Thats another problem lol, we have had the Seeds of Kalimdor Discord for years now, and most people use the ingame channel KalimdorRP.
You cant revive a failing bookshop by opening another book shop 10 miles away and telling the customers to come check you out but only if they have the newsletter coz thats where the damned store location is.
No one is obligated to join some community or not make one because thereâs another one. I donât really have a problem with that. But if the goal is to ârevive night elf RPâ and promote RP in general, I think it is valid for people to criticise previous implementation / suggest improvements. This is especially the case, again, because the night elf community isnât exactly healthy since BfA (splitting of hubs, IC destruction, people quitting, etc.)
I get that you guys obviously want us to use forums, I personally find them incredibly user unfriendly and other places like Discord, AA and others work better for me. I think, if you guys would like to aid our community and get involved, a middle ground could be some of you getting involved in our community, joining the discord, so that you guys can be the people who post in forums? Just a suggestion, since this just seems to be a difference of opinion in communication channels, rather than anything else, if we do all want better for the Kaldorei community, rather than trying to tear down others.
Youâve hit the nail on the head. Your opinion/everybody elseâs is opposed to ours.
This has very much strayed away from being constructive at this point. I believe itâd be better to call it a day and move on.
The reality is that It has been stated perhaps several times at this point that we simply do not want to use the forums to the same extent as your lot do.
I have seen a handful of people already interact with us, so youâll have to forgive me if I am failing to understand your gripes. Weâve also already stated that what actually requires publicly announcing will be announced publicly.
I do have a very critical question to pose, as well. You understand that we are in the Seeds of Kalimdor too, donât you? You went a very round about way to discuss this with us.
Generally speaking, if I felt that Seeds of Kalimdor contained initiatives/events/what-have-you that werenât advertised elsewhere, there would be the exact same problem that (seems to) exist with the Covenant of Teldrassil.
It isnât about which Discord group is older, or has more people, but the fact that a server, by its nature, isnât as accessible for information as the forums.
As someone who isnât any public Discords, both would be exclusionary to me.
But it doesnât have to be either/or. The best approach - as illustrated by other posts already - would be to do both. Advertise in Discord groups, on the forums, and on AA because thatâs another accessible spot.
I really donât see whatâs so bad about using the forums though. Itâs a great form of advertisement and whatâs more, it notifies people: âHey, weâre here! Come say hi!â
Or, it just allows them to get a better grasp of whatâs going on.
If these people do not wish to join the Discord for one reason or another itâs a bit strange to tell them to join it and advertise events by them on the forums. Or am I reading this wrong?
I think itâd be far more healthier to use all assets available for you, if your intentions is to bring together the Kaldorei community. That means through discord, AA, the forums and which ever other area roleplayers of Argent Dawn may come looking too, to find out where roleplay is happening.
In responce to just joining the discord server, well Iâm opposed to that as of right now as I end up having a clutter of servers and being unable to follow any of them personally. I find the forums and AA far more easier to follow goings on, forums more so.
I donât feel like anyone is tearing each other down here, but rather trying to uplift the idea you had in mind and keep it in play furthering the level of functionality and growth. I wouldnât brush these off the shoulder as an attack on how you feel it should be ran (that was at least my interpretation!).
Itâs great what youâre trying to bring to table, nothing will happen though if just a little effort isnât put into it even in the areas youâre not all too fond of.
I donât see how the thread of the Covenant is a round-about way to discuss this. I know for a fact that at least half the people (me included) discussing this right now arenât in that Discord / arenât anymore. I also donât see how it ended up unconstructive. There are several posts above that directly make constructive suggestions? At this point, one should probably wait for the OP (and leader?) to respond, though, I agree.
And equally if people do not wish to use the forums for one reason or another, itâs a bit strange to tell them to use the forums.
But again, weâre literally only saying weâre not wanting to use the forums as much as these guys do, which doesnât imply in the slightest that they will never be used.
Again, this was the incorrect place to pose this to us, as weâre in the same discord server.
Itâs just as strange to tell us to use the forums more when weâve already stated we prefer other forms of communication? I think asking people who want to be more involved in our RP to, involve themselves, help shape our community more as it grows in the way theyâd like it to be, in the spirit of inclusivity and cooperation, is the mature thing to do.
This was said though, by the person who actually owns the discord.
This too.
So I think that if the actual leader of the whole thing wants to do it, itâs not the call of other people of the community for what the leader actually wants to do. Especially since Andoril seems to be quite capable of receiving feedback and turning it into something useful.
Since said leader hasnât actually posted anything that includes a contrary statement to this, I think that it may change and it could get better. For all I care I donât necessarily mind volunteering watching this community closely and posting here and there to let people know whatâs up.
Weâve already stated above that weâll inform the forum posts of relevant content whenever necessary, but our main channel of communication is Discord.
Thatâs the answer, continuing this debate seems pointless.
Itâs essentially what weâre bringing to the table of suggestions though, but itâs clear thereâs a dislike of the use of forums and ultimately it is down to you guys as the creators of this project what happens and how things progress. I just think itâll be a massive loss pulling away from an area that has a lot traction too, the forums. You said it yourself, in the spirit of inclusiveness and cooperation, players use a lot more formats than just discord.
