I recently saw a video ad about gold and boosting servies for WoW while browsing videos on youtube…
the LFG tool and trade chat is overflowing with these gold sellers and boosting services…
As a regular player I find this really annoying since Blizzard technically do not approve of such services… yet it seems like blizzard does nothing or very little to prevent them both in game and outside of the game.
I understand that it is probably harder to influence what is happening outside of the game, but for how many more years will you allow trade and the LFG tool be used as a commercial platform?
Sure I see this being said about blizzard all the time in regards to this topic and to a large extent it is probably true. However, it doesn’t mean that we should just accept it. I would like to see that they take a stance and stick to it.
Blizzard’s current behaviour is very hypocritical and I think many of us consumers would prefer that they would support boosting services openly or actually do something to reduce them. I would personally hope that they would reduce and stop boosting and gold services.
Real money trades are banable and blizzard is actually trying to execute that, gold boosts however is another topic… This is not prohibited, only thing forbidden about that is lfg tool, but there are no execution in getting down offers in the tool, still allowed in trade chat.
The thing why blizzard allow it is simple… Money. Every booster have to pay sub, price of boosts are too high for new players to just farm the gold, so they can buy a token, which is more money. Some of the boosts costs like 150€ depending on realm.
Yeah I guess, but a lot of these services I see on youtube, LFG, trade lead to websites that want real money. Also, I can imagine this environment of boosts is making a lot of players leave the game as well… If I would make a pros and cons list to quit my subscription it would def. play a part.
I can’t help but wonder if Blizz is some how profiting off bigger boosting companies who can afford to run sponsored ads and professional looking websites…
Sometimes I just feel like they ban the little guys.
But it’s 2am and conspiracy theories are appealing.
I’ve never seen anything outside wow so can’t comment on that.
If i would be a newcomer I’m sure that i would quit after seeing that another ppl can buy achievements and even gear(if you consider buying +14 for weekly chest) that i have to work hard for.
I am getting WoW boosting adds on my local newspaper adds, and other normal websites I visit. Been doing so for months now. I would assume people are earning money on this since they advertise like that too, and not just ingame.
I don’t mean the people that sell boosts privately once in a while, but professional websites that sell boosts for real money. Also, I assume that some websites accept large amounts of gold which they can later sell for real money again.
Just this last week i noticed new forms of ads in the que’s.
Guild recruitment ads which were not a thing before. And now placeholder ads for raids at some unspecified time in the future.
The boosting and everything surrounding it is getting out of hand.
Cant use trade chat. Not used it since cata and even back then it was bad.
I have two months left on my sub and due to my age i am now hanging up the boots.
Number one reason for stopping wow when my time runs out?
Blizzards feckless attitude towards banning of WTS ads in the que’s. I am inconvenienced every single time i look at the ques as i have to filter out dozens and dozens of groups that have no business there. This wastes my time.
And as a paying customer to be treated like this is insulting and i cannot, anymore, give my money to a company that slaps me in the face.
So. Good bye wow. My time here is limited. Getting AOTC and then adios. Bon voyage.
No you cant have my gold. I have plans for that.
This is the #1 reason for me to stop now. Seriously.
I remember that WOW was a prime example on punishing offenders. Bots? Perm bans. Simple. Guilds that promotes something in outside word? Perm ban.
Strict moderation, I could not see a single bot back then. Today WOW? Not so much.
I also remember that I made a topic that WOW does not feel like a subscribtion based game. It is more like a F2P game. It is ruined by poor customer service (try raising forums ticket), ruined by bots, and washed with advertisment.
This game is not the WOW that I always wanted to support to 12 Years. It is garbage in every possible way and to make it worst they filled with outside politics.
That those services violate some in-game rules won’t mean much. They have to either misuse Blizzard’s IP, brand or something else meaningful. And even then, the costs don’t weigh up against the results since they can just make another site and service and continue.
In-game via the trade chat is allowed, if no real money is involved.
Any ad in the LFG tool is reportable.
They even changed the rules a little, accounts which are solely used to advertise with will be closed down.
