This is messed up. Im out. Thanks blizz for making me waste 30 hopefull hours only to be given the finger.

Sad you had the best name for the spec bro. Safe travels :frowning:

Wait for later phases to solo it and give the middle finger back. That is what i will do.

So if I get the rune by the end of the phase 1 am I a 1%er  Bar seems pretty low if just have to get to get to lvl 25 and do a 10 man “raid”.

Regardless of hyperbolic comments, feels bad that you didn’t have fun. Safe travels and bon voyage.

I feel like the people complaining the most about SoD wishes this was Season of Discovered instead of Discovery.

The Classic mentality is strong in this generation… Where they had 15 years to research and re-play an old game to find out every miniscule detail to min-max it, and when they don’t know something within a week, it’s too much for their mentality to handle.

This is some next level whiny bs

Having to put some work into getting a game defining rune, shocking.

Says who? Says you? That doesn’t mean anything. It’s classic. Classes are different, some classes have challenges others don’t. Not everything is balanced, not everything is fair. Some things are rare and give people (temporary) bragging rights. It’s not modern wow where you get to feel entitled.

Is it not at all possible that there’s another way to discover these runes in Horde zones? That was my assumption when I read people going to Alliance zones for them. I mean people are going to work at the known solution even if it means doing this.

Because it’s a bad design philosophy.

Think of it this way, you’re going to play 30 odd hours to hit 25, then do two difficult quest chains and a raid, to unlock the ability to tank which you no longer need as you’ve now completed all of the content.

Yes this is phase 1 you can tank in phase 2 however they sold this content to people as, you can tank as a Rogue or Warlock to draw in players. It’s a scummy marketing tactic which will kill the longevity of SOD because players will leave and not come back, again similar to how they lost a bunch of players in retail that have yet to come back.

If they were sensible enough about this, they should have made meta so that all it did was the demon form and armour/threat buff, given it as either the level 2 free rune or moved it to a level 10 quest, moved all the other ability changes that are on the current meta rune onto different runes that are then hidden away across the world even hidden behind the raid is fine. Getting the meta rune isn’t a you win button it’s not free epics, it’s basically a watered down new spec that let’s you play warlock differently, the equivalent of what they did would be making it so warriors cannot equip shields, mail armour or defensive stance and putting that all behind completing the max level raid, or a more apt analogy would be bear form on druids not being available until you complete the raid, since bear form fits what is happening her quite accurately, give meta at 10 like druids bear form, then the extra abilities like the charge, converting ranged moves to melee etc are all runes you collect from elsewhere.

The OP’s point went milas above your Sombrero senorita.

Wasn’t it hot fixed? Seems blizzard also thought was bad design lol.

No, they promised warlocks would be able to tank and they delivered. Some things are harder to obtain than others. They didn’t change any of the classes for the worse, but for the better. It just takes some classes more to get to that “better” part than the others. Different classes are different, it’s classic. If they took away warriors’ ability to wear shields, that would be a nerf, and they didn’t nerf any class.

You only need the first boss from BFD, which is easy. Then you can tank. That’s what our warlock will be doing, I’m filling in for tank in the meantime.

Why play a game when you can’t have everything easy casual mode?
If you don’'t want to actually play the game including raid, that’s fine, just don’t expect all runes then.

The game has 4 phases, we are in phase 1 after 5 days deal with it.

Again you ignored the bulk of what I said, so let me repeat myself:

It’s a bad design choice because you’re not working hard to get something you’re having to work hard to play the game the way you want to play, it would be like making it so you can’t make a mage character until you’ve done 25 levels and a raid as a warrior.

Technically you can make a mage, but you’ve made the system convoluted and un-fun, because here’s the dirty secret you might not be aware of, the ultimate goal of a game, is to be fun. It’s not to collect Epeen points and achievements, that’s something games companies started pushing to keep people on the treadmill without having to be creative. If the game is not enjoyable to play and you’re keeping players by exploiting the compulsive components of human brain chemistry you’ve made a bad game.

Before you say that’s an opinion, it’s not, if you’re only playing for the shiny shiny they have hidden at the end and the overall experience is un-enjoyable, what you have is an addiction, not a game.

Except they told you to go into the store and discover the burger after buying an entry ticket. Woopsy we didn’t hide it properly and wasn’t available, now we fixed it, but its at the back of the building, and you’ve used up all your energy doing a short walk and are now upset.

Newsflash, basher mad because he couldnt tank in cloth on day 2 of a new release.
Claims fraudulence when Blizzard never said it would be available straight away.
Forgets this is part 1 of a bigger picture that will take us to level 60 and possibly beyond.

You don’t buy a cheeseburger from Blizzard, you buy the ability to play an RPG and they provide that. You’re not buying a ready-to-tank warlock. It’s an RPG game, different classes have different journeys. I didn’t ignore the bulk of what you said, I just don’t feel the need to go into detail because your logic is flawed due to your sense of entitlement.

It’s like saying “It’s unfair that druids get to port straight to their trainer where I as a hunter cannot! I’m a paying customer, I should have everything the other classes have!”. No, you’re paying for a service to play on their server. You are free to choose the class, but not all classes will have the same experience. If you want them to, you can play the modern version.

@Cromiesel Looks like they hotfixed it so it’s no longer hidden behind a raid!

They hotfixed that dependency out. I think they took a good look at what that’d do to player retention and decided to not do that again and indeed undo that where they originally did it.
