Addons in Midnight ⚠

They will implement their own dbm and stuff so you will know what to do dont stress

Sure, but looking at the timeline for the cooldown manager it’s looking like an alpha test for the proprietary omnicd or omnibar at around 2035 at this rate

Just give them the chance to do it, it is their decision in their game and they want to change it. Nothing can be done about this, minor tweaks according to feedback for sure, change of philosophy behind the game no way.

Then either leave if they fail in your eyes or adapt if they succeed. Sorry but it is how it is.

I’m ok wihout combat/cooldown addons. Since I’m casual player.
Guessed elite players will upset. But they need learn play wihout addons.
Or try use blizz’s own addons.

The most elite players were complaining addons have gone too far, so…

They don’t need to learn anything. They will still be the best players in the world. +10 and end of season aotc players will cry the loudest.

Im on the side of getting rid of addons too, but there is a misconception about having addons = cheating or making boss mechanics easier, for not other reason that blizz tuned and designed the boss mechanics with those auras and addons in mind .

I think this is where all the drama comes from.

Not 10 min ago tldr; Venruki talking about how getting rid of addons is a good thing for arenas, yeah, they must be pretty upset of wasting time programming addons and auras to play.

With upcoming housing we probably see a lot of new players coming from other mmo s.
Mostly of this players even dont know the addons, so its good there is no need for combat addons anymore.
And with the reduce of button bloat, who knows, WoW is going maybe a part of xbox as well.

From what I have seen on youtube, the new nameplates do not have the option to show mob level at all. If this is the case when the changes go live and Plater no longer works it’s the end for me in this game. I sincerely hope I have misunderstood something or if not, that option will be added.

I really hope you are trolling. If thats the reason why you quit, you are just looking for excuses to quit :skull:

Personally speaking, I am all for removal of addons. Been playing without them, and they will implement LESS invasive versions.

Having an addon just tell you where to stand or where to go, or even keep a track of ENEMY cooldowns and silences in pvp was partial cheating in my eyes.

Having mastery/experience should be enough to recognize the animations behind skills and keeping a mental track of them during people, that should seperate skill level of players, not gear, or how many addons they use. (Not saying players who use addons aren’t skilled but it has a clear impact)

While you disapprove, many other are in approval of this huge change. Myself too.

And that’s what are they doing - many people want addons to be gone.

Again, while many disagree, many also agree …

They won’t - they invested time, resources, testing and money to develop their own in game systems. Also they’re changing the classes so people won’t need so many addons to play game optimally and with this I think we will also see the changes in game mechanics (like raids or dungeons) where we won’t miss addons.

I have a quite bad case of ADD, any missing information makes the game much harder for me and enemy levels are very relevant when deciding how to approach them.

You need to move you mouse cursor over the enemy. Game tooltip will appear, which will indicate level among other things.

I partly agree - and disagree with both camps. The boss mechanics in raids were being designed exactly in line with the knowledge that people use WAs for everything. For example, the mythic worm boss in S1, forgot the name, guberus or whatnot, was impossible to do without extremely heavy WA’s to assign people to break the eggs. Without using external addons, this boss would not be possible to kill - or nearly impossible. The boardroom meetings would literally be about “how to make this as complicated as possible because everyone is using WAs” and it got to the point when the mechanics are just nothing short of re-tard-ed. Like mythic Soul-hunters boss. Wishing you best of luck defeating those without heavy WA’s, the whole encounter is an absolute freakshow.

At he same time, spell CD reminders and tweaks that make UI more neat and personal, I’m heavily in favor of keeping those. ESPECIALLY healing frames which you can change into changing color when there’s a magic debuff on a player and similar. How we’re going to heal without it is a mystery to me.

I guess we have to wait and see how they make it. I’m not holding my breath, but secretly hoping they will find some sort of a middle ground. Fingers crossed!

There is no challenge in current weakauras raids. Like split second perfect assignment of multiple people on specific positions, who has to do something exatctly 1 second after each other? Come on, that’s ridiculous. Such mechanic is made for weakauras, not for players. I hope they’ll be able to get back to more sensible raids where people have to actually think about more things, than the order in MDT note.

Yes and no. I’m already checked what they propose and it’s…meh
No target debuff tracking, like if you’re feral and want to track time left on rake and rip on target you switching fast tabbing and highlighting who’s soon to expire, no energy/charges/runes tracking, oh I’m always had a wish to break my eyes coz of that.

In other hand the overall look of it is pretty nice and imo usable for specs that are not heavily rely on procs/dots/non-mana resources

Encounters will get dumbed down so hard, that there will be no challenge again. It will be TBC style bosses from 2006 with couple of abilities and the biggest obstacle to kill boss is going to be healers running out of mana

The truth that you need to introduce any addon or 1 button tourist mode into a videogame is the indication that it is not even a videogame to begin with…
