Background
What is Aria’falore?
A widely unknown sentinel tradition, with its roots in the Long Vigil following the War of the Shifting Sands, practiced by a lesser known group who survived the conflict as a way to commemorate those who gave their lives in the name of Kalimdor, and in service to uphold the balance of nature. Since then, it’s been adapted by other cadres, who have used it as means to strengthen bonds and stay in practice during peacetime. It’s largely been forgotten in recent memory, because of the constant threat of war looming over the kaldorei.
What does it involve?
Historically, members from different cadres were invited to Hyjal for a predetermined number of days to revel in camaraderie, friendly competitions, hunting and storytelling. It is encouraged to engage in joint crafting projects, such as fashioning quivers, ceremonial attires and insignias. Each product is emblazoned with the heraldry representing the cadres involved in their making. These serve a more symbolic purpose, as opposed to a practical one, and are often put on display in sentinel lodges throughout night elf territories. Excess supplies and meat are preserved and brought back to the communities that the sentinels are sworn to defend.
With the original bearers of this tradition either dead, or otherwise unable to carry it onwards, Aria’falore has largely fallen out of practice. Until now…
IC:
Across night elf territories, a number of letters have cropped up in various sentinel lodges, hunter halls, and even outposts still maintained beyond their homes…
Sisters and brothers!
After years of strife and endless conflict, we find ourselves amidst a period of reprieve. Just as we maintained our edge throughout the Long Vigil, we must similarily avoid falling into a state of complacency now.
To that end, you are hereby invited to our Stronghold in Feralas, where the Taloncrest cadre has volunteered to host a series of martial competitions, followed by a venture into the wilderness for a few nights of hunting, camaraderie, and a moment to honour the sacrifices of the recent wars.
We convene at the heart of Feathermoon on the tenth of the fifth moon cycle, and start the procession the following day, after the first bouts of contests.
Night’s Nourishment!
Word of the gathering in Feathermoon Stronghold spills beyond the confines of the sentinel barracks, and missives make it to certain public noticeboards; extending the invitation for tradesmen to showcase their crafts during the first day of competitions.
OOC:
A social event, meant to invoke a relaxed atmosphere, while simultaneously accommodating the militant aspect of night elf society. Hopefully able to provide an opportunity for those looking to dip into sentinel roleplay in a more casual setting.
What to expect?
Keeping with the spirits of events such as the Astranaar village hours, with a few twists and alterations, expect activities that highlights the main themed around specifically sentinels:
Nightsaber racing, archery contest, as well as a tournament of hand-to-hand combat, drawing heavy inspiration from pankration.
( AANode: 241873 )
Outside of that, roleplay driven by the circumstances surrounding the spirit of the traditions background; hunts, storytelling and much more.
Dates:
The event is scheduled to take place during the weekend of 10th of May to 12th of May.
Welcome!
This Event is mainly directed towards those of the Sentinel Army but others who wish to observe or even partake in activites are also welcome. However, users of Arcane, Fel or even Undeath would be exluded from most activities.
