They actually whispered players beforehand if they are OK with being arrested/fined/beaten up or if they’d prefer to be left alone. The crazier antics occurred when the Drakkari and K’thir socialites signaled they are fine with the interaction and then pulled a 180 because the grunts weren’t that keen on 1v10 emote battles.
And TBH this is true. If the Argent Dawn AAA Roleplaying Development Team wanted to clarify anything with talking heads, fencesitters and unsubbed forumites they would have made a thread themselves.
Oh yeah I do know this and did mention it in my edit. I also stated that HoC did give more than it took and I do actually tend to miss their presence atleast when they stood outside the barracks they would talk to people
It’s completely reasonable for people to ask questions. Transparency is key, and it’s something I believe in strongly. Communication is a powerful tool. At least, that’s the wisdom the Farseers have imparted to me. Here’s to all of us enjoying what we love doing.
This back and fourth is exhausting. Everyone with some form of reputation on this server likely has something someone has said or claimed over the years. This game is nearly 20 years old, some of AD’s figureheads go back to Cata or before.
And I am sure a lot of people who are seeing this are grateful to see it. I for one am.
It aids in building better relations with others and although it means little I fully endorse this and would like to see how your new community goes and wish you nothing but the best of luck.
So we can sit in the same sandpit throwing muck at each other until the end of time, or we can stand up and walk out and go do something else for a change.
Personally if by cliquey they will write things like: “I don’t like that Zaphius, have you seen his new hairs? They just don’t grow so quickly so naturally”
I would be quite mad because it is obviously false but also it would be totally average for AD standards so hardly a big deal.
I’m enjoying it, it has some issues with animations being a bit locked in at times, and you die within seconds in pvp but it’s a fun game. There’s a decent amount of customisation, and you earn the currency easy enough to unlock things, I’ve made the closest approximation I can to an angry marine so far.
It does auto install Epic Online Services, but I have no idea what for, you can uninstall it and play online without any issues, it just pops up an error message when you start the game.
I’d like to take the latter if possible. We’ve all grown from our issues but I think we can come to a common denominator and that is although people can and will ask for information they have no right to demand it nor is it warranted a reply.
How are you finding it? I’ve fully enjoyed it so far although I think it’s a game best played with friends it can be pretty repetitive if solo.
See above, but yes I’d agree the pve operations are probably better with friends, I found them a bit tedious tbh, I only play the pvp mode really.
There’s a big disparity between the exp given for each pvp mode, so if you’re looking to grind levels (and potentially wins to unlock armour pieces) play the capture and control mode.
If I had 50-100 or something like that people roleplaying across multiple guilds and we’re all kind of looking for the same themes and fights, I’d also try and get a community going where those efforts can be concentrated.
Idk I feel like A3 is a natural and healthy development no matter which side on the fence you’re eating your nothingburger, and having experienced first hand Gruggosh’s willingness to involve “outsiders”(are they really?) when I ran Imperial Flame last year, I’d say nobody’s gotta worry about this one closing its doors and windows left and right.
Let’s go back to fighting lilynore as a united server instead or something. You know, the REAL blight coming back for round 2(3?)
Arguing the importance of autonomy within roleplay guilds, is completely valid—no group is obligated to share its internal workings, nor should it. I completely agree.
Though, this shouldn’t overlook the fact that the roleplaying community is an ecosystem, an otherwise persistent world, where every group’s actions influence the broader environment in a big or small way. It’s always been the case (even when folks were much younger), and will continue to be so.
While guilds like the PCU or A³ aren’t democratically elected, they are part of this shared space and broader scope socially that thrives on interaction, cooperation, and immersion (whether they like it or not). If a guild or community becomes insular or perceived as hostile to feedback, the risk is — divisions that ripple through the server. And it’s not just a one way street, players get caught up in this who are completely not involved. Just scrolling up, there’s an apparent 12 guilds part of this coalition - that’s a lot.
When most players ask questions or voice concerns, they aren’t demanding oversight; they’re wanting to contribute to the health of the Argent Dawn landscape (for right or wrong). Abit of constructive dialogue isn’t a bad thing—whether about lore, behavior, or roleplay standards—benefits everyone by promoting a sentiment understanding I guess. It’s not about feeling “high and mighty” or engaging in trauma dumping, but about creating a culture of accountability and transparency that benefits the roleplay scene as a whole.
When dismissing these discussions as irrelevant or asinine, you’re overlooking the value of constructive debate and how it helps prevent insular groups from becoming echo chambers, or otherwise isolated. The PCU may be gone, but perhaps now is opportunity for the best aspects of it to be taken from it, and the worst to be avoided.
Healthy communities listen, evolve, and adapt through this. If guilds choose to shut themselves off from that, they risk alienating the very players that could help it grow and improve. Ignoring or rejecting dialogue doesn’t create stronger communities—it creates the opposite. In the end, engaging with feedback and maintaining openness can turn friction into abit of progress, making Argent Dawn a more cohesive and enjoyable place for everyone.
It’s also important to differentiate between concern and malicious attacks, I think it’s safe to say that players trying to rattle the cage for personal reasons or biases are counterproductive. The more AD begins to realise this, the better.
And yes, I’m replying to this comment because I think you raise valid points (which at some point or the other I might’ve agreed with).
The intent may be noble, sure, but the method so far has been overbearing.
My point is that this discussion cannot be one that is forced upon people, you say the purpose is not oversight but it certainly comes across that way.
PCU or not, demanding such a disclosure is over the top; for example there are numerous lore-bending guilds situated in Stormwind which have as much if not more impact on overall community health, and none of them have been called to answer in the same manner.
The newly established Arathi guilds, the neutral guilds, the Dalaran/mage guilds, you are right in that everyone contributes and impacts to the wider landscape but none of these groups have been scrutinized to the same degree.
Each of the guilds in question have threads with OPs that state their concept and how they function, it is unfair and frankly unnecessary to probe further.
As I’ve said before, should any leaders in this community decide to open up to questioning, that is their perogative; but it must be their perogative, none else.
