[A-RP] <The Arclight Association> - Heroes of Gnomanity!

Tuning in to Radio Khaz Modan on your crackly radio box, you find yourself listening to an advertisement break. Various products and services are sold to you as you roll your eyes in boredom; Steamsmith’s Yak Shack, Troutworth’s Marvellous Nut-Free Peanuts, Ragnar-O’s and an advert consisting solely of a dwarf yelling incoherently at the microphone all rolled past, until finally something caught your eyes… or, well, ears. With a patriotic jingle in the background, a dapper sounding gnome spoke to the listeners:

The A.R.C.L.I.G.H.T. (Applied Research and Construction in Line with the Interests of Gnomish Home Territories) Association is a guild for gnomes, their Mechagonian brethren and other scientifically minded allies, with a non-military focus. Embracing the whimsical side of Warcraft’s heroic fantasy, our intrepid adventurers travel the world(s) in search of the universe’s many weird and wonderful secrets. Our expeditions and adventures are carried out in the name of Gnomeregan and the greater Alliance, and in an effort to strengthen diplomatic ties with our new allies on Mechagon. As a guild, we strive to embody these three core values:

ADVENTURE!

Experiencing the world through the lens of adventure which can often be a side attraction, we embrace it. Launching expeditions to far flung corners of Azeroth and beyond helping those in need and gaining prizes of loot, experiences and stories to write down in a novel sometime and sell them in every second-hand bookstore throughout the Alliance.

SCIENCE!

Arclight are mostly a bunch of engineers, tinkers, magical types and scientists. So we aim to approach such ideas in RP in interesting and immersive ways to give a little weight behind the theme beyond just a title you throw into your RP addon on a whim. With special events around guild projects in construction of perhaps a shiny new companion or mount or building to use later in RP. Some ritual or enchanting idea that can develop your character’s strength even further and ensure you can feel progression as you RP.

COMMUNITY!

Since early Legion, we have been going as a guild thanks to our community. Aiming to ensure we have a pleasant and inclusive experience for all those who wish not only to RP with us but on a more OOC level. We wish to get involved with wider server initiatives and really represent what we can out on the stage. Not only that but by also offering a open and welcoming place for people to relax and enjoy the game for its own sake.

AND MORE!

Beyond this, we try to create an environment where stories can be driven and influenced by everyone, and in which character development can come first. Guild events are offered on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays every week, which can vary from exploring some far away land, solving local problems or just working on a new project.

While the Arclight storage facility contains several spare sets of equipment (for those wanting to use the heritage armour IC), there is no enforced uniform. Wear whatever you like, be as flashy or spiky as you like - a Gnomeregan tabard or cape is advised, however.

RANKS:

Superintendent - Superintendent Brassfizzle acts as the official leader of the overall Association, serving as a diplomatic representative and contact with the Alliance as a whole.

Senior Tinkologist - These tinkologists have shown themselves to be the best of the best, possessing not only scientific ability but also the intuitive charisma of a leader.

Overseer - Duties such as inventory management, field leadership and organisation are held by Arclight’s Overseers, less scientifically minded gnomes who nonetheless possess skills in the role of management.

Tinkologist - Members of Arclight who have demonstrated excellence in the pursuit of knowledge or development of new creations may be given the chance to take on the mantle of Tinkologist. As a title of respect among the people of Gnomeregan, a grand ceremony is held for the ascension of new Tinkologists.

Auxiliary - Cooks, expedition guards and other such artisans might not be tinkologist material, but they are invaluable to keeping the Association running like clockwork. Auxiliary members are considered no less important, and have as much say in the day-to-day runnings of the Association as much as anyone else.

Adventurer - Seasoned members of Arclight who have made it through an expedition without getting mauled by bears or eaten by raptors, the Adventurers are reliable gnomes of all kind.

Recruit - The hapless interns applying to Arclight in search of fame and fortune bring new blood and new ideas to the Association. With great aspirations and (mostly) great potential, this is where everyone begins.

OOC - Rank for alts or characters not yet inducted into the guild. Anyone who is an IC member of Arclight and RPs with us regularly is permitted to have as many OOC alts as they like.

Officer Alt - Self-explanatory, an OOC rank for officer characters.

GUILD RULES:

  1. As the guild provides an outlet for long-term projects and character progression, try not to create a solution for everything off-screen. While the game offers a lot of cool mounts, toys and weapons, it’s far more satisfying to work on acquiring them for your character through active RP.

