[A-RP] <Stormwind Covert Accord> Rebooting and Recruiting

Vigilance, devotion, bravery and discipline. These are the four virtues of the
Covert Accord. Each one of us has been chosen to become something more. There is no greater purpose than to protect our lands, the people and most importantly the king. We wield the instrument which protects the Grand-Alliance whilst striking from the shadows. As an operative of the Covert Accord you pledge allegiance to live and die honourably, but the knowledge of your existence will be denied. In our line of work doing what is right, and doing what is necessary are more often than not completely different things. We do, what we do for the Grand-Alliance.

– Director J.A. LysandrĂ©

Originally formed in 2011 during the Cataclysm expansion under the name of The Accord which functioned as an underground intelligence guild based on the real-life SOE (Special Operations Executive). Over the years the guild was reformed into what it today, and with a name change to the Stormwind Covert Accord (better known as the SI:7 Covert Accord, the 17th Company) which is based on the real-life CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) and serves under the Kingdom of Stormwind. Reformed in 2019 as under the same name after a collapse of the guild in 2018.

The guild consist of a small and effective unit made up of elite operatives working alongside other military and intelligence based roleplay guilds and serves as a para-military, intelligence and reconnaissance unit. The roleplay style is based around subterfuge, ambushing, investigation, researching and covert missions. Drawing from the shadows and high grounds, and attacking their targets when they least expect it.

We are organizers and contributors of both small and large events. Internally for the guild only which includes training days and missions, and externally by joining guilds on operations and campaign events.

Our expectations from our members are for them to act as operatives.

Background History

After the bombing of Theramore, organized conspiracists whose posed a threat against the Alliance the Crown itself was exposed, the Stormwind Intelligence concluded that these organizations were to be dealt with without losing focus on their primary goal. A new unit was installed known as the Covert Accord with the prime function of acting impostors within the conspiracy organization and disguised themselves as pretentious SI:7 operatives working as double agents for the Crown.

These operatives are trained by the techniques of the 5th Regiment’s paratrooper training and the advanced subterfuge tactics of the old Ravenholdt ideals. Masters of luring, trapping exhausting and manipulation, functioning with the Alliance’s military forces, they support the troops from the shadows with strategies through their reconnaissance. Lead by Knight-Lieutenant and Director Juleen-Andrea LysandrĂ©, a member of the SI:7’s advisory. Yet after four years in office, the unit was uninstalled due to the High Command forcing the Director on retirement for her twenty years in service of the Alliance military.

Today the unit has been reinstalled due to the loss of operatives and the Stormwind Intelligence in need of experienced operatives with good merits. With consent from the Crown, the Director is now back in office and leads it not only as the unit’s prior function, to expose conspiracist, but functions as one of Stormwind Intelligence’s prime sabotage, infiltration, intel gathering and researching units.

Q&A (Questions and Answers)

“How do I join the guild?”
Fill out an Application Form which can be found under Useful Links under Basic Information further up, wait for a response from the officers through an in-game and in-character main, or walk up to our office in-character and fill it out there. When an in-character meeting has been completed and if you have been accepted, you will receive an in-character invite to the guild as an Ensign.

“How do promotions function?”
Promotions are based on your merit, skills and trust in-character, as well as out-of-character trust and activity. This is how to see how well your roleplay experience is, and to see how you as a person when not roleplaying.

“Do you have uniforms?”
Essentially no. We do demand the Ensigns to wear our guild tabard during our training days. Other than, we only use the Stormwind Lion tabard when attending official meetings at Stormwind Keep with an armour set fitting to the tabard.

If there are any further questions, contact any of the officers or the guild leader in-game, or post a question in the comments below.

Quite a few military inconsistencies here, but there are some seriously glaring ones.

First off, platoons are not autonomous and do not delineate individual units. Platoons are always smaller divisions of their respective companies, which is the smallest ‘natural’ unit size. Platoons are therefore numbered relative to their companies; meaning there would never be a 17th platoon - 17 platoons of (under usual platoon/troop circumstances) 30 men constitutes a company of 510 which is definitely battalion size and far too many personnel for a single company commander to handle (which is the point of companies in the first place).

Secondly, military intelligence does not function as part of standard unit structure. Intelligence as a military profession necessitates tact and subtlety in the gathering of information; deploying a platoon of 30 personnel to one location for reconnaissance is inviting disaster. It is for this very reason that most military intelligence units of the present day utilise ISTAR which includes the incorporation of almost all other branches of the military (infantry, aviation etc.) and dedicated intelligence specialists work with drones in very small numbers to minimise detection. This also equates in a specific example to special forces who primarily fulfill duties requiring a low profile; the British Special Air and Boat Services for example always function in patrols of four commanded by a Captain as opposed to platoons of 30 commanded by a Lieutenant.

As another issue, an Ensign is definitely not a recruit role. Before the rank was made obsolete in the 18th Century and replaced with Sub/Second Lieutenant, an Ensign was a very specific and traditional role in the period’s infantry constituting the most junior of officers usually entrusted with the bearing and safekeeping of a company’s colours. To this day, the Ensign of the Guard at St. James’ Palace in London sleeps with the regimental colour of the Grenadier Guards every night to keep it safe.

