[ADRP] What is wrong with Stormwind RP?

Stormwind RP is like tourism in a capitol city. Full of hidden gems.

Go for a wander and say hi to some strangers along your way. Genuinely a lot of fun.

Stormwind RP is only bad when someone breaks the unspoken RP conventions and everyone in stormwind mobs that guy like they’re white blood cells and he’s a virus.

Phones be using characters I aint played in the butt end of forever to post. Why doesn’t it default to my highest level and I level character.

  • I am Forgen.

I’ve found that whenever you login, either on a new device or cus you logged out of the forums, it always sets you on a completly random character.

It particularly likes my level 20ish blood elf hunter on Scarshield Legion I haven’t logged into since TBC.

If you mean “unspoken RP conventions” as being as mundane as possible, then boy you better call the UN because I’m breaking all the Conventions around here.

Tbh all some people need to do is relax and have fun. Would make it much less of a ball ache to be in the city with constant scrutenizing gazes and whispers.

Also buy the odd cookie from a wholesome merchant walking by, you’re missing out

I play to win, not to have fun. Loser attitude get out, winners come on.

There is no loose in Stormwind, but there is a Win in StormWINd.

On a more topic related note. Second life rp’ers are what’s wrong with Stormwind.

The last time I did that in SW my character was drugged.

Many things, too many to list.

Looks at the title as he closes his eyes and opens them while pulling up his nose and spam his keyboard
The question should be what is not wrong with it, you have a random man showing up asking for some gold, clothes or just anything if that ain’t the case at the moment then it would be a night elf that approaches you and asks if you have time to talk. Later that talk you go to a spot that you would think is private and do some nasty typical stuff and then getting screenshotted and laughed at by everyone that sees it… That’s the heavy one, got a closet full of the cons of Stormwind RP, Not alliance RP  That’s different, the Stormwind one is a big difference because most new ones would go there and see some random people, the first thing they would think of is what i said before.

They’re mostly harmless though. Not the most interesting bunch but they don’t really seem to bother anyone.

I think the problem with Stormwind RP is people having a problem with Stormwind RP.

Who says that wasn’t what I was aiming for? :eyes:

This problem isn’t unique to Stormwind but I’m noticing that a lot of characters are a little too eager to get into a physical fight. One that they specifically kick butt in. Do you really think it’s sensible to drunkenly stagger into a fully armed and armored paladin, insult the guy and flash a dagger in his face?

I’m all for tension and conflict but this gets silly real quick.

I’m all for characters making poor decisions I’d the player behind the character is willing to accept that stupidity has consequences. Some of the most fun RP I’ve had in Stormwind was when my old human rogue got drunk, picked a fight and got thrown into the canal.

I meant sensible more from a player standpoint, rather than character.

Having spent the past couple weeks RPing almost exclusively in Stormwind for the first time in years, I kind of struggle to say it’s extremely problematic. On the whole the place isn’t stellar, but in my experience that has more to do with there being a lot of people than specific groups dragging the place down. Even campaigns have historically suffered from getting a wide variety of characters and personalities involved, in Stormwind that’s just a constant factor. I’m sure I’m not alone in being selective with who I interact with under normal circumstances, so doing the same in Stormwind really shouldn’t be that difficult.

If you want to be rooted in the place I can definitely agree it’s bad, but for short periods of time (like in-between world events or coming off of a recently finished guild storyline), I think it’s fine. Most places really aren’t that much better unless you’re interacting with people you already know.

Nah, I mean things like

  • don’t declare yourself as the de facto owner of a location
  • don’t force other players to abide by your rules
  • don’t be a dick
  • try to keep to the established lore - or at least be strongly based in it
