So I’ve been having issues and maybe this is the right thread to post in.
I have experienced 2 types of freezes. One type of freeze would be the game totalling freezing, no black screen, and resuming function normally after 5-10 seconds. The second freeze would be a seizing of the client like type one, but followed by a black screen. The most recent freeze had a black screen, then my monitor lost signal and I had to restart my computer.
I have a 1070ti on windows 10. On the american forums, there is a pinned thread to do with nvidia gpus, so I guess it is the problem.

My problem got worse today. Now every time the game freezes, i have to turn the computer off and on with the button on the case. Now when the game is frozen, the monitors’ signals are gone. I started to worry about the computer being damaged. Please do something about it.

I always have this problem when in Boralus. It happens 2 or 3 times a day. But today i lost my 5 mask SW try because of it. Sad that there is still nothing about this and the last response is over a month ago.
After 15 freezes in 3 minutes during Valley of Eterenal Blossums assault I decided, that it is enough… switched to direct X legacy. The perfomance droped ofcourse but it is maybe a week, like with no freeze at all.
Two months, a break from the game and a new pc later, my RAM usage when playing WoW is still averaging 70-94%. This was never an issue before 8.3 and I am absolutely disappointed that neither has there been a fix nor a permanent workaround. It should not be that a single game uses up almost 8gb of RAM.
Edit: DirectX version makes no difference.
Just did a fresh install of WoW and resubbed to try the new patch, since I have a lot more free time with all that’s going on right now.
I was also experiencing the freezes many have mentioned, which have never happened before and I was playing during 8.2. Switched to DX11 Legacy which fixed the freezes, but came with a heavy performance penalty on my rather weak machine, which means I probably won’t even bother completing the new raid beyond LFR.
I honestly feel robbed, these issues happen a lot during early patch days which is fine, but it’s terrifying that there’s been such a problem for so long.

Can we get some kind of update like are you still working on this issue, or did you pass it to Nvidia, will the fix be out in weeks, months?

All these issues started about an hour ago for me. It all started when I entered my 1st N’Zoth Vision (the quest right after you get legendary cloak). And these issues sticked, even after completing the vision. I restarted my pc, reset wow settings etc. My ram locks up due to some memory leak.
Blizzard, these issues might stem from the legendary cloak quest line. or N’Zoth visions. I had no issues prior to this questline.
Side note, I tried playing on my alts. which arent max level, and found no issues playing on those characters.

I no longer have the patience to withstand it. Since I was back in the game, it has been freezing 20-30 times every day. It is enough. Today, I wanted to level up my 110 dk character to take advantage of 100% exp buff. In Zuldazar, my screen started to freeze every 2 minutes and the computer turned off twice. I will either quit the game (because I don’t want to play with low fps with using dx11 legacy ), or my computer will be burned.
When will the blizzard make a statement about this problem that has existed since the day 8.3 came?
There is no responsibility left for the player in this regard. Yes, some players do not encounter this problem (my girlfriend is also included) but that does not mean that there is no problem then.
I invite players who do not have this problem to empathize a bit. We know that you have invaded the forums in the smallest internet problem. This problem has nothing to do with addons or our operating systems. If you take a little time and look at what people have written, you will see. Players who face any problem already start by deleting the addons first.
What will be the fate of this situation? Will this problem be solved until the new expansion comes? Is it too hard to make a statement? Are Blizzard programmers desperate about this? Isn’t anything they can do?
Please don’t come to me with words like, have you tried this, have you tried this. Thanks but we tried everything. Every thing. Of course, this does not include buying new computer hardware. I’m not going to scatter a thousand dollars for a broken game. If you want to help us with this, interrogate the blizzard. Not the players who have the problem.
I love Warcraft. I like to give my time to it. But not like this …

What’s happening. It’s a paid service guys wake up!!!
Hey everyone,
I don’t post on here often but I managed to fix my error and I decided to share with you how
- Right click on desktop. NVIDIA control panel.
- Locate over to 3D Settings > Manage 3D settings
- Global settings. Hit Restore. ( this will restore all the settings to default ) and obviously change your power management mode back to prefer maximum performance (optional)
- Restart Client and Launch the game.
DX11 Legacy does fix this error also however it decreases performance significantly and using the steps above it will hopefully fix your error.
That’s not a solution i’m afraid . But im glad to hear that it worked for You ! :>
Damn, let me know when you find out what was your issue, Im curious as to why this is the case
I am experiencing the “wow was unable to start up 3d acceleration” and 132 error crashes.
I have seen it a few times doing dungeons and world content, but once i enter horrific vision or the last pre-Q (invasion of the chamber of heart) before visions the freezes occurs within 15 seconds and just continues with a 5-10 second interval untill it crashes.
Do i dare to say that this fixed the freezin issue for me? It’s been 24hours without any issues. Not in new zones or in raid. Hope this helps for everyone else.
Don’t know if anyone saw the #FixMSF for Marvel Strike Force but erm…#FixWoW anyone?
Guys, I don’t know what happened, but I think my problem has solved. I had no problems for two days. No crash, no freeze, no black screen, no restart… I say for information, I have not played with any settings. I think it’s been working properly since Wednesday. I’m not sure exactly. Can anyone explain if any? Is there a hidden patch or something?
I’ve been using the legacy option and changed it back a few days ago (Wednesday I think), it seems to be working at the moment.
