Just leveled up a new char, and on my path to max lvl, i tryed 2 bgs, where i got smashed into pieces, by 2-3 twinks in each bg.
And after that, i didnt que up again, its just not fun, getting one shotted.
I think this is a great change.
I have to admit , some of these responses are priceless to read. Keep it up, will come back later with a cuppa and have a blast.

From what ive read, in Vanilla there was no option to stop XP.
So the only thing where it could have been so is BC then. I dont know.
Still, LK, Cata, Panda, Draenor all had twinks separate. Legion had templates.
It doesnt all matter that much; point is that everyone understands this is beyond being balanced.
I know it hurts when you made effort to make a decent twink, but at least its still there.
Ive had my twinks gear totally squished to nothing, even payed a million to make a 101 twink, but didnt have time to play him yet and that gear is also squished to nothing.
This would all be avoidable if B didnt make these odd changes all the time.
It was good as it was pre-legion.
And tell us please what was balanced about vanilla?
119 is not a slight advantage when you have the gear it was a huge advantage and again took zero skill
haha yea, dont talk about skill @ twink players, they have a diff opinion; loads of twink players way of thinking: skill–> gear lol

Yeah 2k achivs mean nothing after all…like they do not mean the person is more skilled than avg. lvler… Sure, that must be true…
On a more serious note, yes there are few no skills here and there that twink, but I mostly played with very good people that knew when and how to peel, fake cast, cc etc…
arena acheives mean nothing on twtinks most of them got them when you could get them in twink brackets
Whether are for against the change is really a mute point - to have it communicated out via a Tweet more than 24 hours after it went live in NA and ~12 hours in the EU with no prior notice is really poor.
The change wasn’t in the patch notes and impossible to test on the PTR due to the numbers of players queuing.
People like me made decisions to spend real money based on the content they believed would still be available to their characters in the way it was before the patch was released.

This xpac ye, welfare glad idd, but things like prideful/cruel ssn means a bit more to me ngl.
As far as I recall, there was no experience reward from BGs until the XPoff mechanic was added, the reward from BGs was honour and battleground marks. Meaning twinks were mixed in with the regular playerbase for at least the first two expansions.
HOWEVER. Those doing BGs weren’t doing them because they wanted to level, because they didn’t yield experience. People doing BGs did them because they want to PvP.

I can’t wait to see what 15 years of innovating tactics on the same map is going to do to the Classic 19s meta. The wargames / tournaments over the past decade have strategically changed how we play WSG so much since that first year when everyone thought mid was completely worthless

I dont know m8; i started in LK. From what i hear from ppl that do know and played it:
Not getting XP in bgs, can have the same result as not getting xp at all. So i take it they werent balanced.
The entire point here is that
- It should be reasonable and fair. It was from LK to pre Legion.
- Its no use implementing ‘fixes’ that only make matters worse. Templates that on one hand make it boring AF, bc it flattens it all, but also give the option to twink over ilvl, which then negates the thing you were trying to fix.
- Changing content that ppl either got used to, or made an awfull lot of effort to achieve, is always reason for great disappointment.
I wish and hope they learned that by now.

Like you said, there was twinking before bgs getting XP. Thats a fact.
I was twinking while WOTLK to get budget of honor…the reason why was: After i dinged max. level then I get all honor gear instantly on my character.
People are crazy how can geared guy can kill them fast… ye because gear, that always been like. Gear isn
t everything, but its all point of MMORPG, to get better stuff, gear etc. While you have better gear, you always been better than anyone with lower gear, thats a fact… But some people doesnt understand that fact.

I think the issue is that for people to get gear, they need to stop progressing (In the sense that their progression is towards a higher level). At max level the progression IS gear.
Back when there was no experience in BGs, the Character Progression loops in lower level battlegrounds weren’t completely at odds with eachother.
Yea, i was kinda doing the same that year i spent in cata bgs. Lvld up new toons solely in bgs… and it was great fun!
and at the end i had enough honor (?) points to get the pvp gear.
Yes, you are right. There should be a difference and that is the basis of this sort of games. Effort should be rewarded. At the same time, it should also be somewhat fair. So there is some fine line somewehere between the 2.
Imo, i dont mind dying more when im low in the bracket (that doesnt apply anymore and i hope they reverse all that), bc i know at some point i will be top bracket.
But real twinks, when they are SO much better than the average player coming in gearwise, determine the entire BG outcome. A single char determines the ourcome for 20, or 30 ppl. When they are even really one shotting ppl.
That is on the wrong side of that thin line.

So we either separate them (which is my preferred choice), or we template the entire thing again and better than it was in legion, where ppl could again twink over ilvl, but then all the fun of getting some decent gear and stuff is gone and it becomes tedious and boring.
I think we all know we cannot have both and i also think we all agree that 100% equality is boring AF, so i see no other choice than having twinks in separate bgs.
