I’m daring to make a rare outward statement about the whole pro PCU, anti-PCU as someone that has been more of an on/off roleplayer in AD for years and never bothered to get involved. Only as it seems this A3 thing is bringing a lot of it back up.
Both sides of the arguement lose, at least in my view. Because guess what? All the stigmas of pro and anti PCU preached out made me want to avoid people who put “ignores PCU” in their TRPs as well as avoiding the PCU as their members engaged in the back and forth bickering too.
I bet I am not the only person who has held this view, of not wanting to be pulled into the drama, and feeling isolated because I felt for a long time joining any guild on Argent Dawn put you either anti, or pro PCU. Consider that people, myself included (until this post today) will align with this stance and there’s no real idea to how this stupid anti/pro stance on PCU, now possibly A3, impacts roleplayers who do not want to take sides nor interact with this stupidity.
It’s all too easy to allege things with he said, she said. I have no doubt PCU had bad actors; any guild or community has them.
When you immediately call out an entire community based on past actions from other people by association, it just makes you look bad.
You don’t make Argent Dawn a better place by shouting out to the masses or advertising in your TRP what guilds/groups you avoid, you make the scene seem toxic.
Not invaliding anyone who has had experiences with the PCU or any group, but painting every person that was in it, or even just RP’d alongside it, is ridiculous. Did it have bad leadership positions in some cases? From numerous testamonts, yes. Does that make everyone beneath that leadership vile or somehow irredeemable? Absolutely not.
Do you make random roleplayers fill in a survey before they can interact with you? No, you roleplay with their character and engage with the person behind the character. If you mutually enjoy it, great, you continue. If not, you move on.
The same courtesy should be given to this new project. If it goes well, awesome, great. If it turns out there’s a negative vibe, by all means approach to offer constructive feedback. If your feedback is ignored? Move on.
Let people RP and do their thing, they can decide what projects they want to join and what company they wish to keep.
