Although the barber shop would be utterly harmless, it would be more of a TBC+ feature rather than one that would fit under the #somechanges category. Some changes are more meant to be number and restriction changes to systems and content that existed in original TBC.
So let’s just call it out for what it is, an additional feature which would make TBC better.
It’s not like this is a game changing addition and at the end of the day, if it’s for the betterment of the game, let’s have the balls to look into it.
Would be far less controversial than the paid boost crap they put in the game. Yet it won’t happen because there’s no additional revenue to be made from a simple barber shop.
It would be great to understand Blizzard’s stance on this.
Justifying a paid level boost, however they sugar coat it, yet push back on the idea of adding a barber shop (pretty mandatory in an MMORPG I would say…) would be quiet a difficult debate to win.
I still cringe at the thought of needing to make a new character in order to have a little shave…
and then we have people claiming slippery slope is a fallacy.
mind you,I don’t have anything against a barber shop, but doing it proves the slippery slope theory and that’s extremely bad.
Soon race change, then faction change. You’ll say “oh but I don’t want that”. Yeah, I didn’t want a barber shop but you wanting it got us a barber shop. There are other people wanting faction change and race change.
Slippery slope is small changes that lead to big changes. Boosts are already the most retail thing possible that has no connection with classic. So there is no more slope to slip on.
So what if they add race change and faction change? Boosts are already added which ruin classic so no reason not to please everyone with services which have way less impact than the boosts.
Barber shop is a good idea but as someone above suggested, Activision will NEVER bring it into the game. They won’t even consider or think about it at all, never forget that these are the most money thirsty and greedy men in the entire world. All they care about is money, nothing else. Neither making good games, nor your convenience or feelings have any significance for them.
A barber shop who is actually a barber but not a gynecologist or a surgeon (like in retail) would actually be a good addition to the game. I made a thread about this more than a year ago, couldn’t stand my hair color on my hunter. Obviously, Activision didn’t care, they dont even read EU forums except for deleting anti-boost posts lol. So I rerolled a new hunter in that time
Also: a small change like barber shop is nothing compared to the 58 boost they bring into the game anymore kekw. Stop worrying about this. It’s like being afraid of table knives in the middle of a nuclear war. Barber shop isn’t even 1% of a retail feature compared to paid boosts.
I am pleased to learn that more players support an in-game barber shop (12 months ago I’d wager a bunch of snowflakes wailing #nochanges would dominate this thread).
Still hoping for a Blizzard representative to share some feedback on this suggestion.
I would personally go with it to offer it as a paid-service for people who really want to change like p-servers have done. I think changing it constantly is too much Wotlk style.
OR add duel spec and make the barber extremely expensive to mitigate the gold sink loss from not having to pay 50g to respec everytime.
it’s not the difference that matters, it’s how allowing one segways the other.
they may be unrelated, but who says your demands have to be met, yet other don’t.?
