A thread for discussing the A³ (All Across Azeroth) community and the PCU

This entire thread is like a press secretary scene from Designated Survivor

If you can’t understand why rando nobodies get less scrutiny than the most (in)famous RP initiatives on the entire server…
Damn bro.

I feel like the reasons are many and have been outlined clearly and even the A3 top brass know it and understand it, because they also see the value in getting past it. Again, you’re being really offended on behalf of people who you don’t belong to and don’t need you running defense, as they’re far more capable of reasonably dealing with this.

You’d have a similar reaction from 90% of roleplay guilds on the server. The only guild I know that accepted virtually any concept was Keti Caravan.

It was weird when he was there too.

I see a lot of people asking why we created A³ and, I’ll be honest, there’s a very simple explanation; it’s easier to plan roleplay with your friends when you’re in a community together. It’s as simple as that.
We wanted to leave the PCU behind because the people who created it no longer play WoW and we did not wanted to be associated with them but we didn’t want to stop roleplaying with the friends we’ve made throughout the years.

The reason that A³ exists now is pretty much for the same reason any community exists in WoW RP. It’s for the same reason the Amirdrassil discord server or the Gilneas discord server exist - so that we can easily communicate with one another. We can share our events and plan ones together. It exists because we have friends that we enjoy roleplaying with, we want to roleplay more with those friends and we hope to make more friends along the way. It really is that simple.

But they are ‘rando nobodies’, all the bogeymen you have a problem with are long gone.

If you or anyone else is unable to understand this, or separate the people who by all rights have been quiet in their own corner doing their own thing for the best part of a year then that is a you problem, and they are not obligated to solve that for you.

If you want to keep perpetuating the same rehashed arguments then it can only be assumed it is done in bad faith and is in fact concern trolling.

Then perhaps the server shouldn’t of started calling us that

I was around (though not part of) the PCU in its earlier days (the Rotgarde primarily). The leadership at the time was, well, pretty horrible - there was the whole taking the joke too far thing with all the ‘german political history’ side of things, and there was also quite a lot of homophobia. I experienced harassment from them myself. Some individuals were outright nasty people, but got away with everything due to their proximity to the officer group, leading to a bunch of gaslighting on the forums when these people were called out. It’s a part of why I started to lose interest in RP on this server.

But this was all a long time ago.

Very few of these people are around anymore (I’ve really only noticed one in the time I’ve been casually checking the forums the last while), and as far as I’m aware they were all either young adults or teenagers at the time - I’d like to think they’ve matured and moved on from this stuff by and large.

So no, I don’t think the PCU is worthy of any real scrutiny these days. There are some things I’m not a fan of outside of the stuff the leadership used to do (more a personal preference thing than a complaint), but nothing that makes me go “This group is run by a group of horrible individuals” like it used to be a long time ago. It’s become such a big group and been influenced by so many people that a) if there are bad apples, they’re likely to be a tiny, tiny percentage, and b) it’s changed massively.

This was also said every one or two years or so, ngl. The “ah, I have had problems with some of the people in that community but they are gone” isn’t anything new.

“The server” never called you like that. To most people out here on the forums, this is just how you started to introduce yourselves as.

I even called you for a far longer time the “Stygian legion”, because I thought the wider label was a bit weird, until I was called out by your community a few times, which kept telling me that indeed the Stygian Legion was only a part of the PCU.

Let’s not pretend people didn’t make these conscious choices. I understand sometimes hindsight is 20/20 and maybe you just didn’t think it was that important as a label, but it was absolutely a weird brand.

There were people absolutely back in the day using this term. I only joined the community in mid BFA, up until that point many people (Myself Included) used all sorts of stupid nicknames for the group. I distinctly remember seeing people call them the PCU long before the community even existed as it came to be known (I think around early Legion/Late WoD back when it was just Rotgarde/HoC).

Regardless this is a stupid back and fourth, the community no longer goes by this name for various reasons. And the people who actually made the choice to cement that particular nickname are long gone.

I’m not going to defend perroy/whoever else’s decision it was to do that. He can do that himself if he really wants to.

I don’t recall telling you that.

Generally being open and honest about what’s going down is a good step.
And may help people who want to see what’s what get involved or let them go elsewhere.

This was actually how it started, I remember that much. They just took the name that was used as an insult to refer to “Perroy’s group of guilds” and made it their own. Iirc they didn’t even have a collective name at the start?

It started as a pejorative for anyone associated with Perroy, he took the name and used it ironically as a f* you to detractors.

“Most people out here in the forums” being the people who barely ever interacted with the PCU in any capacity, and existed well after it was founded, thus not knowing the actual history.

Tbh a lot of people who vent and rage on the forums here I cannot recall having ever met in RP.

Well you see most of them like Speegwagone had to go into witness protection in fear of their lives, or something to that effect.

I imagine people have plenty of alts as well as characters they have retired.

You’re vile.

Coalburnt’s rabid crusade and quest to do PR for the PCU kind of feels like those guys who still maintain the website for Heaven’s Gate.

He’s really embodying all of the most annoying parts of the old PCU and thank goodness he’s no longer part of it so they can grow past such awful attitudes.

I don’t think its that deep I just think he doesn’t like you

I mean, it isn’t all that deep an analysis. It’s just plain to see that what triggers him is me calling out the one group that would ever have had him around. It’s the only time he ever engages with almost any posts and it’s always the same tired waa waa whinging he does.

You could say that this is a case of the pot calling the kettle black.
