Sofar what i read every similar threads, most of those who rejoice are never or rarely enter high lvl m+ or any raid besides lfr (mythic raids where you need these “kind” of addons most of the time), and claimed they wont touch such content once these “kind” of addons removed. So even with addon removal they wont do such content, so raider numbers wont increase at all, which was blizz plan.
I wouldn’t mind addons related to combat is being removed, I just want to my make my own ui, I remember spending hours on my ui just to fit the way I want it.
This being removed on midnight saddens me …
I’m one of the people who uses addons partly for accessibility issues, due to some issues involving processing of visual information. Addons like WeakAuras allow me to customise my UI in a way that removes unnecessary information (e.g. hiding abilities that are on CD), which allows me to better process the visuals on screen. I have been trying to practice with Blizzard’s build-in cooldown manager, but I’ve found it honestly frustrating to use. I have no way to hide abilities that are on cooldown, which increases screen clutter, and I cannot customise things like text, icons (I use some custom icons for spells just for visual aesthetics), or placement of spells beyond simple ordering (e.g. I cannot stack one spell on top of another), which means I cannot line them up nicely with my actual spell bars (which, again, helps me with processing because I am much better with spatial information than graphics, so placement is very important for me). I wouldn’t mind Blizzard’s decision if the cooldown manager was up to snuff in terms of customisability, but right now it simply isn’t good enough, and that affects those of us with disabilities most of all.
I mean i need gtfo addon to wake me up that i am standing in fire .i need weakauras addon to tell me certain information .i use plater addon which tells me which mob is priority for interrupting .
None of these things looks to be in the plans of blizzard . Which will pretty much force to me to leave healing .
I forsee another one of those told you so situation . It is going to hurt people who do high level content and it will not help the so called anti addon crowd as they will not be magically be able to do high level content .
I dont really care about much addons, in my opinion, the boss encounters are designed exactly because they know players use WAs and similar and it’s borderline madness mechanically. Counting down to the last second to get to X and get dispelled exactly 5s after that, pass on whatever debuff, man, it’s madness.
If you need GTFO addon to play the game, that’s on you.
But I cannot stress is enough - don’t touch the healing frames! Like, don’t! Healbot, Cell, vuhdo etc, is an absolute must for any healer in top end content. If the Midnight xpac comes with fully customizeable raid/party frames which allow custom debuffs tracking, magic/poison/curse healthbar color changes (to facilitate dispel), with Shift/Alt/Ctrl modifiers, then sure. But I’m skeptical Blizz will even try.
All this to push console/mobile. As if people who invest in expensive rigs would play on a controller xD.
This is a moment when the community should reverse the infamous quote back to the developers: You think you do, but you don’t!
Of course they must eradicate third party healing frames. It’s the same cheat.
Yeah…no. Mid level players will cry. High level players dont really care.
I don’t think we will be getting an omni bar or omni cd. They have stated they don’t want us seeing each others interrupts. Or have they walked that back?
such statement is rooted in a sizeable inexperience. Quality of life improvements is convenience, not cheat. I drive to work because it’s more efficient than getting up at 4am and walk. But I digress, somehow I suspect having a meaningful discussion with you on this matter isn’t going to be very productive, and so I won’t be engaging in this thread anymore. Wishing well to all healers in Midnight - if there are any left, that is.
Edited out
That is not on me .it is on blizzard for not giving any viable alternative .
I’ve had already one person telling me (not on forums of course) that if I can’t play a game without addons, my place is in nursing home (if that’s the correct English word) and not in a game. It saddens me to think after all these years of playing and paying Blizzard appears to have the same idea.
if they disable some “combat” addons for the health of raids and stuff… are they going to disable addons like TSM who spam the server and crash the auction house, now and then, for the health of the game? ![]()
All we can realistically can do is cancel the subscription and if you got a lot of months left maybe see if there is a way to get s refund because of the size of the change of the product we first payed for.
The only way to get a reaction is with our wallets
The problem with that is that Blizzard react slow even to that. Like the feedback they get from 1 expansion translates into 2 expansions later.
