WoW Vanilla Collectors Edition Issue

Hello Everyone,

I purchased myself a copy of WoW Vanilla CE for Christmas not realising I would be unable to obtain the pet(s) from this on my current characters.

I opened a ticket to only be told this is “working as intended” and pushing the pets to current characters was not possible. Much to my dismay as you can understand.

Has anyone else had this issue and found a work around or something as it is very dissapointing as I have been after Mini-Diablo for quite a long time now.

Many regards,
David

Unfortunatly, this is how it works and always have worked (with some minor adjustment back in 2005, which I cant remember at the moment).

New character > Recives soulbound gift that starts quests in bag > Choose pet when handing in quest.

I’ve acually deleted/restarted characters becuase I regreted the pet (low levels obviously) or remade characters that Iv’e deleted the pet on which were deleted (and later restored without a pet).

Pets become account wide in WotLK tho, you get them mailed to you then iirc

Yea its a shame as my main is R14, can’t justify deleting him for a pet, although it is one of if not the best pets :frowning:

Yea at least there is that, shame I will have to wait so long.

Personally I dont see the issue pushing this to current characters, especially with all the changes being made.

It wont really affect anything imo, its still a one time thing.

The (new) characters also have to be on that specific WoW-acount, meaning that there’s another thing preventing you from getting the pet on your “main” (which I guess is on another WoW-acount).

No, my main is on that account also. Very unfortunate. Hopefully Blizzard change this in the future, can’t see an issue pushing the pet.

I don’t understand why the quest can’t just become available in the starter zone like it is when you have the CE from the start.

Collectors edition vanilla items are retail pets, which is now shadowlands.

I agree, blizzard should let you get them tho, but the issue here might be that classic vanilla and retail vanilla CE items are two different games.

Or am I missing something?

Not trying to argue against your case, but this is how I see it.

I had the CE in vanilla and have them on my toons now, didn’t have to do anything, quest was there just like at the start of vanilla

Then I for sure supports OPs wish.

Yea i agree the quest should be available, or just code in a flag that is CE is present on your account and the quest has not been completed to mail you the quest item.

Or have a GM manually do this, as it would be for 3 characters in my case (my level 60s). So silly after waiting so many years, honestly gutted.

Naa its the same as in Vanilla as it is now Bulkzilla, classic is based on the Legion client even, so there are no technical limitations etc. Blizzard Activision isn’t it, they only care about money unfortunately.

Thanks a lot, hopefully someone from Blizzard has a heart :stuck_out_tongue: <3

WoW-acount, not Blizzard/Battlenet acount.

I dont see how your main can be on that WoW-acount if you bought it this xmas. If it was you would have recived the pet upon character creation.

When starting Classic I had to get a subscription on the WoW acount that had the CE in order to get the pet (which hadnt been my “main” acount for years). My other 2 WoW acounts, and the characters created on them , obviously dont get the pet.

But that is the point, the characters were already existing characters, thus not getting the pets. I would have to delete my level 60s and remake them to get the pets. Seems a bit drastic considering my main has 150+ days played :frowning:

This is the part I dont get. How could the characters have been existing on an WoW-acount you bought for Christmas, whilst having 150 days played on them?

I mean the characters wouldnt get the pets even if you remade them, if it was done on the same current non-CE WoW acount.

No, Collectors’s edition items are both retail and classic items, probably the only thing shared between both, mostly because CE flag belongs to account info, and the account info is shared between retail and classic. It has been done like this because Blizzard has not created a new CE version for Classic, instead, they only give those items to the owners of the original CE.

He bought Vanilla CE after creating his character. This means when he created his character his account was a normal account, then on Christmas, he bought Vanilla CE and upgraded his account to CE. His previously existing characters do not get the pet because that is how it works back in Vanilla, because back in Vanilla was not even possible to upgrade a normal account into a CE account.

Thanks, that was the key information I was missing. So it’s possible to upgrade existing acounts to CE … That was what made me confused. Cheers!
