[A-RP] The Covenant of Teldrassil (Kaldorei/Worgen focused sorts)

Thats another problem lol, we have had the Seeds of Kalimdor Discord for years now, and most people use the ingame channel KalimdorRP.

You cant revive a failing bookshop by opening another book shop 10 miles away and telling the customers to come check you out but only if they have the newsletter coz thats where the damned store location is.

I like metaphors

No one is obligated to join some community or not make one because there’s another one. I don’t really have a problem with that. But if the goal is to “revive night elf RP” and promote RP in general, I think it is valid for people to criticise previous implementation / suggest improvements. This is especially the case, again, because the night elf community isn’t exactly healthy since BfA (splitting of hubs, IC destruction, people quitting, etc.)

I get that you guys obviously want us to use forums, I personally find them incredibly user unfriendly and other places like Discord, AA and others work better for me. I think, if you guys would like to aid our community and get involved, a middle ground could be some of you getting involved in our community, joining the discord, so that you guys can be the people who post in forums? Just a suggestion, since this just seems to be a difference of opinion in communication channels, rather than anything else, if we do all want better for the Kaldorei community, rather than trying to tear down others.

You’ve hit the nail on the head. Your opinion/everybody else’s is opposed to ours.

This has very much strayed away from being constructive at this point. I believe it’d be better to call it a day and move on.

The reality is that It has been stated perhaps several times at this point that we simply do not want to use the forums to the same extent as your lot do.

I have seen a handful of people already interact with us, so you’ll have to forgive me if I am failing to understand your gripes. We’ve also already stated that what actually requires publicly announcing will be announced publicly.

I do have a very critical question to pose, as well. You understand that we are in the Seeds of Kalimdor too, don’t you? You went a very round about way to discuss this with us.

Generally speaking, if I felt that Seeds of Kalimdor contained initiatives/events/what-have-you that weren’t advertised elsewhere, there would be the exact same problem that (seems to) exist with the Covenant of Teldrassil.

It isn’t about which Discord group is older, or has more people, but the fact that a server, by its nature, isn’t as accessible for information as the forums.

As someone who isn’t any public Discords, both would be exclusionary to me.

But it doesn’t have to be either/or. The best approach - as illustrated by other posts already - would be to do both. Advertise in Discord groups, on the forums, and on AA because that’s another accessible spot.

I really don’t see what’s so bad about using the forums though. It’s a great form of advertisement and what’s more, it notifies people: “Hey, we’re here! Come say hi!”
Or, it just allows them to get a better grasp of what’s going on.

I don’t think you guys realise how non-inclusive you sound right now.

If these people do not wish to join the Discord for one reason or another it’s a bit strange to tell them to join it and advertise events by them on the forums. Or am I reading this wrong?

I think it’d be far more healthier to use all assets available for you, if your intentions is to bring together the Kaldorei community. That means through discord, AA, the forums and which ever other area roleplayers of Argent Dawn may come looking too, to find out where roleplay is happening.

In responce to just joining the discord server, well I’m opposed to that as of right now as I end up having a clutter of servers and being unable to follow any of them personally. I find the forums and AA far more easier to follow goings on, forums more so.

I don’t feel like anyone is tearing each other down here, but rather trying to uplift the idea you had in mind and keep it in play furthering the level of functionality and growth. I wouldn’t brush these off the shoulder as an attack on how you feel it should be ran (that was at least my interpretation!).

It’s great what you’re trying to bring to table, nothing will happen though if just a little effort isn’t put into it even in the areas you’re not all too fond of.

I don’t see how the thread of the Covenant is a round-about way to discuss this. I know for a fact that at least half the people (me included) discussing this right now aren’t in that Discord / aren’t anymore. I also don’t see how it ended up unconstructive. There are several posts above that directly make constructive suggestions? At this point, one should probably wait for the OP (and leader?) to respond, though, I agree.

And equally if people do not wish to use the forums for one reason or another, it’s a bit strange to tell them to use the forums.

But again, we’re literally only saying we’re not wanting to use the forums as much as these guys do, which doesn’t imply in the slightest that they will never be used.

Again, this was the incorrect place to pose this to us, as we’re in the same discord server.

You say in a thread about CoT on the forums. It’s already been made, posting quick updates every now and then is hardly an issue I think?

Open discourse = good.

And a number of the people posting aren’t in Seeds of Kalimdor. This is the most accessible place for any discussion to take place.

I believe using both the forums and the discord you mention is what is requested here. You don’t need to abandon the latter, of course.

It’s just as strange to tell us to use the forums more when we’ve already stated we prefer other forms of communication? I think asking people who want to be more involved in our RP to, involve themselves, help shape our community more as it grows in the way they’d like it to be, in the spirit of inclusivity and cooperation, is the mature thing to do.

This was said though, by the person who actually owns the discord.

This too.

So I think that if the actual leader of the whole thing wants to do it, it’s not the call of other people of the community for what the leader actually wants to do. Especially since Andoril seems to be quite capable of receiving feedback and turning it into something useful.

Since said leader hasn’t actually posted anything that includes a contrary statement to this, I think that it may change and it could get better. For all I care I don’t necessarily mind volunteering watching this community closely and posting here and there to let people know what’s up. :woman_shrugging:

We’ve already stated above that we’ll inform the forum posts of relevant content whenever necessary, but our main channel of communication is Discord.

That’s the answer, continuing this debate seems pointless.

The question was posed by the Seeds of Kalimdor.

99% of the replies are Seeds of Kalimdor, or alts of.

I’m seeing a pattern, enough to say that messaging Andoril on discord was the better course of action.

It’s essentially what we’re bringing to the table of suggestions though, but it’s clear there’s a dislike of the use of forums and ultimately it is down to you guys as the creators of this project what happens and how things progress. I just think it’ll be a massive loss pulling away from an area that has a lot traction too, the forums. You said it yourself, in the spirit of inclusiveness and cooperation, players use a lot more formats than just discord.