That being said, if you do not like the game or the direction its heading you should not continue to support it. Don’t unsub in order to send a grand message because it will fall on deaf ears, unsub on your own behalf and no one elses.
Aren’t all enemies following an exact formula nowadays?
- In the overworld, enemies are either exactly equal to your or 1 level below you
- In dungeons, trash are 1 level above you and bosses are 2 levels above you
- In raids, trash are 2 levels above you and bosses are skull level
The exceptions while levelling or in legacy content don’t even matter.
This would be the best advertisement for the game. Literally everyone in Classic who isn’t already on Retail would jump ship to Retail, and it would also attract the crowd that wants equipment and stats to make up for lower reaction time and ability to track in-combat stuff.
There is a misconception here. If playerA does not use addons and reaches up to difficulty X, and playerB who uses addons and reaches difficulty X+y suddenly also “drops” to difficulty X with the removal of addons, then there is an equalizer in place. Which means more people at one’s level to play with.
Isn’t that proof that the healing game needs to change as well?
I also don’t understand the need to have the health bar change color when a debuff is applied. The base game right now literally allows to show up to 3 debuffs on the party/raid frame and gives the option to filter them to only show those you can dispel based on class and talent picked. So if you see a square there, just hit your Cleansing ability. Only in the absolute highest of difficulties would you need to check for stacks or if you need to wait for a 2nd/3rd debuff to be applied to remove them with one case etc.
It seems to me that a lot of healers have not given the base frames a chance.
The current frames literally have this feature since at least the prepatch of Dragonflight, possibly earlier. I can’t find any in-battle screenshot from Shadowlands to see if base party frames had filtered debuff showing back then too.
The base game literally has the outer part of the entire screen show up an effect if you are standing in something you shouldn’t: Fire if it’s fire, voidy if it’s void etc.
I think the disconnect exists because a lot of players have not checked out what the current base game UI options can do and just go by streamers and clickbait videos.
I know what it offers. I feel like a beggar asking Blizzard for base stuff. It’s pathetic and yes, i’ve seen all alpha changes.
Filters suck, important buffs are not listed, any conditional logic is missing, glow control is decided by blizzard and it’s simply abyssmal.
For raid frames: Vuhdo style positioning of buffs/hots is not present (it’s my choice, and i dislike it being taken from me), frames size based on raid group size, frame coloring based on buffs ( a popular way to track atonement on disc).
Basic UI: Do i even need to bring the fact that 4 years later we still lack a box where we can insert X and Y axis for different elements? Damage meter? Still not present to test in alpha.
Nameplates - This one is the funniest. Blizzard has a concat option they introduced in alpha, where if you enable health number and health percentage, you see just the… first letter of the NPC. No way to adjust how CVAR and stacking acts, it’s either blizzard’s way or deleting the game. No way to color nameplates. No way to rename mobs (yes, i don’t want the Venture CO insert something here).
Cooldown Manager post update - extremely watered down version of TellMeWhen. Don’t even dare to compare it to WeakAuras, even now it’s not comparable to the Cataclysm version of WA.
Separate class resource tracker - missing( has a bad workaround with personal resource display)
All of this is basic stuff, half of them affecting not only player preferrence but also accessabillity, for which Blizzard haven’t said a single word.
absolutly, i only unsub if i plan to quit the game not to “pressure” the compnay because that’s useless.
tbh if the things stay close to the alpha, it’s okay for me i will check back in when the last titan drops, but the current “ideas” they have are special.
Agree, removal of complexity cant be the solution to whatever blizzard wants to fix.
Classes in wow have always been deep, rich and complex. This is a huge step(and sudden) to simplify them and to rip apart what differentiates wow from other mmos and games.
A way to make it simpler for new players and keep it with customization and rich in options for competitive or highend players must be possible.
Thats what keep a lot of people playing this great game.
They literally arent. This illusion has to stop. Not a single spec is complex or deep.
Removing unnecessary spells is the right choice.
