8.3 Memory leaks

Maybe the leak is in the fact API tries to pull dozen of 3D portraits as cache? This often happens in crowded areas.

The leak still exists, it will still then pull but 2D portraits which are smaller in size and less taxing on processing power.

Have had issues starting last night I am using Windows 10 Pro 1905 and it has ramped up my sli cards to 100% and then the computer has to restart to protect itself the moment I move in the world. This is not my PC is stable on just about every other game it runs and WoW has been a stable game long term and this really makes me wonder if proper quality control checks have been done before the new patches are going live.

I know PTR is there well aware of that but to have such a bug that is making the game unable to be played is just sad I’ve never encountered an issue like this before and it is clearly client related. I could play fine on Saturday as well oh and also this issue actually disabled one of the graphics cards. That is not acceptable. to me get it fixed.

I noticed that, on login, I was like 2.6 Gb in Dazar’alor, and after a while of playing, I’m 4 Gb and it’s still getting higher and higher. People with less RAM will still have freezes I think, this is also why people gets freezes even without any addon as portraits are always used by the game. I’m not sure if this reaches a cap, I mean after hours and hours of playing, I should get freezes again.

Also noticed freezes happens a lot more frequently in Vale and Uldum. A lot more on Black Empire assault. Basically, if you do dungeons and so before zoning in these zones in the current game session, you should have less issues.
People that have freezes without any RAM usage is another issue and they should be aware of that.

Hello guys,
what i see
we have same problem, who has Macbook
this is not problem in our side, or in our graphics, system
 this is problem from blizzard
what i said in other forum problem, WE ARE small group for Blizzard who paid for our game time
Why would they do something? For what? for us? No why, they have more money from other people which can play.
But what is interesting, i thought the is problem ONLY in users who has Mac
Blizard are you okey with that??? this is your reputation? Blizzard they dont care about players with problems
they are only interested in money:-)

Is not Mac users only. Window user here with exactly SAME problem, game unplayable. Also I know plenty of other Windows users
As you say this problem comes from the Client

More like sloppy half baked coding by people with 15 years of experience should know better. The :poop: has hit the fan and what do they do bury the heads in the sand with fingers in the ears. And they always try to find some way to point the finger back at us as they think we are idiots who know next to nothing about technical stuff to do with our hardware.

Hi All,

Freshly updated windows 10, last week no issue whatsoever (finally back to Azeroth) & tonight 3 crashes in 30mins. Game freezes, pc crashes
are there still other players who experience the same?:disappointed:

@Blizzard: over 12 days & not a real fix, while i just ordered the Shadowlands Heroic Edition
 come on😉

Mythic progression about to start and half my raid has client related issues. Crashing on trash and bosses with high amount of adds, screen freezes, display drivers crashing, memory leaks
and still barely any acknowledgement of the problem.

You’re a joke.

It seems that this will be the Mystery of the Century!

I have given up on Blizzard. I am sure they won’t refund me for the fact that I am “playing” the game. Albeit with complete crappy experience of flipping like a goblin on AH and praying I don’t freeze in dungeons.

After my 6 months sub ends I will not be subbing anymore. It is a real shame, I subbed for 1 month to experience the 1-120 experience. Then I loved the whole lore and subbed for 6 months.

8.3 has been an utter failure and now selling me half baked product and ignoring us for 2 weeks is downright disrespect. Blizzard is not a charity nor small indie dev company. They unlike many others require you to pay them a sum of money in promise of good maintenance of a game and development. Yet their quality is atrocious. This thread proves it even further when developers completely ignore us. I feel played. I don’t remember Blizzard gave anyone free 2 weeks of game time just because their life obligations came up and couldn’t play the game, yet now they are completely silent.

I cannot progress in raids and M+ without crashing and freezing.

Should I just unsubscribe or you’ll fix this as soon as possible?

My patience grows thin.

I have the same issue, in raid (looking into the ground, far from the place of “action”) i have drops to 12-17FPS (!) and freeze, only rescue is ALT+F4. My pc is not a potato or garden dwarf:
R7 1700 @3.9GHz
16GB Ram
GTX1080

This s@it it’s started to happen since the introduction of patche 8.3, and has not performed before.

Same. When I’m in a dungeon my camera is facing above the character. It’s pathetic. I can’t believe Blizzard still hasn’t done anything.

After the lovely patch 8.3 release, my game keeps freezing up for 5-10 seconds, like so many others - and i get an error that my graphic card driver has stopped working and has automatically reset it self. I have downloaded (twice) the absolute newest drivers available from Nvidia, and still getting the same error, just with an updated driver number change instead.
I can see that alot of other players are effected by this in one way or another and would greatly apreciate an answer from a Blizz staffer on what/when this problem will be resolved so we can resume normal game play mode. I am playing loads of other games and never having any issues what so ever with the graphic card, so by that definition it is limited to 8.3 release as there were no problems in 8.2.x

Graphics cards resetting in this matter, is usually due to a thermal event. I would check your PC for cooling issues first and foremost. Especially because the 8.3 patch works graphics cards harder than the previous. I notice my cooling fans are working a lot harder.

Graphics were set to max when the patch went on
could it be that for you?

It’s not the cooling.
I have a Gigabyte Aorus 2070S which does not get hotter than 73° under full load.
Paired with a Corsair HX750 PSU and a Gigabyte Aorus x570 Elite.

i can play recent demanding AAA games under full load for hours without a problem but WoW keeps crashing my GPU drivers randomly since 8.3.

I am seeing so many people who, like me, have a lot of issues with game playability in patch 8.3. Most seem to have Ati, with the majority being Radeon.
If you are experiencing these issues and have a different type of processor, could you please leave a short comment.
Thank you
