Last time i messed around with VP was in cata and we were able to outright buy gear with VP. We did not have a convoluted system tied to achieves that will only serve to alienate even more players.
Mind you the weekly VP cap was 1250. Cheapest items were 700 for offhand or wands. Gear pieces were 2750 for chest, 2250 for legs. You had to farm multiple months to get fully geared if you did not get gear in raids.
For somebody like myself, who is older now, this just means i am not able to get upgrades via this path. I do not have the reaction times any more. This is something that you lose when you get older. We are not all 20 somethings who play this game. I was on my way to to 13âs in BFA but that was seriously hard work for me with a lot of fails. More fails than completed. I am not one to have 60+ runs of keys higher than 15âs like i see some people have. This is not me. Which is fine. I know my limits.
But with such terrible, terrible, demoralizing drop rates i wonder really how many players quit solely due to that? Run after run not getting anything for week after week.
Or when you do get something it is a %1 or %2 increase in item level only like has been happening to me. I get items that are better item level in the GV. But they are not upgrades at all as pawn addon shows lower item level items being upwards of %5 better. wtf? The giveth with one hand and then take away more with the other.
Blizzard have screwed up with Valor by not having a vendor to buy gear from like in previous expansions.
When the realisation of the player base on how Valor works have the popcorn ready. In the words of Taliesin âItâs a $#!+ show, obviouslyââŚ
Imagine if PVP players had no vendor selling gear, but they have their upgrade NPC still.
In that setup they would have to spam tens of thousands of hours into PVP just for the low chance of being rewarded a random item at the end of the match.
VP is tiered like rated upgrades are, but rated has a seller allowing you to pick items you want (no ultra low drop rate coupled with extreme RNG.) And once you have rated items, you can spam upgrade them super quickly.
As others already mentioned. The worst thing is the lack of a vendor. It does not matter if you can get valor and +15 clears if your BiS does not drop.
Like a key without the keyhole to go with it.
Back when this randomness was âfineâ, there was just one dungeon difficulty to work with.
I donât know, people have calculated that on release day youâll need 48 dungeons to reach cap on valor.
I reckon that in 48 runs if you are choosy you will pick up one or two or more bis pieces. Itâs irrelevant if theyâre low ilevel because all you want is the piece, once you have it, it has 220 potential after all.
Farm 2s for quick valor (as people will do) and iâm sure ppl will pick up the items they need and upgrade them.
My main issue is there is no incentive to run high keys beyond initial KSM and reducing the number of ranks to upgrade stuff. Iâd argue the far less effort (and time) it will take though is worth it. Is it really worth slogging through several 15s to get that bis trinket where youâll have maybe 6 less ranks to upgrade? Or easier to cakewalk the 2s for it and just upgrade it? Time will tell I guess. I can imagine only the sumpremely overgeared (ie, the upgrades are pointless) will care to âfarmâ for the bis items in the highest difficulty available given you farm the currency required to upgrade them far quicker and easier in +2s.
To be fair, m+ droprate is far from ultra low and extreme rng. In a dungeon there is around 10 pieces of gear which can drop for you, and there are overlaps in this pool with other party members (like cloth armor wearers). If you time a key, youâre guaranteed to get 2 pieces of gear and if youâre doing higher than +15 keys, there is a chance for extra.
If youâre farming a specific item, you can optimize the drop chance by inviting same armor class characters for example. Also with the VP vendor, you donât need to spam +14 keys for the highest gear you can do +10 and upgrade the item a bit more. (So you have a lot more freedom in key levels, you only need to select the dungeon)
but they cant upgrade gear without farming M+ til the item drops.
Which comparitively is ALOT more gold and ALOT Less feasible for the majority.
the current system means they pay for 1x boost of every key then Just spam +5s for the Rest of the patch⌠this system is a 1 off buyâŚ
my idea would require u to buy uptoo 20 runs of the same dungeon.
Also less people will boost, because my concepts more obtainable then this valor system. the current system puts the same roadblocks in the way for those trying to progress making boosting seem essential to participate.
The level of m+ is absolutely relevant because if you farm on m+2 for speed, all your current valor allowance is good to upgrade 2.5 or so of the smallest pieces, or 1 larger piece. So, if you are farming m+2, you are screwed because you will only be able to upgrade one or two pieces. And if you are farming at your m+level, you are screwed because this is going to take an eternity.
Im annoyed because Mythic+ Still lacks a Progression Path for anyone who Hasnt already FINISHED the progression path to the gameâŚ
Ur gonna get to KSM⌠the End game of M+ Progression offically (Anything past this point awards nothing) then start to 220?.. This is like telling someone to progress a Raid⌠and get the loot the next week.
no one cares aboyut the gear AFTER youâve DONE the content lmfao. most take breaks after theyâve reached the end game of it.
P.S Anyone can afford boosts⌠its Litterally a Card Swipe to victory.
For most players, u will be decked out in 223s before opening the way to the 220 Gear thats the issue.
+15 groups are around 220 before they start doing +15s⌠if ur 220 walking in⌠for a 220 reward what exact progression are u using?.. climbing to 220 to DO THE +15s IS THE PROGRESSION.
you are still better off progressing to 220 via PvP to then start doing M+⌠thats simply still the fact, this changed nothing⌠this just made players feel SLightly less bad about playing M+ To begin with.
1 simple reason. PvE guys(some of them) will NEVER be happy no matter what Blizz does. Give them a bar of gold and they will complain that its to heavyâŚ
In pvp, once you got your ranking you are eligible to purchase items for the proper rank.
In PVE right now:
Oh you got KSM and survived the struggle? Nice, now start again and refarm everything at lower levels.
Vendor like PVP, which reflects the effort in terms of Ilvl? Nope
Imagine running 20 +15 keys for one specific dungeon item (~30mins) and still got no luck in looting it. It is just hilarious
Valor system will crash faster than sub numbers if they do not get rid of this s****y loot system
Youâll be able to upgrade one weapon from 200 to 220 (plus eventually few ranks for a cheap item), no more.
I donât even talk about the price who is clearly wtf.
The valor upgrade cost seems way too expansive btw.
135 per M+ no matter your Klvl ? First, this is ridiculous, second, even if you just have to farm +2, itâll take a very long time to get all your points AND youâll be able to max only one big item (if you canât get it from the vault) as I said.
Blizz only implementented it this way to argue later on like: See, we told you valor wont make you happy.
And we will be like: Well, we never asked for heavy grind + no loot
It would be totally acceptable to have this valor grind if the loot system would be deterministic but it is not only rng it is utterly broken since there is effectively NO loot.
Good chance to get into the maw for real, because by the time it takes to get your precious weapon or trinket from a dungeon of your choice, the only thing you raid is a rocking chair during your retirement.
