbuyers and GDKP, people have more money to spend and prices go up. I can pretend all day that rolling AH is making my own gold outside of bots and raids, but truth is that its coming my way from somewhere.
