Total BS been playing since 2006 and I’m well aware that if Wow hadn’t changed it would be dead now, and I think it’s better now for me at least than it’s ever been
Other spec? No, these were baseline spells, every paladin knew consecretation and not just prot. Yes it was empowered and more usefull on prot (AoE tanking) but mine on the ret spec was glyphed to make everything standing it to be slowed or to heal me or teammates (while still doing a bit of AoE damage). Want consecretation back nowadays? It’s a talent now. A good 1st step is to add stances, seal and presences back. Then add back spells that were pruned. That would be a good 1st step. Give warlock some curses back for example.
And yes of course 7 buttons you activly use is much but I don’t mind it like it is on DH (Eyebeam is 30 cd for example) so while activly used and not being a big CD it isn’t like you need to hit Eyebeam every 3 global CDs. It comes up reguarly but not too few to consider it a big CD or too often to feel strained.
OK, I’ll take nibble at this.
As you said yourself, you used Arcane as an example. It’s not me that brought it up. Also Arcane is an easy target for the “AWW WoW is so dumbed down now” crowd, I just merely pointed out that it has always been this way… Albeit not to the extreme it is, but lets not pretend and WoW class has ever been difficult to play. It ain’t Dark Souls.
Blizz don’t have to defend anything, they make a game and it is up to you to choose to play it or not.
Personally I am really enjoying it, the story is solid (maybe a little slow paced compared to Legion, but hugely better than WoD).
Art and Music has blasted it out of the park as usual.
If I were to be hyper critical, I would say the classes play OK, though I would like more on the action bar in the context of Class Identity and flavour and not particularly rotation (Symbiosis used as an earlier example).
Gear distribution doesn’t feel great. We’ve given Azerite gear a go and I much prefer Class tier gear of old, also I would like to see the reintroduction of Justice, Valor, honor and conquest points with their respective vendors (Cata & MoP system).
World quests are starting to get a little tedious, I would like to see a mix of dailies and WQ’s in future expansions to mix it up a bit.
There, constructive criticism without the-
If you’re going to highlight a perceived issue, say how you would like to see it resolved and put forward a solution, not just a problem.
Also, lets not be so combative, we’re all playing this game that I assume you enjoy or else why play it eh?
Have a good day
That other guy you say I told to stop his sarcasm was just because they were being sarcastic for the sake of it.
When I replied with sarcasm to the guy your refering too, is because he felt the need to verbally abuse me in the process of stating his opinion.
Ever heard of the saying, there is a time and place for everything?..Yeah?.. Well that was one of them moments.
Always heard criticism about Asmongold and how he’s such a toxic human waste that bullies others and are generally the worst type of player there is.
Then watched one of his videos on YouTube, that guy is funny as hell and made some strong points.
I feel like many people let their feelings into it and so they down play things they don’t like while making the things that they do like seem like they are the best.
Also impressions matter a lot, like there has been some youtuber who many people have posted his videos which start with him holding a huge drawing board with some outrage text on it, Always found that annoying and it depreciated the Youtuber for me, but I’m pretty sure if I gave their videos a chance I would probably change my mind on said youtuber.
Still I feel some people might take their videos to seriously and become activists and raid blizzard HQ you never know how people may be influenced sadly.Because that’s what I’m afraid of with today’s too fragile society.
I kinda wanna raid Blizzards HQ, only to distribute candy and thanks!
#Soon™ I will be at blizzcon, almost graduating and My job is guaranteed! so I will be saving up and gonna use my first allowed vacation to go there!
2 of my biggest pet peeves: Following someone else’s opinion because ‘its cool to do so’ and hyperbole.
The problem is; being negative is making youtubers money. So they do it (not all, but many are). So that coupled with the two problems I mentioned above… Yeah… trouble.
That’s funny coming from the side who’s first argument often is: “Well a youtuber said it once so you’re just a mindless sheep who follows their opinion”. Like we were all blank slated before coming across them, no we just found to represent our issues the best. they stop doing that, I stop pointing out the double standard that is being applied. If you can’t act well respectfull then why would I, “Well T&E, said that on YT so your argument is invalid! You’re just a sheep”. I never once said that but constantly have to hear how I’m just a mindless sheep for following others. So once again I will point it out. That’s not me being childlish about it that’s me pointing out you apply different rules to both sides. And if it’s one thing I hate is double standards. Like we saw in this thread anything positive is your opinion but anybody negative has just been brainwashed by evil greedy youtubers, yeah no dice.
Not necessarily, being negative can work as a good clickbait, but a lot of other youtubers are bigshots because of different personality traits.
Kakio ( Sarcasitic ) , Carbot ( Funny and positive ) , Dafran ( Positive & Trolling ) , Xqc ( Well… ) , Nobbel87 ( Informative and immersive ) Army Heroes of the Storm ( Memes and hots funny moments ), YourOverwatch ( Discussion and Explanation ) these are just examples of not being negative yet being fairly well received and liked by a lot of people.
Except for Nobbel I have no clue who any of those people are.
I don’t watch any ‘let’s play’ type stuff. I don’t want to watch someone else playing a game, I want to do that myself.
What I watch is news, reports on PTR stuff, theorycrafting. That sort of thing.
Please quote where I said that, you are the one that has first mentioned Sheep Must have the Arcane Mage still on the brain . I in fact said everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I’ll do it for you-
It’s a bit presumptuous to assume what side I am on (if there is a side) and what my first arguement might be, look further into my poost and I do have criticism for the game. The difference is mine is constructive and not sat on youtube shouting about it.
I stand by this comment whether you agree what the bozo says or not, so long as it is your opinion and not just echoing other peoples thoughts for the controversy and click/likes/smash the button/bell give me ad revenue yada yada.
