The faction imbalance is absolutely stupid and is blizz going to do anything about this?
Why didnt they lock faction joining before they were balanced anyway?
Playing alliance on some servers is now unbearable if you want to level because there is horde literally camping on rooftops of lower level zones dotting you or just one shotting you
There is no honor system in place either
Horde has more than double the numbers on a lot of servers and this is just ridiculous. Sooner or later the alliance is going to start quitting or leaving
And imagine the outrage if they had locked factions?
“I am sorry but you cannot play the race you want because not enough other players want to play that faction. No, it doesn’t matter that all of your friends have a character in that faction, you will just have to put up with being ganked by them ad infinitum”
It is a genuine issue, but faction locking is not the answer.
As for why I know it’s a genuine issue, my home server in vanilla was heavily horde-leaning. Eventually, free transfer was opened for alliance and nearly all of their top guilds left the server. Alliance on the server was left with maybe 1 or 2 guilds who even think about Naxx. By endgame, there was no world PvP because there was no alliance.
There is no easy fix though. Balance issues in realms led to cross-realm battlegrounds in the first place too, followed by cross-realm instances in later expansions, and while the former is OK, the latter is a huge no-no.
Alliance players have always been more drawn to carebear servers, that’s just how it is.
Doesn’t mean the Alliance are doing bad though, pretty sure the first Rag kill on Firemaw was Alliance. Alliance also have a guild that have Devilsaurs locked down almost all the time.
This is a player driven problem that can be solved by the playerbase. Instead of whining in the forums, you should make posts encouraging players to switch to alliance, starting leveling communities in servers to prevent ganking etc.
It would really require massive communities to have spread across all pvp servers, full of goodwilled people ready to take one for the team and start leveling in the midst of horde invasion.
Somehow i don’t see that happening.
Once Bgs are out hordes will taste the several hours long queues. that will solve part of the issue since alliance gonna get a huge gear advantage and then easily outgear horde in wpvp and force some horde players to quit.
First come first serve, could have locked them at a certain threshold or numbers.
Of course not every server has these issues of imbalance but mine does and it shows like for example the fact that a lot of lower level zones are camped by horde guilds and even the “safe areas” like cities so u get killed if u want to return a quest literally making it almost impossible to level unless you want to go cleave group your way to 60 in dungeons. But oh wait, even some of the instances are camped to a degree and youre not playing mage/warrior so tough luck, huh?
And since nobody can now level and they outnumber so greatly none of the higher level alliance can do anything about it either.
World pvp is of course fine but theres a point where griefing gets just a little bit too much
