A thread for discussing the A³ (All Across Azeroth) community and the PCU

Important thing just related but semi off-tangent: Several people from A³ set up an event close to the Earthen release where people would act out waking up, and other Earthen as old established figures to help guide them.

It was incredibly fun to watch the characters progress from confusion to awareness to excitement. It really felt like a good start to Earthen roleplay, and even got some people we didn’t know involved and roleplaying too.

It’s an excellent start to the expansion, and things look promising for roleplay going forward, bros.

The expansion may be gone but its consequences still remain.

At least that’s what I tell myself every time I go back to Korthia on my priest.

Apparently that was more true than we’d initially thought. Oh dear.

Yeah, but if my fellow player being a man says his boyfriend and husband is home, why treat him any different?

There he goes, editing his posts, rotating his alt accounts to flag others.

I’m very surprised you picked the one where I mentioned Brigante.

I’m daring to make a rare outward statement about the whole pro PCU, anti-PCU as someone that has been more of an on/off roleplayer in AD for years and never bothered to get involved. Only as it seems this A3 thing is bringing a lot of it back up.

Both sides of the arguement lose, at least in my view. Because guess what? All the stigmas of pro and anti PCU preached out made me want to avoid people who put “ignores PCU” in their TRPs as well as avoiding the PCU as their members engaged in the back and forth bickering too.

I bet I am not the only person who has held this view, of not wanting to be pulled into the drama, and feeling isolated because I felt for a long time joining any guild on Argent Dawn put you either anti, or pro PCU. Consider that people, myself included (until this post today) will align with this stance and there’s no real idea to how this stupid anti/pro stance on PCU, now possibly A3, impacts roleplayers who do not want to take sides nor interact with this stupidity.

It’s all too easy to allege things with he said, she said. I have no doubt PCU had bad actors; any guild or community has them.

When you immediately call out an entire community based on past actions from other people by association, it just makes you look bad.

You don’t make Argent Dawn a better place by shouting out to the masses or advertising in your TRP what guilds/groups you avoid, you make the scene seem toxic.

Not invaliding anyone who has had experiences with the PCU or any group, but painting every person that was in it, or even just RP’d alongside it, is ridiculous. Did it have bad leadership positions in some cases? From numerous testamonts, yes. Does that make everyone beneath that leadership vile or somehow irredeemable? Absolutely not.

Do you make random roleplayers fill in a survey before they can interact with you? No, you roleplay with their character and engage with the person behind the character. If you mutually enjoy it, great, you continue. If not, you move on.

The same courtesy should be given to this new project. If it goes well, awesome, great. If it turns out there’s a negative vibe, by all means approach to offer constructive feedback. If your feedback is ignored? Move on.

Let people RP and do their thing, they can decide what projects they want to join and what company they wish to keep.

There was absolutely no need for this thread, nor for the Ax3 rebrand. Considering a lot of posts here have made it adamantly clear they detest forum interactions… why bother having a thread? Often repeated is the “forums dont reach anyone+no one reads them” argument to which I say, yeah, you’re right.

If the guilds wanted to continue RPing with one another and more optimistically, with others outside of their group that’s great! But you can just scrub the three letters off and keep your branding internal to whatever discord group you’re coordinating from right?

If more people had this attitude we’d have a better server in general I reckon. This goes for both sides.

I dunno brother invoking the dead disrespectfully is kind of a taboo in a lot of places.

I don’t RP on Gabrindion whatsoever and would gladly switch to another character to post on without beating around the bush about who I am…

…if it wasn’t for my altoholism.

You wouldn’t (I hope) and shouldn’t.
But it isn’t a political statement or anything else. It’s just someone living their life.

With that said, some people still like to make weird comments if a man mentions his husband or a woman her wife.

Don’t downplay it, it’s more than you think and a lot of times people are not rightfully called out about it sadly.

that too. I lost interest in my main character ages ago and I haven’t found somebody else to settle on.

I am hoping that my dracthyr hunter will settle that for a bit because I like… actively look forward to RPing on him.

General Discussion posts tell me enough.
It’s incredibly sad.

I disagree that there was no need for a rebrand. The people in the community itself wanted this and that is why we did it. I believe that keeping our community happy and engaged is very important. We were content to keep that branding internal - note that we didn’t make a forum thread related to the rebrand - but equally we feel that being open and respectful when we’re asked questions is the right thing to do.
Otherwise, I agree. This thread didn’t need to exist. We didn’t intend to make one. We simply wanted to make changes for ourselves.

We decided to keep this internal for a reason. The name itself isn’t important; it was changed because using a name linked to someone who isn’t involved didn’t make sense. If you have more questions, the best approach is to ask in-game. :+1:

A lot of this reflects my personal feelings towards the situation.

I’ll confess that I took part in some of the public events and campaigns hosted by the PCU, though I stopped when I put my principles before easily accessed high quality RP. I just didn’t like how certain figures in the community carried themselves, nor did I like how some of these figures seemed to attach their egos to the size of their community.

However, a lot of the anti-PCU behaviour can best be described as utterly unhinged, particularly COAD and Lilynore, and even the “I ignore PCU” disclaimers put me off of the players who wore them. I always found such an exclusive attitude towards RP unappealing and felt apprehensive about interacting with players who used their TRP profiles as an opportunity to shame or shun other players.

So like you, I tend to end up feeling a little isolated and struggling to find a home somewhere between those two factions. With the effective death of the PCU and the apparent change in attitude displayed by A³, things might become a little easier in that regard.

Perhaps not, but I wanted to take the heat off of the Dirge of Teldrassil thread and to create another location for a conversation that was already occurring.

The leaders of A³ have had every opportunity to ask me to delete the thread, if they consider it unnecessary and want it gone. They still can ask me to delete it and I’ll happily oblige, but aside from the spat between Coalburnt and Speedwagone and Notcoad being a demented pillock, I’d say that this thread has mostly been informative and helped portray A³ in a positive light, rather than a negative one.

Certainly, the attitude that they’ve shown so far makes me feel much better about them than I did about the PCU during BFA.

I believe the discussion here has been valuable and has addressed the questions people had. In my view, there’s no need to delete the thread at this point.

Understandable considering what has come.

A fair deal is a weirdo with a voice changer being burnt for erp pimping in goldshire. Not all of it is invalid though.
Guys posting neo-n*zi coded memes, even in ‘edgy banter’ is a bit weird only to then promote alt-right conspiracy theories around vaccination and the German military during WW2. Another, guild leader no less, threatening to SA guild members and then another who was found to be actually grooming people.

Yes, bad apples and all that but they still flew under the radar for far longer, then not to mention things like mandatory guild log-ins and tallying members for events and some guys reported being “stalked” by officers (not so sure on that one jim) all come across as highly warped and borderline toxic.

That said

Is welcoming to see. A friendlier ‘PCU’ that wants to co-operate with other guilds and not be a hive for manchildren who’s humor and behaviour haven’t progressed past the age of 15 and the year 2010 can only be a positive thing.
