Well my problem is things just don’t sell on ah. Someone mentioned pets , but what pets ? I mean all the pets that drops from rare on the timeless isle , they are so heavily over farmed and everyone has got them. Same with raid pets , when they were brand new sure 5-10k easy. But even the latest Pandaren ones do not sell. People got their achievement they are done.
Transmog … people just don’t have the avaible gold to pay 95k gold for a pair of pants anymore just for a look. They would rather just go farm it themselves. However i’m finding people already got those looks.
bfa mats sells for so little = time investment , i see many multi box druids just running up and down harvest every anchor weed avaible.
Fishing , nearly all the bfa fish don’t sell since mechagon and naj’atar feast changes.

People who into transmog already have the most. You can sell transmog fast enough only if you got something really rare item and post it for 30-50% of its ‘usual’ market price. Materials are only good when they are new. if Blizz will not add new mats you out of luck till Shadowlands.
Most reliable and safe way is farming/aiming for raw gold.
If at the end of the week you have done all the grinds, you can always use the slot machine called “Island expedition weekly mission” chance of getting a 5k gold mission, also just do the rep mission as much as you can on every character, especially the faction one 7th legion, Honorbound. Eventually you will get exalted with those reps and start grinding towards 4-5k gold per emissary chest

I’m doing the grind btw ! made just under 100k on 2 chars running everyone old raid and both lfr’s . Takes a long time tho but it’s a start!

WoD:
Do Highmaul, Blackrock Foundry, Hellfire Citadel, all of them on all difficulies LFR, Normal, Heroic, Mythic. That will earn you 20K-30K depending on RNG. HFC first boss is a pain, but they nerfed it so it is now do-able by all classes easily, if slowly.
That will take about 90 minutes per difficulty, so 6 hours total.
Mists:
Do all raids except SoO on Heroic and LFR. That will get you 10K-12K. You can do SoO as well if you want, for an extra 5K, but it takes an hour to go through it all, unless you do buffs and a speed set.
Doing two difficulties, call it 4 hours for the rest, and another 2 hours for SOO.
Cata
All except Throne of the Four Winds are worth doing, but only Dragon Soul can be done a second time on LFR. About 5-6K in 2 hours, including travel.
Wrath
If you still have patience, Naxx, ICC, and Ulduar will give you 1.5K-2K each.

It was nerfed hard again, takes only 3 ammos to win encounter. They nerfed furance boss in brf in 8.2.5 too to make single bomb takes 30%, but reverted to usual 5% 2 weeks later. So full hfc is easily faster now than brf. Also many hfc boe has unique models and can be sold for few thousands at very least, but they are rare. Worth to keep an eye on loot from trash and sort boe’s out, so they wont be vendored accidently.

This is very true for HFC!
I was farming for a BoE from there, Mythic Cord of Unhinged Malice, for mog set. Then I saw it on the AH on Draenor for 20K (a snip!) and remembered that I had a spare Normal Cord of Unhinged Malice that I had already learned.
So I bought the Mythic version for 20K, listed my spare Normal version for 50K, and it sold within hours, making 30K in the process. 
oh totally forgot you can do normal aswel as mythic thanks for the tip.
