I’ve got the same issue. Started yesterday with several BSODs so I restored the system (hat might be an unstable windows update, hopefully). I checked RAM and HDD, reseted UI (which extended the time i can play without crash but it didn’t remove it). Also same issue popped up in Classic.
Guys, it is clear they just dont care. Any decent company would have fixed this by now and would have offered some kind of compensation to their loyal customer base that paid for a service but cant use it in a decent way. They hide behind their EULA and any ticket I have issued so far about the issues has been answered with the same BS or rejected refunds as we still are able to login… Customer since '99 and played Diablo and Wow since their releases… amazing what happened to this company. What even more amazing is that there are hardly any good alternatives which says something about the game and the early designers and devops.
Its a shame they let this game bleed to death and ignore their customers who provide solid proof. But as said, they simply do not care anymore…
Just to confirm I’m having the same issue. It’s not 5-6 seconds for me, but after a while of playing (usually 1+ hours), my game starts to stutter every once in a way for 0.5 to 1 sec, but very noticeable.
Restarting the game usually fixes it for a while. This definitely sounds like a memory leak, but I don’t see my RAM usage going up in the task manager.
Currently sitting on 83% RAM usage, WoW itself is using up over 2GB of it. The next highest entry is Firefox with 300MB usage. This is ridiculous. Can we please get some communication from the team that this is still being looked at?
Are you saying 2GB is too much?
Hi All, Also getting the same issue ever since downloading BFA and playing through to 120 and onwards.
Find most of the memory leaks / issue is during Mythic+ when there is many particles on the screen and spell effects, or in tight corridors. As i mostly play Tank/Healer this is a nightmare, with up to 15 seconds of black screen (I can’t alt/tab to anything else during this) The lighting effects on my fans also pause whilst this happens. The other occurance was during Visions of N’zoth when attack on the chamber and it crashed atleast 10 times whilst I was trying to clear the mission. Mental.
During this, event viewer says “Display driver amdkmdap stopped responding and has successfully recovered”
With regards to RAM, when playing the game it gets up to around 58% RAM usage on average.
Moving to Direct X 11 Legacy has improved it, but now i get very short 1 second black screens which also interrupt game play.
PC Specs
AMD Ryzen 5 2600 CPU
MSI Radeon Armor 590 RX GPU
Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2 x 8GB) 3200MHZ RAM
Seagate 2 TB Barracuda HDD (Game installed on this)
Crucial BX500 480GB SSD (for OS etc)
Windows 10 PRO 64
With my specs, I am highly capable of achieving top settings on most of WOW, but the black screens are killing my enjoyment.
-
Latest drivers all installed
-
Have searched and repaired files on WOW incase this is causing it.
-
Disabled all add-ons, but to no avail.
-
Windows updates all downloaded, only built the PC back in Feb, so shouldn’t have any issues with the OS.
Real shame this is, as I know I am running the game with adequate specs, hoping for a fix soon, if anyone could suggest anything i’d be very grateful.
Thanks.
Was thinking the problem was my gpu drivers but updated and it’s still an issue. Having both symptoms with a black screen crash and screen freezing.
Got sent to the forums after raising a ticket about the same issue everyone here has been experiencing for months.
Unfortunately if I cant play the game, I’m not going to pay for it.
Catalina OS as well by the way.
Encountering the same issues here since I installed BfA a few days ago.
Screen completely freezes, sometimes it recovers, other times it crashes the pc completely and I have to do hard reset. Seems to happen more when there is a lot of activity in game (big BG or raids). The game is unplayable.
Event viewer logs Event ID 4101 “Warning: Display driver amdkmdap stopped responding and has successfully recovered.”
This is a load of bs, I was actually thinking of returning to play, but with these issues I am not renewing my sub next month.
It’s so annoying,. but only fix seems to be DX11 Legacy for me, im glad im not the only one with an issue. After spending over £1000 on a PC a couple of months ago atleast i know its not my hardware. Thank god!
Have same problem (get back to wow in 8.3), all this time i have random crashes “not enought memory”, No black screens or blincking just cause have pagefile disabled. Have R5 1600x, 16GB 3466Mhz RAM, RX 570 8GB.
I have the the exact same problem , random FPS spikes for 5 secs even though the sound is fine . I can even press skills and ill hear them hit I dont even know what to do . Changing the directx barely helped .
Installed the game after pretty much a year-ish out and sudden after X amount of time can be from 1min to a few hours my pc Freezes with the lovely sounds jammed in that split second and have to hard reset the pc… this is the only game that i get this issue with i currently have 10 games installed and none do this…
checked drivers upto date (yeah i have a Nvidia 1060GTX)
windows is on 1909 i think
tried all Dx versions still same issue
tried lowest settings still freezing/locking up the pc
oh did the delete folders too
Getting really off putting having just resubbed and now virtually unplayable when i wanna do an instance but have to hope it doesnt break
hurry up and fix this please
Just a heads up - I resolved my issues by lowering my RAM clock speeds. I have an XMP profile and RAM was set to 3066Mhz. Lowered to 3000Mhz and I haven’t crashed since.
Other people have also reported that the nVidia drivers were the cause so it’s worth potentially rolling back to an earlier version or alternatively see if a new update is available for you.
I literally upgraded to a 2000$ PC only to come back and get periodical 3-5 second freezes followed by the game restarting itself. Can you imagine the frustration?
New pc, new OS, fresh wow installed, no addons - yet i get these spikes.
How can you have the guts to tell us it’s on our side!? P.S - ONLY HAPPENS IN BFA, CLASSIC IS OK.
I’m just going to bump this because it still isn’t fixed, and Blues aren’t picking up on it anymore.
So many people with issues, but no response since months. What in the world…
I think Blizzard ignoring this bug, hoping will be fixed with Shadowland.
So pity from such a big company wherein players loosing faith more and more…
Is this the new communication modell they intdroduced at blizzcon? (We listen now).
this needs to get fixed the game is totaly unplayable entering a new zone will drop my fps from 150+ to -30 i’m even getting seconds long freezes with high fps without any addons loaded
Also been experiencin this. Only started about a week ago though and I haven’t made any changes to my pc specs that could have otherwise caused it.
Running on Windows 7 with an Intel i5 6400 CPU, NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1660 and 16GB of RAM.
Seems to occur mostly when loading into The Great Seal or Zuldazar, either the screen goes black, the sound freezes and gets totally locked up requiring a manual reboot to fix; or the same thing happens without the sound freezing and the pc reboots itself.
Highly annoying, I guess i’m fortunate it hasn’t happened during and mythic+ or raids.
