You can’t go and quest with your friend after the patch. Even if you party sync, you stay at 50 and he’ll get like no exp from mob kills.
File a bug report.
I’m curious are they in Chromie time? Or out?
I don’t know? I don’t know how chromie time works. He just started a new char and was in the human starting area. Thought I’d do it with him but I stayed at 50.
The starter zone is not in Chromie time, that’s an option from 10-50.
Did either of you use the ‘party sync’ button after grouping up? Could it be that you were just grouped normally?
I just tested with a trial account in case it was something to do with his char. I have party sync enabled, I’m still 50 on my druid and my trial character is lvl 1.
I used to level characters in elwynn forest by party syncing prior to this patch with this exact trial character being in the party.
Not as hilarious as party syncing BG and loosing the ability to mount up between 10 and 20.
Before prepatch I synced with a friend and lost soooooooooo many abilities, it was awful. But it was fun to play wit my friend.
I have not tried to sync with anyone since change came in as the timewalking Chromie mode seems to even out all level differences. It could be that it’s not working now. It could be a side effect of the new scaling to 50.
It’s not listed in the known issues so it might just not be known yet.
I have reported it during ptr as well.
Sad part is that i am not looking for issues, they pop up like on a private server.
I think the level 50 is intended, supposing that during release, all level 60s will be brought down to it. Though since max is still 50 right now, it is a bit weird.
Things break especially when new systems like a squish are brought in. But it seems to be a thing to have no patience for bugs these days.
Let’s admit it though, this prepatch brought an exceptional amount of bugs compared to other patches.
I haven’t gone digging through previous patches lists of known bugs but I don’t recall them being particularly longer or shorter than what we currently have.
It’s a whole new system being introduced, I just can’t get upset when things break. Yes some thins can be inconvenient. People just need to google to check it’s not a known issue and report the bugs.
Back in Wrath I had a bugged quest chain that I had to wait nearly the entire expansion to be fixed. It didn’t bug for everyone so it was more complicated to fix. Other things were so broken only a GM could brute force you through.
I dont recall things appearing and disappearing from my screen like the quest tracker, I’ve never had bags and action bars freeze or open and close on their own, I haven’t had mechanics refusing to work like chromie time not ending for some people, I’ve never seen quests appearing for some characters and not for others when both are newly created. The list is long.
But hey, record profits so let’s fire some quality assurance, what can go wrong.
Oh I see you just want to have a pop at Blizzard.
pop
I always want popcorn, nice salty popcorn!
Did you check what level those starting zone mobs were for you when you party synced? I only tried once party sync in prepatch and what it seemed to do it didn’t lower my friends level but it raised the mobs to his level instead. Didn’t it used to work other way around?
They were level 30 for me and 1 for my friend. Meanwhile, I’m lvl 50. Enabling party sync gives you a message that your level is restricted to 50 too. The quests also don’t give a chance to receive the party sync goodies that existed before the patch. The quests are actually gray for me, this wasn’t the case before prepatch. It’s seemingly acting like I didn’t turn on party sync.
