8.3 Memory leaks

Same for me, tried the blue post fix (enabling debug mode) and it did nothing to help fix the problem, this is getting pretty ridiculous at this point, i cant participate in any content without my game basically grinding to a halt for atleast 5-20 seconds this has been happening for a week! i dont have these issues in any other game, switching to legacy dx11 also doesnt fix the issue allthough it seems to make the freezing less frequent.

The fixes linked in the US thread did not work. My gpu is not unstable. Fix your game. I can run very intense stress tests of both my gpu, cpu and ram without failure. All other games work perfectly. Dont tell me to debug stuff.

My gpu driver does not actually crash during the 5-10 sec freezes. Cant find any indication of that in the eventviewer or anything. The freeze happens most often when going between zones (loadingscreens), but can happen at any time.

Having smae problem, tryed clean installs and drivers are updated but freeze and crash seems to come shortly after you change zone or enter instances. No addons installed

Ty , ty ,ty . /hugs /kisses and all.
I can confirm it worked for me. I am playing for 3 hours now. No freezes , no lag , no out of memory message pop ups nothing . I reverted my graphics settings to where i used to have before 8.3 , i loaded all my 15 addons and everything is smooth again . My graphics card btw is GTX 650 and yes i had all those things ppl said in this thread and seriously i was on the verge of quiting this game.
I agree the problem is a memory leak that kept growing whenever i was opening/closing map , group finder, collections, in general , every tab in the UI
Again, Andriar i canā€™t thank you more.

There was an issue once with Radeon Graphix cards. Is anyone experiencing this with a different card? I can just about tolerate the fps drop off which starts when I log on but then my computers overheats and dies. This only happens playing WoW. I have cleaned my laptop inside and out, boosted my fan to max, run diagnostics several times, nothing seems to help.

Temporary solution for now it seems.

Except it doesnā€™t work.

Going to give that a try, thanks

I gave it a try and thought it has helped as I had no lang in stormwind. By the time I went to Boralus and went on flight path, WoW has chugged 8.9GB of RAM and its climbing to 15GB. Its once again freezing.

Hello Blizzard, what are we paying you for when underfunded non blizzard servers do a better job managing lag and performance?

Already tried all the steps from that ā€œsolutionā€ of urs from another thread, but for some reason i canā€™t reply there.
Still nothingā€¦ having the same 3-15sec freezes when using DX11 / 12 (not the legacy one) when changing zone / teleporting / opening map or character page / finishing some major objectives.

Iā€™ve ever done more than what uā€™ve suggested in the temporary fix , thereā€™s nothing wrong with my CPU/GPU or drivers . Done a clean version of my win10 aswell which did not help, but took half of my day :__:

Running with DX11 legacy helps , but i feel like itā€™s just hidding the problem, instead of solving it , plus our FPS when using this version drops to like 20-40

  1. Update your graphics drivers to the latest version
  2. Right click on your desktop and click Nvidia Control Panel
  3. Click the Help menu near the top of the control panel and click on Debug Mode . A check mark should appear if it is enabled. If the option is greyed out, you do not have a factory overclock active.

It seems that this worked. No freezes in 2 hours of gameplay (inspecting other players etc). But after the world quest message appeared - freeze returned. After next insprect - again freeze.
So noā€¦

Having taking my laptop apart and tried every fix I am still unable to play for more than 20-30 mins due to cpu and gpu overheating, with dying fps and eventually my mouse goes haywire and is unusable. this only happens playing WoW. My guildie however has no problems but is using a different graphics processor. From what I have seen so far this problem is limited to ATi graphics.
This happened once a few years ago. I do hope it can be fixed soon. Now at 91 degrees c I have to log out again.

Exactly the same for me, start of the week I tried a M+ and got diconnected like 20 times in that 1 run, and tons of freezes, since then I dont dare to go in visions, or do any group content, since I will waste my vision keys or other ppls time like it is now.

I still have to do all my caps but I just canā€™t until this is fixed, and I tried everything to fix it myself, update everything, delete all addons, totally clean my pc, lowest settings in wow, messed with Nvidia settings, fresh installs, nothing worked so itā€™s def a WoW problem that they need to fix, and they NEED to fix it FAST!
this is taking way to long.

After all of the methods listed before, the freezes continue to appear with eating up to 9 Gb of RAM. Nothing has being fixed since the patch day.

Iā€™m also having these issues. I cannot provide much more information than already in this chain. Usually when Iā€™ve traveled to a new zone and open up char sheet my used memory spikes to near 100% for me that means that wow is using 3,5Gb memory. The game freezes (with a black screen sometimes - black screen will not happen all the times). It lasts around 10 - 30 sec and then its back. After that I can open the char sheet in that area.

Someone on US forums noticed something very useful.

Turning off 3D portraits totally solved my issue (for at least the day, still have to see if this is temporary or not). Which is GPUā€™s driver resetting randomly (this is easy to see if you have ReShade) and RAM being eaten up to limit of RAM you have on your PC and thatā€™s not normal in any circumstance.

This is still an issue on Blizzardā€™s end, since this was working perfectly before 8.3. This has nothing to do with drivers, as I have exactly the same for years (my card is too old to have new drivers, but it was working perdectly fine prior to the patch).

I hope this helped someone. I canā€™t thank this guy enough for this ā€œfixā€ (itā€™s actually only a workaround until Blizzard do something about this).

I have had no 3D portraits turned on in ages, double checked it now (im using shadowed unit frames).
I tried with Debug Mode enabled in the Nvidia Control Panel.
Tried closing the bnet launcher.

Nothing helped, still got both of my screens turning off (driver crash i guess).

Switched to DX11 Legacy, but it runs like garbage (from 100+ in Dazaā€™alor to 45ish). So that is no option at all.
Now im running in normal DX11, which still has lower FPS but only by 10-15% maybe.
The problem with DX11 is, it has really noticable microstutter.
Im running on a Ryzen 3900x, 3600Mhz RAM, RTX 2070 Super with a LG 1440P / 144hz Gsync compatible monitor.

In DX12 it runs butter smooth.
This is really annoying.
Still have to see if the crashes at least stop.
They often seem to happen when i enter a portal, or sometimes just switched from the 2nd monitor.

Maybe it has something to do with changing loads on the GPU or the difference in hz (2nd monitor is 60hz)

Never had such an issue with WoW before.

Yep I think there is actually more than only ā€œoneā€ issue going there. But I also think they should be related in a way or another. Blizzard actually suggests us only workarounds, when this has nothing to do with our setup or anything on our end, for most of us. They should just accept something is going wrong with their gameā€™s client, and (at least) recognize it, giving apologies and trying to work hard on it as their first priority.

Community managers canā€™t do more than doing the messenger between us and the devs. I canā€™t blame them.

I donā€™t use 3D portraits neither as Kiyuki told, a SUF user here too.
Happened that I am using a quite old driver here 398.82 on a GTX 1060 with DX11 with Win8.1, just because everything had been working fine until Patch 8.3 hit. So in my case this is not a new Game Driver issue.
BTW how can we know if a Game version is using and not the other one? From only that Debug on Help menu?
