You just proved my point without even realizing it frost is taken in that comp to be a snare and polly bot its an A tier comp you replace the mage with an ele/shadow/dk its an A or S tier comp you replace the warlock with any other class its a C tier trash comp.

Its definitely in to better direction like this, should do it with every class. Some classes in modern wow have had too much of everything for years now. Too much mobility, too much utility, too much control⌠Then on contrast there is some class that just has nothing and is a turret example with a bad toolkit compared to some class that have too much of everything
If anything remains constant from past 17 years mage and rogue will be fine⌠and likely more than fine 
Never understood this arguement if we actually go back to the start of wow untill now i would say warlocks/warriors/mages/rogues/priests/druids have all had the same ammount of time time in the spotlight over the years.
Rogue or mage has never been bad, you play one of the viable specs of them for the expansion and you will never play other than A-S tier
Name one expansion the other classes I mentioned were bad? and rogues were not the best in mop mage was also pretty weak in the start of wod for the first season.
Now if they just implemented a system already on this outdated game where one with moment to kill could log on and play instead of waste the time with some tinder âlf partnerâ system now that would be nice

Mage Talent Trees in DF are bad, plain badâŚ
And it does not bode well for other casters with talent/ressource/borrowed power issues like warlocks for instance. For now, all I see is a collection of gimmicks.
Imo they should give back Deep Freeze in WoD form to Frost Mage so he can CC on his own like Fire can DB â Poly or Arcane can Mass Invis into Poly. Frost is the only spec that cannot make plays on his own so he turned into that PvE turret style caster that works only with Destro or Demo and maybe with SP/Ele.
Both the frost and fire trees, but mainly the mage tree itself look incredibly underwhelming. Especially the placement of shifting power is incredibly stupid considering itâs in the frost part of the class tree.

Well thats the reason all other caster specs have multiple schools of cc or the ones that do have it on the same school its an instant cast the only specs that legit have to hardcast is affliction and frost right now every other spec has instant casts lets not say demo needs to cast because the dogs are instant felguard is instant and they have auramastery for tyrant + instant stuns and coil/howl if they choose to have it.
And that is the strat vs frost mage you select the target and you dont let them cast a single spell EVER and that is the only reason its used in mld/p because lock is designed the same way but also has cc so you become a snare bot and a tank so the warlock can get casts off this is not fun gameplay for the mage and its not fun gameplay for the person playing vs it.
If you ask me, I think DB is one of those iWin buttons. I donât think itâs a bad thing having to work a bit for your CC chains, but if you have an instant CC button that pretty much happens whenever the mage desires it, then it leaves little room for enemies to counteract.
Donât necessarily think frost is bad because of no DB, but itâs one of those âwhy choose X when Y is a stronger alternativeâ situations.
Abilities like DB is what spawns comps like current iteration RMP (/pull 3 cleave), and I personally think that sucks the skill requirement out of comps that can do this.
Yeah⌠the general mage tree is just horrible and I donât think the team responsible for designing it has played a mage before. Iâm okay with not getting deep freeze and DB nerf seems warranted, but the entire layout of the tree is just so off. Half of it is random defensives, certain spells like shifting power or shimmer are placed in really awkward parts of the talent tree, and rune of power hasnât been removed from the game yet. Iâm not happy with the mage tree and will reroll evoker if they donât fix it.
Again people talking with 0 idea how mage works all mages are currently running blink stun which means they want to DB the off dps as getting to healer should be impossible if the healer stays far away which means all you have to do when DB is off cd is not stack now if this was any other healer than holy priest there would always be a gap the problem is not DB in rmp its 7 sec kidney into sap and its holy priest ranged chastice everyone in the team can cross cc and you want to go for mage? the only spec in rmp that can not be played in anything else other than certain comps mage is even useless in 2s.
If mage is nerfed anymore the class might aswell be just useless you cant balanced a class around 1 comp just because its overtuned holy priest and every rogue spec gets to have fun outside of rmp mage is the only one who over the years has been pruned and nerfed because of this there is no problem with DB sheep in any other comp its the only cc mage has.

You said it has very little counterplay it leaves you with little time to counteract when this is the only skill that your class as warrior takes at the moment you also said its an IWIN button but it can be instantly dispelled by the healer the spell is not an IWIN button or is it hard to counter if you are playing correct the only time it becomes hard to counter is if holy priest is in the team and they get a chastice fear for cross cc which is completely broken and nothing to do with mage sub/holy are also dominating 2s because of this setup and how easy it is to pull off.
You said mage should have to work to get cc well current frost actually has to do that and have you tried to play it at all? because you wont be casting a single spell vs caster cleaves or meele cleaves atm you are just there to eat kicks and slow people.
I wonder what all these mages are playing in 2s there must be so many of them at the top of the ladder or is mage replaced with holy priest at the top of the ladder?
There is not a single mage in the first 2 pages the highest rated mage is around 2700.
