WoW's Next Race, or Allied Race - What is your heart's desire?

Since my WoW’s next class thread proved unexpectedly popular, I decided I’d do for one for the other half of every WoW character: Species.

Your idea doesn’t have to be a race that already exists. Perhaps there’s a concept, real world analogue or cultural archetype Blizzard hasn’t considered yet you’d like to see them explore or interpret. Maybe there’s a species you’d appreciate them anthromorphising, an insectoid or avian race for example.

What are your thoughts?

High elves, forest trolls, ogres, Broken, taunka. Pretty much the races that are already part of the factions.
No, doesn’t matter than we can somewhat do forest trolls and high elves with existing customizations already or that it would be giving us 3rd iteration of a race with them and taunka.

Giving them the most generosity on delivering on a satisfying model that works well with armour…

Sethrak would be cool (:snake: sssss), as would Ethereals (but they need their after-image effect on movement). I don’t believe they will deliver these, so it’s a pie-in-the-sky desire.

I’m expecting HElves+Forest Trolls (Amani, specifically) in Midnight as its selling feature like the Earthen were for TWW. I’m relatively ambivalent on them conceptually, but they’re the sort of thing that should’ve been added a while ago.

My stance is the same as it is on new classes/specs - we already have too much of them and WoW has been pretty much overbloated because Blizzard is too used to the idea that they constantly have to add “more” instead of refining what already is.

It’s silly to add more races especially at this point where we have existing races that have been long abandoned for years. Pandaren barely getting any new writing since the expansion they were introduced in is just apocalypse levels of tragic. I wish instead of Dragonflight we got an expansion that focused on the places/races that are already existing in the world with each patch being self-contained ala Undermine and highlighting those races that have been long forgotten. Instead we got Dracthyr which honestly didn’t feel like added anything new, fresh or exciting to the setting. I have a feeling they’re going to end up the same as Pandaren anyway since their identity. They already have 0 presence in TWW.

Please no, they already butchered Nerubians this way.

Forest Trolls (/w midnight), Frost Trolls (/w Last Titan), Yaungol or Broken would be my wants

Nightborne I think would be a good addition.

Gimme some people fleeing crumbling Outland.
Could give us ogres, broken, high elves, arakkoa and/or ethereals.

Broken/Krokul and ogres are the only ones left that I really want.

OGRES, MY LORD.

I would prefer customizations for existing races. Beards for trolls and goblins, braids for humans etc. Blizzard promised more in shadowlands and i am still waiting…

But for full races definitely no more reskins. I would love the spider demon people from legion, the aranasi? Alternatively the classic races like ogres, arakoa, ethereals etc

I would love to see Broken, or even Furbolg honestly!

I hope we get some sort of character customisation/allied race overhaul, actually? Where they collapse Lightforged into Draenei, for example, and let us pick from, say, Lightforged, Broken or Penitent Man’ari/Eredar in a similar vein to a Class Spec but for playable races. Could broaden the possibilities of customisation choices if some were shared (such as hairstyles, horns & some jewellery options).

Not a fan of Allied Races in general, but I’d love the potential of Harronir.

a third, more sinister type of tauren

For me? Ogres and Taunka for Horde, Vrykul and Krokul for Alliance!

I’m in the certified Club of Boredom, thinking we should hold off on new playable races and further invest in the ones we already have.

It doesn’t ruin the game for me to not know what every race is up to in every expansion, but cultural quests like the orcish Om’gora and the Tishamaat really opened my eyes to a largely neglected potential for worldbuilding and storytelling.

I must confess that I greatly desire playable naga. Sethrak are also a good shout. Ogres don’t appeal to me personally on any level, but Blizzard would be making a good move for themselves if they introduced them as an option — Horde players have wanted them for decades.

Oh, satyr too. I’d love satyr.

Playable naga only if they don’t have legs. If they’re just elves with fish parts I will think they suck.

I am in the boat for Ogre’s!

The Alliance of Lordaeron is complete with the addition of “High” Elves, so a complete Second War Horde with its races would be a most welcome addition!

As for races, while I do not personally want anymore races, I would love for customisation options were possible, for example Yaungol and Taunka customisations for Tauren, and Broken customisations for Draenei!

As stated above, I would love if they collapsed certain Allied races into their main races, with the option to allow a choice out of a combination of racial abilities, for example a Bronzebeard Dwarf with a Dark Iron Dwarf racial and a Bronzebeard Dwarf racial, and then have him appear as a half-blood child between the two races ala Dagran(or the older Dark Iron appearance)!

Ofcourse that would mean they would have to add more racial abilities per race, which I am not against per se!

If I do have to add new races, I would go with Furbolg, Ogre, Broken or Naga!

I stand with Galek on this.

Much as I like seeing new races… we need more spotlight on what we have.
I’m tired of the “I don’t want to play with you anymore” feel we get with each race they add.

i’m all about the snake people
