2x XP rates on Fresh ERA?

Have Blizzard considered this ? Levelling on ERA is very very slow and time consuming. One of the best things about SoD is the slightly faster xp rates 1-60.

If ERA will only be out for one year before moving onto TBC, it would be worthwhile to make this 2x XP. Currently many people who can play 8-12 hours per day will reach 60 within 1 week, for the average dad gamer this isn’t possible.

For the average player this takes 2-3 months, which will be 1/4 of the servers life span. If 2x was implemented this is only 1-1.5 months and the game might be more appealing for modern audiences. Old ERA is still there after all for those who want 1x rates

I do not agree on that. In retail everything is about max lvl, but in vanilla the journey to lvl 60is atleast as much of the game as end game. Double xp would make you skip out on a huge amount of the game.

I disagree, you can easily experience the full journey at 2x rates. What would you miss out on ? It is not so much faster. 1x is too slow for the casual players with jobs and families.

ERA is much more focused on the leveling journey than the later versions of the game.
While I’ve enjoyed the faster leveling on SoD, and in a way dread the grind on ERA, I think it would be a mistake to fasten the leveling.

ERA isn’t a game catering to casual gamers (and I say that without any offense). It wasn’t designed for casual players in the first place, and it shouldn’t be now. I’m sure they will implement an XP boost till level 60 once TBC begins but they won’t make it available from day one.

Also if you want to fasten your leveling there are addons like RestedXP that can tremendoulsy help you level faster by showing you the most optimal route to level up.

Yet in 2019 even the ones with jobs and families made it just fine. Or do you think we where all still kids back then?

You don’t HAVE to raid MC on day one you know, it will still be there once you hit 60.

Absolutely not.

This is prime example why #nochanges exist…there is no end of demands of making Classic NOT Classic.

What do you mean by “fresh era” exactly? This isn’t fresh era, it’s a new experience with new features and rules. I’ll stick to actual era.

Speak for yourself.

I am that casual player with family ect. I have been against all levelling speed buffs all the way from 2019.

NoChanges never existed, not even in classic/era.

That was why SomeChanges became a thing.

I don’t believe this was the case, only the unemployed hit 60 in 2019, for those with families early 2020 at the earliest

Reaching 60 in one week shouldn’t be your concern anyways. First tier raids will unlock on December 12. I know leveling becomes a chore on second characters and so on. But You don’t have to have multiple active characters at max level.

However, I have always imagined some kind of progressive experience buff. For example,

  1. First character: 100% exp
  2. Second char: 120% exp
  3. Third: 130% exp and this is the hard cap

I know this has positive and negative sides. It maybe needs more thought but WoW leveling, admittedly, is only really fun for the first character in the server. Maybe well rested exp buff can pool 4x more(currently 1.5 level, proposed 5 or 6 level), so you can rotate well rested characters. This becomes really helpful when there are leveling slumps post 40 level.

That’s the good thing, you can play what you want and we who want to play this fresh project can do that. Win win :love_you_gesture:t2::muscle:t2::+1:t2::call_me_hand:t2:

The War Within says hi, and it has all the rusher, GOGOGO, speed levelling mechanics you could possibly desire. I have no idea what you expect to get out of Classic if you bring that kind of retail mindset with you.

I haven’t played Retail world of warcraft since 2013

Given what you want from the game, do you not think that you should?

No, because 2x XP rates is not something remotely comparable with retail. Most private services had 2x or higher rates even in 2007 for Vanilla wow. 2x is not something crazy, it simply improves the levelling experience immensely.

Big no thank you from me. All the mega speedrunning culture across decades has made me a lazy player who no longer cannot easily comprehend the idea of a journey towards a big goal, that is not necessarily the end.

I play Retail, I have to speedrun everything. I cannot enjoy anything taking long in that version of WoW.

I miss my few hour Sunken Temple or Blackrock Depths runs with a large pizza by my side. Alright, we all have grown up since then and may not possess the time to afford that…But those who still can and want…Why take it from them?

I don’t really want to take sides in the current purist and modern sides, but to me, preserving something ancient and golden (in our memories at very least) should be respected. We already are getting major quality of life changes to a product that was considered being closer to the original.

How far do we need to go, in ways that really change the pace of the old relic even further so it completely alienates the audience that has always been loyal?

Since Blizzard doesn’t want to communicate right now to give us any further information, we at the forums will remain divided and at each other’s throats…But until then, I would proceed to pretend the Anniversary servers are both made for the purist and more modern crowd.

Why would 2x rate being “speed run” ? When you have rested xp, this is 2x rate. Do you feel like you are speed running content when you are rested ? Or do you find it more enjoyable ?

Those people who speed run, speed run whether the rate is 1x, 2x or 5x. For those of us who want to take our time and enjoy the levelling journey, but are in our 30s and 40s, 2x lets me enjoy the journey whilst knowing it will not take 3-6 months to reach the destination
