[ADRP] What do you think is wrong with Horde RP?

The story is the main reason for the state of the Horde RP. Another reason is mixing IC with OOC and vice versa, but I won’t be opening that can of worms.

Both of those factors have made a schism in the Horde community that is hard to mend. Both sides have strong communities which can sustain themselves, but if you are not in any of those due to IC reasons…well, tough luck I guess.

I have mastered the art of staying out of trouble… fishing rods are more intelligent and based then people… if people speak to you reply with the smacking of a trout.

You wearing that horrible outfit after being told IC and OOC that is looks like a crate full of snakes exploded all over you is the problem.

You never listened to Aery and Eralm…

It’s thematic to mana wyrms. You two never had a sense of transmogging anyhow. Always wearing basic blizzard premade sets.

And yet we always looked better than you! Ha!

Declining playerbase in general probably has a fair bit to do with it; I’ve noticed a fair few people who came back for the start of BfA put down their subscription again, in part because of the glacial pace of story development, and in part because of just… kind of running out of content, once they hit endgame. I imagine some of the latter may be coming back for 8.2, at least.

I will say I’ve been pleasantly surprised with the solutions people have figured out in the meantime, though - migrating/smaller hubs for different themes, smaller more concentrated story sessions like the Proudhorn Nomads and Will of the Warlords. It’s not as if Horde RP is dying, it’s just more spread out than it was in Legion. Which has in turn led to some interesting encounters in hosting the Roaming Hub!

Good God, man. That is like the Stephen King drinking game. It’s been known to kill people! Even Undead people!

I’ve seen arguments like these a few times from people who roleplay Sylvanas-supporters, that based on what we know as players, we have no reason to rebel. This is debatable, on things such as, do we know why Baine was imprisoned? What Sylvanas had done to Derek? Because it’s yet unclear on whether that’s widespread information, I haven’t picked up on it IC - yet.

But Battle for Lordaeron happened - specifically the Blight attack, and the nature of that was plain for all to see. Along with the burning of Teldrassil, it was enough to convince my character that Sylvanas has got to go. And when the Horde as a whole didn’t react to that - bar one orc - that really killed the mood for me, because that inaction seems so terribly forced.

I believe the rebellion has been far too slow to start. I had expected to see signs of it right from the launch of 8.0 (During data-mining of BfA, I wishfully thought that the Honorbound faction was some splinter-faction of Horde that fought on its own, more honorable terms, rather than Sylvanas’. Turns out it was the opposite).

And that’s part of the problem with Horde RP for me. Like others put it, the story itself makes it extremely difficult to enjoy it right now. For an expansion about faction war, I am so not invested in the victory for the Horde. Not only that, but the part of it that I love (the one standing up to Sylvanas) isn’t even clearly represented for me to confidently roleplay yet.

When BfA is over and Sylvanas is hopefully out of here, I hope there will be some resurgence in Horde RP, where we can actually experience some uninterrupted unity. Because like a lot of people say, the division that the story has created makes it a bitter, unsatisfactory experience.

You say that as if Blizzard won’t screw it up…

But that’s non of my business…

The event was public enough that Gallywix was selling tickets for the imprisonment - I imagine it was intended to be public knowledge.

Edit: And Baine explains his rationale as part of the cinematic afterwards, including what happened to Derek.

The true way to wrap up the Horde story:

After we get a 40 minute in-game cutscene of Sylvanas personally torturing a kidnapped child, she gives orders to blight Orgrimmar and Thunder Bluff. When survivors gather in Nazjatar that she has now taken over, they are all summarily executed. Then when all hope seems lost, she hits N’zoth once with an arrow and he dies, revealing that she was good all along. She is instantly forgiven, and as the world lies in ashes and filled with blighted corpses, statues are built in her honour in every city, and a new elven city is built called Sylvanasaar.

Saurfang realises the error of his ways, Thrall retires, and Gallywix is made warchief while he smirks villianously.

Edit: Forgot what happens to Sylvanas.

Prior to popular believes, she doesnt die. Instead she willingly gives up the throne as the last Val’kyrs uses their powers to sacrifice themselves and turn her semi-human (enough to feel physical pleasure and some emotions). She goes off to marry Nathanos, and as a wedding gift, Eyir grants her unlimited Val’kyrs again.

Gallywix is the only one to bring true prosperity to the Horde.

As I said above, Blizzard’s narrative isn’t a problem. If people can ignore world ending threats in order to RP their own stories, they can find a way around the current nonsense.

If there is something wrong with Horde RP, it’s not in Blizzard’s bad writing. It is things that have existed in RP communities since the time of Ultima Online I guess.
