Ever since 8.3 my pc has been freezing and crashing stating not enough memory this has been happening since the update,
I’ve checked other posts and nothings working At all, I just did the kelthuzad fight and my pc crashed due to memory issues, I have more than enough memory to handle wow and my graphics card is great too, a lot of people keep having these issues
The game is becoming unbearable to play now I can maybe get in for 20-30 minutes before the game crashes and then get application is unable to start,
Honestly blizzard you can’t just keep saying it’s add ons, as it’s been proven to not be the add ons, you can’t keep saying that it’s our pcs cause it’s not that either please hotfix this so we can actually keep playing the game your fans are getting pissed
And what would be the exact error message along with your computer specs? Sadly nobody here has working crystal ball to see them without you providing the information. Forum blues probably want the usual msinfo and dxdiag files, too.
If by “my pc crashed” emphasized textyou meant the whole computer including operating system crashed then issue is most likely hardware or hardware drivers.
I ve opened ticket and they said nvidia control panel that working behind could be a problem. I closed it and played game for 2 hours. Didnt crashed once.
EDIT: It seems i was just lucky… I ve crashed once again after i open tha game… This is just sad…
I have two PC, both running Win 8.1 with Nvidia GPU (10x and 20x series), not running any Control Panel or application from Driver.
One has problem and the other running ok.
So? Can you write something useful and constructive or at least read the topic instead of writing this nonsense?
It is said hundreds of posts before that the issue affects both MAC and Windows OS no matter what version it is.
So it’s my grandma, but that doesn’t negate the fact that a younger woman is fitter: running old software instead of upgrading, for free, to the newest version? Uhh, I mean, tin foil hat wearers are everywhere I guess. I just did not expect to find them among us gamers, as we generally need the latest upgrades and stuff to perform better.
I replied multiple times in this and other topics where we discuss the issue, but it doesn’t surprise to see me you are unable to function properly, I mean… you are probably one of those people who uninstall the webcam because hackers are everywhere right? So smart!
I just did not expect to find them among us gamers, as we generally need the latest upgrades and stuff to perform better.
Since when a new software means better performance ??? In what world ? Can I get an invite please ?
From what I’ve seen - I work as an SRE in a large corporation (enterprise software) - usually the development cycle looks like this:
new version (minor / major) of a software is released (after a decent amount of testing (both software testing and user acceptance), of course)
it brings new features (sometimes a lot of new features) (like patch 8.3 in this question, which has changed a lot of things including the APIs used by addons (a lot of changes to UI API has been introduced in 8.3).
it brings new bugs (including sometimes a performance hit)
sometimes it being back old bugs (it’s not like it is unheard of in software development)
then the frantic bug fixing cycle starts, with JIRA boards exploding exponentially with the number of issues reported. Because all the big customers using the given app are now royally p…off…
Unfortunately us gamers , especially in this case, are not Enterprise level customers who can tell the vendor to fix the broken $#∞¢#! or they will take their millions of $ elsewhere
Also in this case - it’s obviously something wrong with the software - as it literally does this:
starts hammering the IO bus franticly doing disk operations when these freezes happen, which suggests some sort of paging happening. And as soon as that operations completes, it goes back to normal smooth operation.
It looks like it is memory / paging / caching related, as it does not happen for me on another rig that is different in only one aspect: has 32GB RAM instead of 16GB in the rig where the issue is happening. And every time it happens - there is a massive spike of IO activity on my SSD storage (which again suggest paging).
What they need to do is to get one of the rigs like the ones that had their specs posted in this thread, and start debugging. Obviously they have other priorities… so that’s that…
And what made you think like that? “One of those people” what do you mean? You will never know what person is behind the keyboard, you speaking to, and all your conclusion is based only on your own perception / refflection / fantasy.
So be gentle or begone.
Zankara, just because you use Win10, doesn’t mean 8.1 is crap.
If you had more experience, you should know that newest version in SW (and unfortunately in general production, even daily usage items) is not a guarantee it will be better. Those ‘shiny new trendy’ features most of the time causing difficulties in everyday usage.
Buibui well said it, working at software development company myself too and see it them.
Still freezing every other minute. I can’t play like that. The freeze lasts for about 8 seconds for me every few mins. My GPU is at 80% most of the time, but when the freeze happens, it jumps to 100% and then while freezing to 0%.
Sadly the support didn’t find any ‘helpful’ answer for me
Hope it’ll get fixed soon
