addons and mods work for singleplayer games. but i dont think it should be relied on too heavily in mmorpgs. Besides some basic interface add ons
ahâŚthere we go. Why make a whole post of bs to cover something so usualâŚ
Just going to stop you there, the removal of Add Ons is not going to help that. Youâre posting from Stormscale, so I ask this with all due respect, Have you ever Roleplayed whilst playing a Roleplay game, and do you know how important Add ons like MRP XRP or TRP are for that segment of the playerbase?
You can give your character a surname, for a start, you can describe them other than âYeahhhh, they look genericâ
Like,Let me give you an example.
"Brigante Summerisle looks like a male Sinâdorei who has seen some fights, his left eye is creased by scars, but the eye still blazes through, his hair is braided in a topknot, and from it nineteen tiny Silver Arrowheads hang, as well as a fair few feathers from Dragonhawks, it looks like. If in armour, he wears the rank insignia of a Ranger-Captain of Quelâthalas, as well as medals earned, both Horde ones, and ones from his time as a soldier of the Alliance, stubbornly refusing to give up his past. His upper arm strength looks good, as you would imagine for a Farstrider archer, but of his legs, one is lame, and he often leans on an engraved bone cane, that looks like it came from some flying creature or other. Despite the scarring, his eyes look piercing, as if assessing whether someone is a threat, but then relaxing into a good natured grin. "
All of that would be lost on RP realms
If you claim to like RPGâs, Then no. Donât take away the RPG element, because removing that element that element to customise your character, which everyone can see, would just destroy the RPG element. What are you left with? An MMO?
Play Call of Duty. Thatâs an MMO.
Do not try to remove the RPG Element from what it is.
So no Add-ons?=No RPGâers, and that means when the casual crowd have done their PvP or cleared content, theyâll just unsub to the next patch when they can rinse and repeat. Who who -Will- stay there though, and keep the game afloat?
The RPG crowd. Weâll play when there is even Content drought, and still be here when you all come back, enjoying an mmoRPG.
So no. Take away those add ons? You might as well unsub now, then come back when the next raid happens, Assuming the game still exists, because the RPG crowd will have left. And no, Not For Classic, thatâs even -more- unfriendly for an RPG.
So leave our Add-ons alone, or else you are alienating the only people who play constantly.
been asking for servers where addons and /follow are banned but youâve a snowflakes chance in hell of getting it because it would expose 99% of players as not skilled in any way at playing the game and their tiny little egos wouldnât be able to cope with that knowledge.
Id love it, and would immediately move to one, but it will never ever happen
Why are you against addons? You do not have to use them, it is a personâs choice if they want to use them or not. Not everyone who uses addons are snowflakes. I am assuming you are referring to raider io as that seems to draw the ire of the anti addon crowd.
Moderate skill players have at least 1 curve some pvp rating achievs and some dungeon achievs.
You both talk about how unskilled everyone is while you got 0 of those, WoW is not skyrim boiâŚ
There is far deeper skill focus and multiple things to have in your sight while you play this game in more demanding aspects, if you ever do you will realize that addons are a must.
If you ever though.
100% troll topic. What is ruining the game is developers and design team, not addons. And toxic comunity too⌠So addons are fine.
I donât know how ElvUI can destroy gameâŚ
@Prokhet: Ummm⌠This is a REALLY bad idea. As Brigante noted, having no RP addons would be outright HARMFUL to the RP community⌠and the kind of data and API blocking you are asking would also disable /who, the ability to inspect people within the game, probably mean more inventory and mail chaos (as Bagnon and other mail and inventory addons would also vanish), etc.
In short: NO!
I didnât say they were. I said youâve a snowballs chance in hell of it happening.
I hate addons because they replace skill with automation, a thing that makes me sick. Do I want a factory made chair to sit on or a hand crafted one? Do I want to listen to live music or a CD? Do I want to make my own sandwich or a premade one.
Automation makes things worse, in my belief. All im asking for, as is the OP is one server where addons and /follow are banned. Stay in your addon heaven servers if you like, I aint stopping you.
but thatâs the point, youâve devolved so far with your reliance upon addons that you can no longer develop skills instead. Id prefer a server with no addons and no /follow ⌠so I can build up my skill set, rather than relying on automation to do it for me. You can stay in your addon fogged server, feel free ⌠id just like the option to play with folk that donât use them. No harm to you, no harm to anyone who uses addons. No issue.
There is no animation for kicks. Playing caster will be a nightmare.
Addon != automation (of actions at least).
Automation = botting = bannable.
It would ruin wow for me. To never be able to improve, never be able to see how any fight is going. You wouldnât even be able to see why something isnât dying or why the fight isnât progressing as intended. You would struggle to recruit good players for progress into raids. Canât see simple things like are people interrupting.
A more simplistic game that kind of thing might work but not in World of Warcraft.
It sounds more like you are scared of being called out on your performance.
I would really like to see your list of addons which you consider to devalue gold and items. To some extent i agree that some addons are borderline (like dbm) and playing without that would require you to think harder. But the rest are only there to make the UI more convenient and by no means âplay the game for youâ.
Letâs take a look at weakauras. So you have 15 icons that tell you when your cds are ready and how many (unstable aff) you have rolling on a boss. So you either have a WA to do the count or⌠target the boss, and out of 656 debuff he has on 1st locate the UA debuffs, then count them (the debuff on default UI is what⌠2x2 mm?) god forbid you have 2 aff locks in group. By the time you are done counting⌠youâre dead in mythic environment. Is counting UA a skill?
Also how would you solve the issue of progression groups? if someone didnât interrupt or use cd on time, you gonna ask in discord who was it and hope they donât lie (that is if you allow voice chat - fast 10 finger typing is a skill you know)? Because it is in human nature that people wonât admit failing, even if it wouldnât mean a gkick or just a regular group kick.
YOU DONâT??? That auto sell grey items is such a game changer omg⌠ban all dem elvui users
Some things could be argued. Just as the devs disabled that range thing back in ⌠WoD? and friendly nameplates for something, there comes a point where addons can do âtoo muchâ.
You could say, for example, that TSM or tdBattlePetScript do too much in their niche areas. Personally, I think so.
The problem that arises from DBM and Bigwigs is an arms race between the devs and the addons. Mechanics are now, I think, too complicated for a game without addons, but devs put them in because they expect players to have the addons. Iâm not sure thatâs a healthy situation. It might be better to ratchet that down a notch.
So there could well be some bathwater that could be drained productively, but letâs not throw the baby out with it.
I donât think so⌠First time I am raiding myth, we are progressing Mekka, I can play every boss without DMB, I know abilites, I can see what is boss doing, what he is casting. I am tanking and DBM is for me only alert sound when something important is happening.
At Mekka I see haw bow cast blaster cannon, I see bomb timer on my head, I see bot call cast, I see casting other abilites⌠And mekka is quite messy fight but you can clearly see whats going on.
Iâm sure that some people donât need DBM, for at least some fights, maybe all ⌠but what kind of forum response do you think weâd see if Blizz disabled DBM and Bigwigs some reset day?
I can for 100% be certain that I am doing good, but how would I know that warlock over there isnât doing 1k dps??
Without addons the mechanics of most bosses would become more simple again because the general ability of players to handle mechanics would go down. Thats not a bad thing in general, but it might lead to a more boring boss design. On the other hand having an addon tell you what to do on every step is like a drone taking commands from somewhere.
If you ever play this game in an advanced or demanding content you will realize what im talking about.
As i said before to the guy before, its not devolving. If you think its devolving quit your car+phone+pc and go live in a mountain alone.
