Notorious Error 1016, cant play new season

The same issue here… It’s weird that many players have never had that problem before s20… It must be something wrong on the Blizzard side.

Hello I am having the same issue. I have been playing on XBOX for a couple of years and bought PC version today to play with some friends during the lockdown period. I thought the issue was related to increased traffic due to lockdown but it seems this has been an issue for a long time - never had these problems on XBOX, same network! Will someone from Blizzard support assist? We can’t just keep flushing DNS and praying problem goes away.

Console servers are hosted by console makers. Therefore, technical support is provided by console makers, not by Blizzard. Please refer to this article for details:

I have the same problem for almost 1 month … still nothing has been fixed from Blizzard … I am wondering that the problem still persist. It is highly frustrating while a playing get this error. The whole game is not playable because of that. I am still waiting that will be fixed. The problem is caused by some setting od blizz servers as I read the whole conversation above.

Blizzard do not understand that this is happening thousands players in one day so the error all of them. We all have one moment bad internet.

Lots of countries now have people forced to stay home to avoid contact to prevent the spread of a pandemic. As a result, lots of them are at home during the day on the internet rather than at work. Home / consumer connections are provided at a much higher contention ratio than business connections. So, the reason lots of people might be having problems with their connections is due to the fact that lots more people are attempting to split the bandwidth between them than they’re used to.

As per usually… Blizzard does not give a shit about its community of gamers/customers… expect no response from them on a possible fix for this error 1016… we will NOT get one… this problem started with season 20… and will not be resolved by season 30… not to mention Battle.net app disconnection every 45 seconds… Done supporting blizzard on any of their half assed products…

Nothing works for me with the exception of changing to ‘America’… it’s a cop out to suggest it’s PC or local issues…

Exact same issue my side. Cannot play for more than 5 minutes at a time, without getting the error.
Sometimes even when logging in I get the error 1016.
Also noticed my battlenet app disconnects whenever this error arises.

Yesterday bnet app had an update, and after that update i got hard time even logging into the game, took me 7 tries to log yesterday and today 6, and obviously error 1016 is still present. What the hell is going on blizz, more and more players post here, hoping to get their issues fixed so they can enjoy your game, myself included, and nothing has been done.

I am having the same problem, wrote them a ticket, they said the usual stuff, flushing dns, rebooting, power cycle… then they told me the problem is on my end… yeah right

I have the same damn issue, Keep being disconnected every 2 damn minutes on EU… if i Select NA no disconnections But pings of 350ms upwards with no disconnections… did a Ticket and the also got the same usual BS support… this has been going on for months… Could not play season 19 and now Season 20 also down the drain… WTF Blizzard are you forcing your players to quit on your SHIT services and support and stop playing all together now???

Sooooo I’m just starting to get into the diablo world. Always heard good of these games, so i decided to give it a try. Buy it, install it and starting to play… or at least I thought. Error 1016, before even choosing the character and it keeps popping up. Managed to play like 5 mins in like half an hour. And now i find this dicussion… had i known about this bs before I would’ve save my money. Thanks for the great welcome Blizzard, I’ll be very very careful with your products in the future and I’ll mind to share the experience whenever I get a reason to do it

It is always amazing to see a company blame the end user for issues happening not to a few but to large amounts of them. I had no issues this season, until an updated to the bnet app. Since then, tried 4-5 grifts, and always drops before I can even get half way.
This is NOT a connection issue on the player’s side. This is NOT an issue of internet overload (I played for hours last weekend, and we were all still in quarantine then). This is an issue of bad coding and botched updates.

I’ll be waiting patiently for a fix. Until then, will invest my time in a different game. Some place where the company actually appears to care for it’s consumers.
