About the state of the story

Lore is different from the story though.
Lore is all the background information about the world, the characters, the history, etc.

The story is actively being told; and once its done, it becomes part of the lore of the game. And it’s that ‘actively telling a story’ that imo has never been good in WoW.
I’m not saying it’s always been bad either, don’t get me wrong. But there’s a huge grey area between ‘bad’ and ‘good’.

Who is this ‘Majority’? Are they in the room with us?

Yeah, but I was meaning “Warcraft lore”, it was there before WoW was created. It is built onto that relic. So that was already lore IMO. I can agree with the rest mostly.

11.0 and 11.1 didn’t have a good story, and many people bought TWW due to Blizzard using Metzen to advertise the world soul saga. If he was or wasn’t involved in 11.0 and 11.1 does not matter much. What matters is that people bought the game and got disappointed. Everything else about “This and this was made by previous team, etc.” does not matter to the wide masses of players, and is just noise to them that they’ll probably ignore.

I think this idea that only gameplay matters is just plain wrong. What matters the most in the end is the excitement for the game, and an excitement is created by a narrative and a cool trailer with hype, etc. else a game just gets ignored, and then the gameplay has to be good on top of that, especially in today’s market

Vanilla wasn’t a narrative/story powerhouse to begin with, I still think most people play WoW because of the gameplay.

Vanilla is by far the worst story telling experience of them all. TBC improved and then by Wrath they’d got to decent story telling.

re-read the definition of delusional i posted before, because that’s how your words read/sound like. we don’t need “definitive numbers”. you just need to check how little positive engagement story content gets

vanilla was riding the warcraft 3 hype. also, the world/setting were more important back then

in last month I checked how much I paid to league of legends it was close to 200€ when I think about spending on WoW for something I take a look at Faerin and I decide not to spend

Faerin Lothar the saver of money, the friend of budgets.

And about story, I would rather ally myself with human supremacist side. Wasn’t this game mmorpg, rpg stands for roleplaying.

I would love to join my scarlet crusader, syndicate and defias bros instead of helping Faerin…

You do realize that statement makes you sound like a racist and/or misogynist, don’t you?

Yeah, that tracks with my above comment.

You’re the one claiming that the majority of all players dislike the current story.
I’m just asking for your source, or is it ‘Trust me bro’?

That makes you look very fragile, if one character triggers you that much :joy:

Stop trying to hijack this conversation and turn it into a reddit thread, for no good reason.
Stop your mental gymnastics. Just stop.

If any of the characters in the most current storyline were completely different races and genders, the story would still suck. Its borderline insulting.

Don’t protect developers, the current writing/zone/story staff is hit or miss, mostly miss.

Wotlk had a single storyline in a single zone between two insignificant sub factions, which was more dark and brutal than the last tree expansions combined.

At the end of the day, who is the current story being written and developed for ? Us or our children. I am confused. This is the glue that holds all the gameplay. Is the gameplay good… hit or miss.

p.s. The 10 valorstones you get for doing this is also insulting. There is a developer who works on quest rewards and itemization. Anyone going to defend them ?
