Yeah, I definitely see the “we both overcame our use of bad rechargeable batteries” angle, but it still seemed very forced.
The whole allied race thing in generally seemed a bit weird to me, especially (and only) with the Horde factions.

I’ve never liked Allied races, really. They’ve all been incredibly low effort and generally most should be customisation options at best. There’s probably like 4 valid races out of all of them and even then that’s a stretch.
Nightborne and Broken shoulda been Legion races, while Zandalari and Kul Tiran shoulda been BFA.

Void elves were the most blatantly obvious filler race I’ve ever seen. Pulled out of their bum in a single patch to cash in on ‘blood elf model for alliance + cool purple darkness!!’.
Lightforged draenei are not much better but at least the Army of the Light did show up in the first patch of Legion even if they did not have their new models yet by then, and at least they got one patch to introduce themselves properly after that.
Not disagreeing with you on the races, all in all.
Most: Velen (our adorable fortune cookie), Taran Zhu, Occuleth, Farondis, Cairne
Least: Sylvanas, Nathanos, Jaina, Kalecgos, Odyn
Tbh, only the first three come to mind instantly. Everything after, I have to think about.
Best:
Anduin(Lothar), Muradin, Arthas, Saurfang, Garrosh
Worst:
Sylvanas, Jaina,(new) Turalyon, (New) Illidan, Nathanos
Nathanos is the best character of BfA, bar none.
Prove me wrong. You can’t.

Anyway, yeah. Rommath, has more character to him in a canonised fan story than Anduin has had in several novels.

Nah Aerilen just reminded me of my least favourite character in WoW: Genn Greymane.
Went from savage, grizzled old king to leashed dog of Anduin Wrynn, and did a complete 180 backflip on his character at the end of Before the Storm. Get in the bin.

Can’t really say I have a top 5 or worst 5. Overall I don’t really feel as attached to characters or NPCs as I am in other games, mainly because in my eyes the quality of writing, lore and world building has just gone down the drain so bad. Like… what is BfA even from a story perspective? It’s an absolute clown fiesta with 8.3 being the cream of the crop.
One of my favorite characters though is probably Kel’Thuzad and a handful of other bosses in Naxxramas, mainly due to their uniqueness and ominous, creepy lore behind them.
As for characters I really dislike… Sylvanas and Nathanos of course. Khadgar cause he’s just a meme at this point (kind of was in Legion and WoD as well tbh but whatever, I guess nobody knows what he is doing now either). Jaina had a 10/10 storyline at the start of BfA once you quested through Drustvar and did the whole Jaina storyline with her mother… aaaaand that was about it. Everything else was a hot mess of garbage that at this point I’ve just grown used to expect from this company. It’s a shame because Jaina isn’t the only character that had her story arc put in a trash can, all thanks to BfA.
Ah well. Could be worse. At least BfA isn’t a WoD.
Most: Malfurion, Arthas/Lich King, Deathwing, Gul’dan, Mekkatorque.
Least: Sylvanas, Anduin, Nathanos, Jaina, Khadgar.
The ones that first came to mind, I think I’d have a lot more favourites if I gave it a bit more thought.
I think my favourites and such change pretty often, but these are the ones that come to mind!
