One of the most broken things in your games, are the queue times. Most queues are broken, random BG takes ages, solo shuffle takes ages (years), dungeon queues take ages. Your queues really make people not want to carry on with this game. There are millions of people playing, yet the queue times are still high.
Some people have lives and need to work, we don’t have time to wait around for such a long time to be able to play. Especially when we pay monthly for this.
That’s not a solution, it’s a demand. A solution is something that consists of propositions of how things could be improved. I’m kinda amazed that such simple concepts need to be explained specifically.
Solution: coppy and paste LoL matchmaking system and remove premade groups, if there is no healer or tank attend mechanically OK tank or healer BOT. Force people into matchmaking, and make possible premade groups with your friends only.
Exactly so to make the problem easy for you to understand:
Let’s make a scenario:
At a point in time there are in the queue for dungeons:
30 tanks
20 healers
200 dps
Then that means that there are 20 groups formed instantly.
Then there are 10 tanks left, with 140 dps. Now the players “wait” in the queue for the next healer that gets instainvited and a group is formed.
All this is from the dps perspective. Healers and tanks get insta queues and enjoy the game without waiting.
Exactly, its a community problem, and if you are someone that just plays dps, then you are part of the reason the high queues exist.
I would be tempted to do Alterac Valley on leveling alts if it was giving huge XP but as it is right now, it is not worth being turned into some Orc’s scaled leather bag for a fraction of the XP one can get in an optimized leveling route
In Final Fantasy they revived PvP by creating a small battle pass that gives new emotes, extra UI decoration and transmogs. It doesn’t take too long to get it all with some dedication but along with a whole revamp of the mode, they did increase participation.
You don’t need much in the end, just make a mode more fun to play with cool rewards and people will dive in it.
can you define queue?
do you only count the autoqueue content? (non rated pvp, non mythic dungeons + lfr)?
If so I’d sooner say that the real issue is that those modes of content quickly become obsolete in a season.
I think that with seasons being a thing a majority people are constantly trying to push their own player powerbefore the next season starts and don’t feel like they have any time for these types of content which are outrewarded by world quests… Solo players aren’t likely to engage with these so the pool of players thats left for actually queueable content (non rated pvp,non mythic dungeons, lfr) is probably just incredibly small.
Yeah, being DPS sometimes sucks in this game. Tanks and heals getting insta invite most of the time.
There are no good solution to this at this point of time. Possibilities are:
Make queuing for tanks and heals more appealing. They kinda do it with bonus for them, if the system see the big shortage at the current moment. Don’t really help, because of the different reasons - bonuses are not great, no alarm for the bonuses, most of the people can’t just decide to queue as tank. If they provide more bonuses - tanks and heals will abuse it by thinking “hm, no bonus now, I will not queue and wait until there will be a shortage”.
Make activities, which requires no or less tanks and heals. Usually results in boredom fest of island expeditions and scenarios. Classic WoW 1-1-3 dungeon formula still works the best in the game.
“Replace” tanks or heal with something where there is a shortage. For example put 5 dps in group, but give them -30% damage taken and passive +5% hp in a second (just random numbers here). Could work in theory, but will require a lot of balancing, which is not a best suite of Blizzard.
So I would not expect the situation to be changed in near future or ever. “You are tank? Everybody loves you, take this insta sum. DPS? Suffer, nobody really needs you unless you are over geared oneshotter.” is kinda of nature of WoW for a long time.
Runes that you get are actually kinda appealing. You can either use them yourself (in the raid, for instance) or sell them at the AH and get a solid gold bonus (adding to 500g you get in the first place).
The 3rd option looks really delicious, and it also would reduce the waiting time for dps, but again, as you already said - it’s all about balancing which is, as we all know, not the strongest trait of Blizz.
It also worth mentioning, that queuing time depends on the time you are playing. I noticed that even if I queue as a tank, it sometimes takes me full 10-15 minutes to get an invitation. This usually happens when I play in the middle of the day (Moscow time), but I got insta invites after midnight. Guess more people from Europe play at this time.
