Blizzard said that a while ago. Might in fact have been ion himself even. They were discussing the “arms race” regarding encounter design and addon creation. Also a reason why DBM received a nerf after hfc

Or more that they pay giga attention to the addon scene in general as creating encounters not ready to take on the addon army would just result in a sub 1hr boss. Look at Guardian for instance. The boss is an absolute joke
Blizzard is also regularly nerfing addons if they deem it necessary. DBM was just one tool. However you dont need any addons for anything below mythic. And even some Mythic fights addons are not really needed.
I believe there’s actually a guild of people that are aurally impaired (to give it a non offensive term) that raided Heroic CN last tier and quite possibly doing it this tier as well
or they said it to appease and decomplex the community using for the vast majority third party program to beat the game

there’s two things I want to point out here:
- OP is DPS and hasn’t killed a single mythic boss
- most raiders don’t rely blindly on BW or DBM, but instead write weak auras for (sometimes complex) situations to highlight something otherwise not visible in the interface

As a healer, the default UI is just downright bad.
Dumbing down class design makes people also dumber. Look at all Multi-Rank-Ones. Still playing this joke and pushing high ratings. Hilarious.

I think that the built in raid frames are pretty good, I find myself using those instead of the various replacements you can get, I’d argue that the default ui for healers is less bother than any addon if you’re willing to change the settings and use mouse over macros.
Healing addons can be great until they start bugging out, also even when they actually work properly, figuring out how to configure them seems more trouble than it’s worth most of the time. When I first started healing I used addons for healing in dungeons, because the default player frames were a bit awkward and sometimes too small, but once I discovered that I could use raid frames in a dungeon and that I could configure the raid frames to display useful info and position them anywhere, it became clear that addons weren’t adding much.
Though I must say clique is really good, so I recommend clique + raid frames, nice and clean.
I don’t use any addons specific for healing. I use Elvui and WA. The default UI just has no customization, I can’t put icons for my hots/buffs where I want them, I can’t show people’s CDs, I can’t check what people died from, I can’t check people’s uptime on buffs(This is a really big one).
I also can’t make player frame, target, tot and focus frames look like how I want them.
The default actionbars sucks as well.
I can’t track quaking.
I can’t track interrupts.

DBM does help good players excel even further and become awesome, though. While they’d be able to see a mechanic as it’s about to happen without an addon, by looking at timers they can prepare and position properly/save cds ahead of time.
All combat addons like dbd,bw and the majority of WA are unhealthy for the game and should be disabled.
Honestly cant believe the game is being designed around 3rd party addons instead of it being the other way around.
And the worst part about them is u are pretty much forced to use them unless ur okay with trolling your raid because they are so strong
