Steelbreaker being blacksmith has forged his own armor. It is simple looking, dark coloured set (using Pandaria transmog you can see on profile). Nothing fancy, without unecessary decoration, however it is custom made to fit him well. Made out of saronite mostly to limit its weight. Over time it has been repaired countless time and after missions there tend to be marks of battle over it: dents and such. Maintained on regular basis. It is adjusted to fit Steelbreaker mechanical arm but that’s pretty much it.
About a year ago while adventuring in Blackrock Mountain, Rukkha’s unit found a bunch of old Blackrock supplies. Having just got over a stab wound in the gut, she decided to claim some armour, and wound up with a set of old and scruffy scale mail, the bony design probably meant to imitate the dragons from the mountain.
She promptly smashed some ornamental skulls out of their sockets, and uses the space to store ice for Watercalling.
This is the armour-iest drawing I’ve done of her, although she has since ditched those heavy gauntlets for lighter leather ones, for better dexterity in healing.
Brigante, like most Sun Hawks has two sets, what they semi-mockingly call ‘Red and Golds’ and ‘Business’ attire. The former, as sounds, is lacquered red and gold armour, ceremonial really, or when -really- trying to rub an enemies nose in it. Winged shoulders, winged gauntlets, heck even the cloak has a winged motif. It -does- actually function as armour however, and is perfectly serviceable to fight in, unlike the previous set of ‘Red and Golds’ which had ridiculous Pauldrons that would make nocking and loosing a bow impossible. It is entirely possible that such was the reason for a rethink on the design structure, as Brigante did have an unfortunate habit of ‘losing’ these impractical pauldrons.
His ‘Business’ attire is much more bland, by definition. It is an oiled and greased chainmail hauberk, with Hardened leather over it. The chainmail is oiled/greased with black, so that it does not catch the light in darkness, and it does not make the stereotypical clinking noise that chainmail often does, frankly, it also prevents rust and makes it easier to maintain. It is armour designed for stealth, for a Farstrider, not the gaudy threat of his aerial/ceremonial armour. The leathers are dyed grey, or wan green. Never black. Black is for amateurs, amateurs and those without decent low light vision. Black stands out almost as much as bright colours at night, it makes a target of you. Nothing is stark black at night, apart from the sky, so wearing black is a sure fire way to get noticed. (True facts, Black is an -awful- colour to wear if you are going for stealth). Usually he is further enshrouded in the cloak he was granted upon his promotion to Ranger-Captain, which when he pulls it around him, shrouds him from sight for a short time, to all but the most observant of foes (Because like, ‘Chameleon Yo’). His armour is a bizarre dichotomy, like himself. There is the glitz and the show of things, the bragging and blare, and there is the studied attention to being unseen. The two are direct contradictions…
That means my Heritage armour would basically be Male pattern Baldness, faded tattoos and a lingering air of regret at being born in the crap decades. Oh and Shell Suits. -Just to clarify, I have never, and never will wear a Shell Suit-.
Thank F***ing Gods we have got to a time where that question needs to be asked, That gives me hope for a brighter dawn for humanity…
It was a hideous ‘trend’ in the late 80’s early 90’s possibly because we were hoping the Soviets would nuke us all and put us out of our misery, of Elasticated Nylon clothing, that would puff up, usually in day-glo colours, Top to bottom. Oh yeah, no redeeming features here, you had a -Shell Suit- Torso, trunk and legs, They made a noise when people walked in them, a constants ‘Hiss hiss hiss’ and they were an affront to the eyes. You would be like “Gorbachev, stop being a Good Guy, Godsdammit, and just nuke us now, I can’t take this anymore!” “Hiss hiss hiss” I once saw an entire family, mother, father, two kids, in matching Shell Suits…Gods help me, I was only 17, but I had seen the horror, had the world ended then, I could have taken it with equanimity.
I’d link images, but ehh, you know Blizzard’s new system, they support the fearful, But if you google ‘Shell Suit’ you’ll get an idea.
For a couple of years you felt like you were living in an alternative world, as all these people walked about in their Shell suits like it was -Normal-!
Yo wtf you’re like really, really old… If you remeber that nonsense…You had like short-movies about how hiding underneath your schooldesk would safe you from a nuclear fallout and everything D:
“Protect and Survive” Yeah, we had that. Apparently painting your windows with white paint would protect you from radiation, and you could make a little bunker by unscrewing the doors in your house and leaning them against the wall, and whatever you do, don’t panic and try to run away, as then ‘Heat and Blast’ would kill you. The sound effects/music for that still chill me to this day. 7 year old me believed that you could hide from a Nuclear Bomb, like the films on the TV told you how to do. 45 year old me knows that they only broadcast those videos to make sure people stayed in their houses, so as not to clutter up the roads and allow the military to move around quicker. Plus, it made graves registration easier. Not that anyone would need graves.
I saw one of those movies to! They showed it to us in a lesson when I was in the military! And then they told us that if the mushroom cloud is bigger then your thumb, you’re to close and a goner xD