Like I said, lets keep it pleasant and not combative.
I don’t need to watch a youtube video to come to the conclusion that bfa is dross.
I am guilty as charged I watch them all especially hots moments channel since I play hots in my off time when I want to take a break from wow and play a moba that day. Because I used to play mobas a lot back then.
I must admit that I give YouTube not account, whatsoever, when I look at the game.
I like to make my own opinion of the game. Some will disagree, others will agree, the vast majority of people won’t give a damn about what my opinion is. Exactly as should be the case.
If you need some individual on the interweb to tell you how to think about the game then you need to look at how you make decisions when there is no-one making money by posting their view online.
Asking me if I have seen some specs is actually kinda funny. I am dev of MaxDps addon, I know all and every spec from ground up since about the end of pandaria.
People are thinking more buttons = better. Its not. Back then specs had more buttons but like half of them were not even used. So what is the point of having such spells?
Also what is the problem of having less complex specs? Wanna go complex? go warlock. Wanna ez mode? go bm hunter. The fact that there is high variety of difficulties across specs is good thing.
Most people who complain about class design have no clue what are they talking about. I admit that there are specs which are lacking but there are also fun to play specs.
Also there were only a few points in my wow 5 year history I could have some serious objections about class design (and remember, I know all of them). One of them was legion MM hunter which proved for me to be the hardest to write rotation for. And pointlessly hard to be exact. You can see my struggles on github repository.
Also a short note on WQ giving 395 gear. You seem to be forgetting that between 395 and 400 is a big difference. Not to mention 410 from chest and 415.
Difference between 400 and 415 is vast. Probably double the dps.
So i don’t see why would that be a problem for anyone. Its not like gear = skill.
Tl:dr : I got tilted by a random post so I decided to flex on them with me being a dev of some random addon while invalidating everything they say. because I’m an addon’s dev.
Sure I am tilted when someone who has no clue about all specs are speaking that class design is bad. Its like watching a movie trailer and then writing a full fledged review afterwards.
Quite the statement, know what every spec to arcane mage! 1-3 buttons you press reguraly rest are just long CDs! Best class design ever! Like I said I mentioned some of the biggest problem specs or they pretend it’s fine because they count a 2 minute CD into the primary rotation thus it’s not a 3-4 button spec! Yup we aren’t devs so we don’t know anything. All specs are fine everybody complaining they lack something, how prunning hurt them alot, feel less engaging and/or are just plain boring are just noobs who don’t know anything!
The expansion where class design is at it lowest it’s ever been and people pretend it’s the best ever. Not all specs but a large number and/or many of them are in this state, interesting to read many also cite boring classes as a reason to quit. How do you get a boring class? Prunning, just removing more and more options, buttons and choice (seals, stances and presences for example).
But oke I get it, having no option to switch seals on my paladin or being able to open with a frostbolt as fire mage improves my gameplay! Never had so much fun! I also didn’t say all specs I said DH is in a good place considering on your definition they 5-7 much used skills (I say 7 including 30 sec CD Eyebeam). That spec feels active, like you always have mutple options but many specs I’m just spamming 1 generator. Upkeep of a debuff? Nope pruned away, changing seals midfight to push a little more dps? Nah! Pruned! Nope I’m complety wrong, class design has never been more fun! It’s weird how I enjoyed my lock during MoP so much but this expansion I loath it, but nah those are just nostalgia glasses. Frost DK felt way more rewarding and active in MoP/Cata but I must be wrong.
Just because some people find these simplefied and pruned specs an improvement (or they never knew better due to starting post-MoP) doesn’t mean everybody has too. For me it’s mainly the content in BfA that’s feels dead since it’s too easy and feels more like bribing me to do it than to actually make it engaging, but also noticing how less engaging every spec feels nowadays is a good 2nd. I zone out more and more playing those specs.
Hey if people don’t wanna use Plaque Strike on a frost DK if they unprune skills or wanna switch presences to adapt to situations then you simply don’t. People like me can and will find the specs more fun and engaging again.
1 question, where are the 110 and 120 talent rows? Why did they outright delete almost all artifact skills? Why not instead of deleting them or making them a talent added them to the leveling process? 100-120 you get 0 skills. Spread the actives out over this and semi-passives (passives that alters a baseline skill or adds something to it like fire mage shimmer/blink heal on the artifact). Pruning aka class design is one the biggest complaints right now. Just adding 1-3 things back per spec will make a big difference. Just geting seals back on my paladin will give me a fun boost along with making consecration baseline again. Then change the talent: “Consecration now also heals you and your teammates while slowing enemies who stand on it” like the old glyphs did before they were pruned away just to be made cosmetic only.
I browse class forums just don’t post alot there. Not because of lack knowledge but because somebody else already said it (so I just like those posts). I heavily agreed with this for example: Destruction used to be so good in wotlk
It’s like assuming a reviewer reviewing a product has no merit because you think they didn’t experience the full product.
It’s like invalidating a reviewer’s review because said reviewer complained about an aspect of the game without playing the whole game in your case it’s oh you didn’t do ALL the side quests and every examined every little corner in the game THEN you have the right to complain if you don’t like it.
We can go on forever.
Also if the trailer sucks then I’m pretty sure the movie can also suck and the “reviewer can have legitimate concern” but in reality your whole comparison isn’t fair because the player already has the game and is playing it and isn’t satisfied with it.
Complaining about class design when they don’t like their own is fair.
Complaining about class design when they don’t like multiple iterations of it is fair.
Complaining about class design when they’ve seen it all and don’t like it all is fair.
