It was already known that evoker was ridiculously strong.
You dont need much player time to realize that and even if implemented on an already existing class result would be the same.
You cant just create a new role and not expect any bump in the road. And is better it to be on the “too much” side and then start cutting instead of just releasing a non working mess out of fear of people crying

I don’t know what key levels you are doing, but from all the keys I did this season (from +2 to +20) - aug evoker is not mandatory to complete keys in this range. Yesterday I completed +20s having hunters, DK, DH, ele shaman, rogue, … in a group. And it was fine. Aug is mandatory if you are doing +28-29
Why bother goiing above 20 unless youve got a premade group and want higher scores. Sl s3 i tried to get the 20s done got like 2 and thsat was just for the portal thye had no loot. Going past that now feels pointless

What ive said is, the additional healing, added defenses and the ability bolster dps, has made other roles easier therefore yielding a higher success rate.
This is on the benefit of the role however, the fact theres only 1 specc avalisble in said role isnt the point. That is a fixable situation.
With the presence of a support. Where its own dps isnt a focus.
It allows the player to take on additional responsibilities from other roles, which has made a positive impact on the mediocre player in terms of grasping gsme modes with a reduced responsibility load.

Hate to brake it to you mate, but all specs are viable in the game. And if everything would be exactly the same, what would be the point anyway.

Gamers themselves killed the core of what made gaming fun back in the days.
They try to min-max the crap out of everything. There’s no sense of wonder and exploration anymore, everything is already datamined weeks or months before release. It’s pathetic and sad, and they dont even understand why they don’t enjoy playing games like they used to.
There’s one thing thats on blizzards shoulder tho that they could do better, and it’s the removal of PTR. Just test internally, and encrypt all data until release. That would maybe help a little.
Tbh i swapped to aug, because i love support.
And tbh ive never been fussed to ensure a fire mage and shadow priest is present, and i rly cant say keys have been rough at all.
Adjust when u use ur stuff to fit the classes CDs at hand and they can all do monster burst with one present. Yes ur gonna squeeze more dps out a spriest / fire mage. But its absolutely fine.
Every speccs viable, its just its so easy to demand the bleeding meta people do it
Unrelated question but just out of curiosity, is it mandatory for augmentation to use weakauras to track the CDs of your teammates so you know when they’re ready/active? Do you use them?
My augvoker is rival in pvp with like 70% winratio (I know, it’s not high), but I have friendly nameplates enabled with big debuffs and pay attention to offensive cooldowns of my team, so weakauras will trivialise that a lot, so to play “efficiently” you will definitely either wanna track cooldowns verbally or with weakaura. However, I have not bothered setting up weakauras for every offensive cooldown, but I think it should be standard in M+ later, because augvoker buffs the group in burst windows.

I’ve seen dps pulling healer levels of damage at those ilvl and key levels.
I havent personally used them, but i imagine they would defintly help espically in less communication enviroments.
I wouldnt say its mandatory, but itd likely aid in several areas, the only thing i could imagine running in based on CD trackers would be if players decided to hold onto CDs for any reason u could possibly just insta react to CDs avaliable before noticing
I generally read the timer at what points big pulls are done when CDs ar eused and keep a eye out for animations or set up from them at rough times i know CDs should be coming up
Im hopeful that they will add further support cababilities to other classes or add new support specs.
Though with all the whining going on they might just delete aug.
