Xp per hour boosting vs questing

Hi there,

I’d like to know the differences in xp per hour if a fresh char gets boosted in dungeons compared to just questing with the occasional dungeon run.

I know xp is nerfed with a lvl 60 but if I let 3 other low lvls tag along it should give more xp, no?

Does anyone have experience with this
Thanks!

Just remember dungeons have a minimum level. 15 for Stockades.

Boosting is faster and questing is funnier in my experience.

Okay thanks for the replies!

Boosting is great at level 30+, 20 works too, but it works with averages so the closer you get to 60 the better that system works, also quests become less rewarding. Also the boost dungeons are the ones that let the mage draw a lot of mobs at once. Usually goes SM/Mauradon/Stratholme all the way to 60.

You expect my mage that is only pre raid bis and 2 MC pieces geared to solo strat, pulling mobs in groups? I’ll prolly just farm dungeons from 50 in regular grps for my priests pre raid bis if I’m honest.

What kind of boost are you talking about, you give yourself? No I’m talking about regular frost mages who offer this boosting service, like 20 gold per stratholme run.

Is Mara really better exp p/h than ZF graveyard runs?

I don’t normally boost my characters in dungeons as I prefer to quest with a friend or solo.

I as a level 54 get 74 exp per lasher in dm east.
I as a lvl 54 get 300 exp per lvl 54 ghoul in dalsons tear in plaguelands

A lvl 41 warrior killing green elites in sm arms with a lvl 60 boosting them gets 121 exp per mob. You do the math, a full grp doing dungeons esepcially with lvl 60 in it will always be faster which makes me question if this is authentic. I kinda remember that lvl 60 would soak a lot of xp and i suspect something is bugged but maybe the full grp xp boost makes up for it and becomes really valuable at lvl 37+. I just dont remember boost services being viable in tbc, at least not for exp, just quests runs and gear.

TBC had frost mages nerfed, but yeah, after 30 100% viable and a lot faster than questing or killing mobs. Even if you kill a mob every 30 seconds with no downtime boost still beats it double rate. But you do want a full group, and as said, the closer you get to 60 the better the averages work due to smaller gap. The modern day boost isn’t based on outleveling, but rather on the op’s ness that is frost mechanics.

‘Normally’ it’s not possible to draw 50+ mobs with level 40-58 and kill them with a single 60 in a few minutes, it’s game breaking.

I just remember when i boosted my alt in tbc in stockades with my paladin that no mob gave more than 5 exp. In classic they all give minimum double digit exp.

I did spent most of my 30’s in SM on my warlock with a priest and 3 mages… at about 35 I started taking note of duration and xp gain, we was all within a level of each other so pretty even. We could clear the whole of library in 20 min and would earn about 13k xp per run, so just under 40k xp per hour. With a level 60 doing a solo boost was much much less xp and was about the same duration, the 60 wasn’t a mage:)

To me Boosting is only really good if you cba to do anything/have gold to waste/ not bothered on xp as just want the gear to go back and quest with. I was lucky in finding the mages and priest and we are still friends now and occasionally run dungeons together without a tank but I believe these spellcleave groups arent very common anymore unfortunately.

The speed of dungeons Vs questing is all about who you can find around you with the same play time and motives.

Edit: sorry cabbage I don’t know why it’s specifically replied to you, I must have mis clicked :joy:
