It looks like one comment was removed and then alot of people defending him against whatever was said.
I like his stuff and I occasional watch his stream. I don’t agree with everything he says, but he doesn’t expect people to.
At the end of the day if you’re not enjoying something don’t watch it.
As far as Wowhead is concerned, as a community and content website it is within their interest to promote other content creators as that helps to build the community stronger.
Every news post or guide on WoWhead is made by a content creator of some sort. They are contributors, just like a in Magazines and newspapers you have guests journalists.
Personally, I check WoWhead daily for the latest news on the game. I don’t read every article, but if something gets my interest I read it.
aight I checked out the recent Wowhead news post and some bureaucrat scrubbed what I am assuming to be like all but 1 line of the first comment I seen.
I’d love to see the comments that get removed. From experience, nearly all of the cases where a post or a comment gets removed, it’s because of the way the poster choses to speak, rather than the opinion itself.
Rarely do I see respectfully shared opinions get removed, but people being seriously rude and disrespectful and then crying that their posts got removed “just for having an opinion” is as common as dirt.
Why people think they need external sites to play this game? There is journal and all info you need about pets etc. can be found everywhere in game. Just pick area and start doing things there…
This is a rather silly take in my opinion, people don’t need it but when the in-game directions to obtaining for example a piece of transmog is “Vendor” or “World Drop” that isn’t really helpful. Same goes for older quests which can be very unclear as to their objective.
As for the OP, moderation is very good, in moderation. Too much and it’s controlling, too little and it gets wild. It really depends on what the post was whether this was good moderation or not. And then again, the mods are people, they make mistakes, maybe it just got on someone’s nerves or maybe they were having a bad day, or maybe it was completely justified.
Wowhead is only useful as a database and sharing relevant information in the comments of the database listings.
The index page and news section is outright trash where Wowhead-writers pukes out articles just for the engagement ad money. Correcting or criticising the writers in the comments of their articles is heavily frowned upon, the mods will call it ‘Trolling’ and remove it.
Just skip this “Taliesin”-guy’s articles, treat the site like a newspaper: Read the articles that interest you and skip over the ones that don’t, frankly, when you complain about articles on there, getting ignored is the best-case scenario, also: What was the wording used in the complaining posts?
I don’t see why all the cataloguing-work done there needs to be duplicated on another site, just because you don’t like one guy’s articles, TBH. (You’d probably dislike articles on that hypothetical second site, too)
Its not useful to the situation, because theyre not gonna ring up tali and tell him hes now not doing it.
And ontop of that, if they allowed people to display opinons massing against people, the site wouldnt exist for very long. We arent in 2012 anymore.
If they put out information on tali on their website advertising something, they also have the responsibility to protect him on that platform.
Theres loads of content creators and guide makers that people dislike. The normal reaction is to simply ignore their guides though.
Its kinda weird. That you feel its nessercary to ensure everyone knows u dont like tali feedback loops are to improve the site, opinons wont improve sites, because everyone has a different opinon lol. So yeah if ur spamming it saying tali sucks, then yeah expect it to get pulled down.
I realized there is no replacement for wowhead i am saying this because I’m bitter they blocked my country from using it for political reasons(not Russian btw).
But they may say it’s cause of some stupid laws preventing selling data but i think that’s bull and we know it.
Other then that using AdBlock solves all problems with the website. Its a really useful wow related and other Blizzard games related website i have to use hack browser aka Tor browser to access the website and find the guide I’m looking for nowadays xD.
Praying that one day they lift the ban and can use the website again.
Yeah, wowhead became a trash website over the years.
They chop up patch-notes and other news into a lot of small posts, just to increase the number of clicks and the time you spend on their crap site, full of ads.
The constant posts about useless tierlists, which are not even correct most of the time, but still plague the game and all the player’s minds with this meta chasing mindset. (Oh I’m a 2K RIO casual player, but I won’t invite you to my +16 key because wowhead or some useless youtube wow celebrity told me that your spec sucks) Pathetic.
The constant datamining they post is also damaging the core of what makes games fun. The sense of wonder is lost the moment they serve up every bit of information about an expansion or a patch, before it’s even released.
And don’t even get me started on posting the video’s of our favorite dynamic duo, dratnos and tettles. My favorite was the last post about them. They discussed that the removal of valor cap is a good move. Well boys, we should be thankful for them for sharing this amazing opinion with us. I was unsure about this change myself, but since they confirmed it, now I’m happy.
The moderation is the cherry on top. It’s basically: don’t you dare to write any form of valid criticism about us or the content we post, or your your comment will be yeeted and deleted.
And don’t use Chrome, because apparently, according to something I saw, Chrome is getting rid of all adblock extensions by just making them not work anymore.
Just so you know Wowheads is not the only place to get information or give feedback on the game. Icyveins and MMO Champions are just as useful. They too have moderators and will moderate toxicity, though they more open to constructive feedback and players opinions.
Ps, Wowheads is starting to get negative reviews themselves for the copious amounts of repeat articles, clickbait headings and drip feed content that could otherwise have been one article.
I only use Wowhead as a database of quests, bosses, items etc. Occasionally I drop a comment in the relevant section, if I think I have something to offer to other players.
I use ad block plus for opera and get little to no advert. Just that annoying yes or for my data privacy. There is only one very discreet ad actually making it through about the invasion of UKraine but its way up out of the way and isn’t annoying so for me it’s acceptable.
Wowhead mods have been awful for a long time. Deciding who and what is allowed on their precious site without allowing for any criticism whatsoever. They just silence anyone that disagrees with anything they do and remove comments on just about any article.
Would be nice if we could customize the discord wowhead bots so it doesnt show things we wouldnt be interested in such as irrelevant content creators that just read the news that has been on wowhead already in the first place.
