well well gratz for u, ofc if u dont want to do that content there is no content its the way it is. Accept it that retail is M+/PvP/Raiding nothing else and dont be fooled Delves wont change a thing about the game, dont expect to get Mythic raid level gear or even End boss HC gear from Delves.
u see this is my problem with people like u, Why do u pay for an MMO when u even DIDNT touch 10% of the Content there is in this game? no u rather say on the Forums that M+/PvP/Raids isnt Content, i mean if i was u U ARE WASTING YOUR MONEY.
But the OP doesn’t want to make full use of his sub… It’s like going to the gym, using every tool once on low specs and then complaining that there isn’t anything new.
the game has no content, you clear the raid on week 1 or 2 and then your only option is to run the same 5 dungeons over and over again for 10 months waiting for the next raid to come out
Why anyone would need everything from that zone? Especially, if they don’t like it aesthetically? All the cosmetics and mounts look in the same style. Nothing interesting, no diversity like in SL…
If you are only ever going to do a one time play through all MMOs are going to be very short term content. It’s just the wrong genre. Even a single player RPG has main storyline and lots of side objectives that you can spend ages doing. However if one basic playthrough is all you want, you got it!
The key comment in that quote is
I am not saying that ANYONE should grind out every last thing from content. However that is wholly different from saying there is nothing to stay and get. I still have loads of content to collect and take part in, but that’s me!
But no MMO is going to churn out one time walk through content at the rate that a player like that will want. Not even a single player RPG can. Take BG3. If you are only going to play through once, you’re not going to get anywhere near as much out of it as other players will. If you haven’t got a huge list of save points to go back to, you’re missing out
That’s still their prerogative. On the upside you’ve got lots of time to play lots of games if you only want to see it through once. Win!
I think it’s more that WoW doesn’t have much beyond the initial playthrough – besides collecting – whereas in the past it had a bit more.
I can level some alts, but it’s the exact same leveling experience every time. Same zones, same quests, same NPC interactions.
In Shadowlands you had different Covenants. In BfA The Horde and The Alliance had different quests. In Legion each class had its own Order Hall. In Dragonflight there’s nothing, and that’s odd for an MMORPG.
Some people have argued their own grave here, but I haven’t, so I’ll point the following out as well:
Torghast, Island Expeditions, Warfronts, Mage Tower, Heart of Azeroth, Artifact Weapon, and so on, all provided stuff to do that had replayability.
In the absence of anything like that there is only collections. And if you’re not interested in collecting every kind of chin beard for the various Dragonriding mounts, then there really isn’t much to do.
And finally, even if you are into collecting pleasing aesthetics, then WoW has become so singularly-themed that if you don’t like the theme of the particular patch – nature in 10.2 – then you’re out of luck, because all the new content shares that theme. Every helmet and sword and back piece is themed around the Emerald Dream. There’s little duality or class themes to be found.
It’s all become so very narrow in its design scope.
Up until now, I’ve always wanted to gear my main and a couple of alts to max casual ilvl. I currently have zero interest in doing that. I think part of the blame is tier sets, which
reduce the value in gearing up beyond getting the 4 piece set. Also, I think the open-world balancing has been bad in 10.1 and 10.2. In 10.1 the hard mobs were too hard and in 10.2 the easy mobs are too weak. Open-world gearing should either turn hard things into easy things, or turn impossible things into possible things. That has not been the case for last two patches.
But ultimately I think the problem is a combination of two attitudinal changes in open-world content:
Solo content and group content are now two entirely separate things in open-world.
Solo content is deliberately low effort easy mode.
This means that DF has no challenging content for solo open-world play.
That’s the worst argument possible, almost as ridiculous as the "Classic has killed Retail!! (again). WoW was losing playerbase numbers in patches once they’ve done everything they wanted (that’s the important factor there, WHAT THEY WANTED TO DO) since 1.1 so this is nothing new. In fact watch the playerbase numbers shoot up again next patch or even minor content update, all the people you seem to think are indicative of the playerbase as a whole do their usual in rushing to crash through everything they can quickly as they can then run around complaining they now have nothing to do.
Because they crashed through all the content THEY WANTED TO DO and now expect the rest of the playerbase to blindly nod and agree saying “yeah. I got nuffink to do either…” and sit blinking with amazement when someone tells them “But I still have stuff to do” mouthing “but… but… There’s nothing I want to do!”
One of the things I’ve enjoyed with DF is the less grindy factor. Grind has been an integral part of MMOs for years and it’s only in recent times we are seeing them respect the players time more, I’m so pleased they care carrying on with that trend into the next expansion.
This is the second time I’ve seen you mention Dragon Riding customisations in a thread as if all the other cosmetics have been removed from the game. Collecting has been a pretty big part of the game since transmog was introduced and more so since they actually allowed the collections to be in the UI instead of physically having the items. Now I understand it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. But when the comparison is stuff like Korthia, there is still as much cosmetically to collect. It’s just not all on rares. Whilst I personally did enjoy Korthia I detested the ZM mount/pet system. I was pleased they didn’t repeat that. I’m still grinding parts for some of the mounts from raid etc where I still don’t have all the ingredients required.
For me AP grinds are the worst content. Make you play metrics have no place in a monthly sub game IMO. People also complained that they like things to complete, for them to have endings. Until Legion we didn’t really have endless grinds, there were plenty of things you could work your way through but they all had an end point. I personally prefer to complete something and be done with it. That’s just me.
Hopefully things like the solo/group content stuff coming in TWW will appeal to you. We don’t know that much about Delves atm but they look promising. I personally found Torghast very boring but it did seem to vary how much fun people had by what powers they got. Mine weren’t exciting in any of my specs. Mainly went there to grind currency for gear but also some cosmetics ofc.
The Mage Tower did come back although that’s not something that excites me, everyone is different. Probably because I’m a one trick pony and the only one I completed was the Paladin and I don’t think I’ll be getting the book mount any time soon . That one will stay on the to do list for a long time.
The raids may be themed as are the zones but that’s still a lot of different looks, the return of tier sets means I also get off pieces for other class sets. Which is a bonus. I still wear a Venthyr themed mog most of the time though. But I’m not often taken with looks. I have worn the trading post ones a few times but that’s short lived
As horde I had no interest in it either. I don’t think anybody did.
See that argument doesn’t stand.
I didn’t rush through the content. If anything I played slower than I usually do because I have alot more going on at the moment IRL.
Simply the content is easier. For example Season 1 took me 4-5 weeks, whilst I was no lifing the content. But Season 3, took me 2 weeks when I wasn’t playing anywhere near as much.
Granted, I’m probably a slightly better player than I was before, but still not that much better. It’s clear the content is less challenging than before. Even the world content was massively simplified, you could farm 20 renown in 2 weeks and collect all the appearances within the same amount of time.
Whilst you might perceive it as “rushing”, to me I’m just playing the game as I always do.