Can’t say if the Ensigns of Kul Tiras have their regional colours tucked away somewhere, but the rank appears to be alive and well in parts of Azeroth.

Didn’t Lysandre suddenly become a baradin warden and even join/create a guild around it because your last iteration of SCA fell to pieces? Which was already questionable enough as it was. Now she’s back as a director of SI:7? Imagine leaving your job in the secret services, becoming a prison warden for 6 weeks then immediately going back to your secret service job.

lol

Also:

You realise SI:7 is a rogue only organisation, right? There is not a single NPC displayed in game affiliated with SI:7 that is not a rogue. No warriors, no hunters, no mages - just rogues. Even Amber Kearnen which I see everybody wail about being a hunter is, in fact, a rogue. Did you know rogues can use ranged weapons too? Crazy, right? Almost like someone who played “since cataclysm” like you claim would know.

Thank you for your opinion, we will look into minor changes. Your help has been appreciated!

Despite the fact SI:7 deploys Druids of the Claw and Void Elf Casters during the Battle of Lordaeron.

Yeah sure the main thing is Rogues, but I do think they would employ any asset useful to their cause.

Besides a rogue only guild would get  fast. Other than that though I agree, a 6 week jolly being a prison warden with no prisoners only to magically regain such a high rank is a bit

Addendum:

Why is the headquarters in Tiragarde Sound (Boralus I assume?) of all places and a “Recruiting office” being in Stormwind (which I assume means taking over SI:7 again).

Regarding the situation of that, we were fully aware of people questioning that, the concept started off quite interesting, but granted how so few knew about Tol Barad, and how much it was out of the way, it was more than likely to crumble, or not even start up that well, in the end both Lys and I came to a full and open agreement that bringing back the SWCA which was our actual initial plan would be more ideal. Thus we have heavily prepared IC story and reasoning connected to current IC events which pose as a valid or somewhat valid reason for a return.

Oh and the recruitment office of Tiragarde, as of now is not a permanent set up
what we have been trying to do a little bit, is initiate a means of creating a secondary hub within Boralus, an attempt of sorts to try and bring more people to RP in Boralus, given how largely open it is and vastly beautiful. More open buildings etc, and a personal opinion that we feel it opens up more for what is found in Stormwind.

Didn’t y’all ragequit when Yarwood formed his own little guild and Lysandre claimed he’s stealing her idea?

It has nothing to do with Yarwood, we never had anything against him.

The guild was disbanded due to some internal miscommunication which got external and killed the guild. But with everything sorted, we have chosen to reboot the guild.

Lol, don’t pretend like you didn’t know, posting on a alt when you’re in Yarwoods guild. I mean you’re clearly not a very good espionage guild, considering you hide away on alts smearing your rivals with passive aggressive comments, but unironically really badly.

That’s a yikes from me dawg. Naughty alties zoinked again.

sick bonus points for how he’s just keeping it like that and pretending he didn’t get bazinga’d.

I just went and checked this: nope.

Absolutely no void elf casters or druids tagged with SI:7. You’re going to have to provide some proof here because I went and found nothing.

And is this serious? It’s like saying “well the Order of the Black Harvest is boring cuz it’s only warlocks!” well if it’s boring because it’s only warlocks (or in this case, rogues), don’t make a guild around it? I highly suspect you would raise your eyebrows at a warlock coven with a paladin in it, which is the same thing as an SI:7 guild that allows priests.

REBOOTING

Again? For the 5th time for the past
5 months?

Your inconsistency and theft of content other people create is the reason why you are and will remain to be a bad GM, unless you change your attitude to literally everything. But hey, you do you

2nd reboot. The first was due to a break in MoP and the second is this. Where do you get the last 3 times from?

Ahhh, thats hot

For the sake of a sarcasm, I pulled the number out of the thin air, but I decided to give a clear count.

Idc about MoP, cause I don’t know of it, but you started openly in March (https://eu.battle.net/forums/en/wow/topic/17618113776#post-1), then dropped it few weeks later; after it was June (https://eu.battle.net/forums/en/wow/topic/17619992340?page=1) with your popular meltdown and dropping down; then it was August (https://eu.battle.net/forums/en/wow/topic/17622502090#post-1) - dropped it again, and then it was October (https://eu.battle.net/forums/en/wow/topic/17622502090#post-2), and now this topic, making it a fantastic five, albeit not within 5 months - make it 10.

And I am not counting your Baradin guild ([A-RP] <Baradin Warden> Recruitment) that was dead pretty quickly as well. So yes, what makes this time special?

It is not reboots, it was new forum posts as the old forum locked our posts from editing after a specific time. But hey, its nice to have fans!
Or stalkers.

Good to know that all google-users are stalkers now

Again, you do you, Lysandre, but knowing that you will drop guild concept within a few weeks for various reasons (could be as well due to IRL, no one judges for that) - you should also not forget to mention that every time you plan to “edit your posts” or “reboot”.

i guess we’re stalkers for remembering things and adding 1+1 to get 2, huh? what a world we live in today