  1. Keep IC and OOC separate. While your character may suffer IC consequences, we like to keep a chill atmosphere OOC where everyone can be friendly despite characters’ rivalries.

  1. Any ERP or deliberate disruption of other people’s RP will result in a kick.

  1. As we strive for an inclusive community, any discriminiation based on race, gender, religion or LGBTQ+ status will not be tolerated and will result in removal from the guild.

  1. OOC members who haven’t logged on for more than a month without notice will be kicked from the guild.

Thanks for reading, and I hope to see you around!

For Gnomeregan!

Arclight have responded to a call for aid from an old ally, one of the few nobles looking out for the forgotten peoples of Westfall. The worgen curse from Duskwood has made its way to Moonbrook and a race against time has commenced to help the people before the curse takes hold.

But what of the worgen still out there, every bite, every scratch, a drop of blood and one more could join their ranks.

Awesome guild with a very friendly and active community.
I took part in some of their events in the past and I was hooked, you don’t get bored with these guys. They also got a wide variety of cool and unique gnome character concepts and they don’t isolate themselves in bubble RP, if you see them around in the world and ask them to join their group for an event they’ll welcome you with open arms.

The gnomes’ attempt at developing an antidote for the curse were ineffective, failing catastrophically as the first and only test subject died a rather grim and gruesome death.

Nonetheless, they remained determined to find a way to save Moonbrook, heading to Raven Hill in search of something druidic that might be able to help the citizens where they can’t. Facing a series of trials in which they had to confront their own inner demons, Arclight eventually succeeded and was allowed to take a vial of moonwell water to help calm the minds of those beyond saving.

Al that’s left is to find the culprit behind the poisoning of the well, and to bring them to justice!

After being pushed into the Deadmines due to the encroaching worgen threat, Arclight put up the best fight they could. Seeing the imminent invasion at hand, our quick-witted engineers rewired and repaired the translocator within the mines in order to evacuate the Moonbrook citizens.

The gnomes managed to escape with all the refugees they could carry, but at what cost? Will the Westfall militia deal with the threat, or will it resurface later with a vengeance?

In other news, we’ve got a collaboration with the Bilgewater Battalion coming up from the 20th to the 24th, and past that our greatest minds are planning a glorious (and totally legal) heist. Stay tuned for more!

“You mooks, heists are OUR deal!”

Arclight has a great community of players and I’ve been following this lot for a long time now yet I’ve woefully failed to join them for longer than a week yet because I can’t decide on a Gnome concept.

Looking forward to our upcoming crossover events! Let the endless cycle of Gnomes and Goblins bickering and sabotaging each other begin anew!

Just wanted to thank the glorious Arclight Association for an invite into their wonderful community and for a friendly introduction. Looking forward to many hours of tinkering and exploration!

The Association has begun it’s journey to hunt the remaining Mechagon loyalists, some of whom have fled to Stormheim. The glorious Arclight Association has been joined by a little known group of greasemonkeys and cannon fodder called the Bilgewater Battalion, who will assist in tracking down these rogue elements and their nefarious schemes.

Already, the ship they are on has been plagued by “accidental” events, such as big red buttons being pushed, demanding why there’s no warp-drive, self-destruct buttons being pushed… This is going to be a “fun” expedition.

every Gnome or Goblin not willing to push big red buttons isn´t really one

Patriotic music is an instant red flag for me… but I might be willing to cooperate on a freelance basis.

Arclight returns tending to its wounds from our joint venture to Stormheim with the Bilgewater Batallion guild in the hunt for Mechagon loyalists. Tears were shed, brave lives were lost, betrayal at every turn and the Goblins continue to be ugly creatures.

The Bilgewater Batallion may have won this battle but their overall success rate was measured at a measly 4%.

It would appear in my foolishness, I bumped the wrong thread.

Arclight set off to Azshara in an attempt to reclaim the titan orb from Stormheim out of the goblins’ grubby hands, only to come face to face with the same Bilgewater Battalion they begrudgingly worked with before!

Halfway through their assault, news reached that the war had been brought to an abrupt end. Forced to reconcile everything, Arclight and the Battalion were quickly forced once again into co-operation as Mechagon offered them yet another challenge!

Will they live up to the mechagnomes’ expectations in the wake of this newly forged peace, or will they end up killing each other, themselves, or some random passers-by? Find out next time on Arclight!
