It’s absurd that’s there only sort by “current” bid when it’s about pricing. I noticed a seller posts stuff with starting bid of ‘1’ copper and a very high sell bid (300% actual market price). He filled up the first few pages and people buy his outpriced stuff.
So I though I’m gonna mess his game, I started posting stuff at lower bids than his and lower buyout. Within few seconds, he has bid on all my auctions to “push them” away from the first few pages. Probably using some addon. I decided to do the same but I can’t keep up by manually trying to bid on his items; I use auctionator and it doesn’t have any auto bidding macros or what not like he uses.
Anyways, the whole situation is absurd abuse of the consumer and this can be easily fixed by a having the default ah sort stuff out by BUYOUT. This should be fixed now. Let this be a fair game not an abuse game.
Edit: Needless to say, this is done by not just one guy but many and on a lot of markets. I discovered this by mistake as some of auctions were sold even at a high price when I put it on a short duration. After checking the default interface, it hit me that the poor buyer has no way to sort stuff by buyout and needed to sort stuff by other than “bid” to see some other auctions and he probably used sort by duration just to get some reasonable prices and that’s why my auction sold … it’s disgusting that blizzard has never fixed this easy problem by simply adding a sort by buyout. It’s a minimum effort thing that would greatly increase the quality of life of buyers who just wanna sort auctions based on the price they will pay … no respect at all to players.
Why can’t people just agree to the obvious solution instead of arguing how “alright” it is. You’re complicit if you don’t push for changing this absurd ah system.

I did not read but title. Anyway, I agree or let us choose which sort we want between buyout or bid

I have this as a macro atm
/run SortAuctionItems("list", "buyout")

I don’t need it. I need to destroy this abuser, I want my auctions, which are lower priced than his, to be shown first by everyone without needing your damn macro.

Yeah get out if you can’t see the seriousness of the issue here. Your macro won’t stop this guy and won’t help me sell my items even though they are lower than his. I’m struggling to sell my items because he’s abusing the stupid UI from blizz and I guess because people are not aware of your magical macro right? That’s your solution?

You can use tradeskillmaster to bid on his low priced auctions easily, forcing him to either sell those bids to someone who is bidding (you, another ah user) for a meager 1 copper or forces him to relist.
If someone wants to have 1 copper bid, they have to suffer the consequences of losing so much money on people bidding on their one copper auctions and forcing them either to cancel and lose deposit or sell the items for 1 copper.
If he wants to lose money, that’s on him. Anybody using tsm sniper bid search will grab those items immediately for resale. And he will eventually run out of stock.
I don’t think they are going to change the way the AH works unless it’s a change that was available in Vanilla.
TSM can only bid by the min amount which is not enough to push you up the front pages. He’s using some custom macro or some other addon. I just did some research and I’m close to figuring it out. BUT this is not the solution to fair market. This is just me abusing the system like he’s doing. This is not what I want, I want the god damn buyer to be able to sort the items by the price he’s gonna pay (wow blizz no such feature right? Perhaps, we just need a macro!) so this can become a fair game for both buyers and sellers. As a person who love the economy game, I wanna play it fair.

1st, they can cancel the auction. 2nd, the bid would never work since someone is gonna buyout the item by the time it sells. You wanna wait 12 hours till you get your silk/ore? Let’s assume some bid got though, it gets cancelled. He forgot to cancel it? No harm, acceptable loss to the cost of business where he sells stuff 4-5x the market value.
Thanks for nothing.
Well he’s really good at the latter.
People trying to help him and he’s just rude.

Help me by making this very serious issue that allows the scamming of thousands look like it’s ‘fixable’ by a macro that practically does nothing? That’s not helping.

lulw you just want to vent, you’re not looking for actual solutions.
Your solution is raging about how things should be and not trying to fix it yourself.
You’re crazy or what? I actually said exactly what the god damn solution is: default sort by buyout. Rather than seller name or bid value. You go to buy stuff, there is a “buyout” button but there is no sort by buyout!! Lol. It’s like you go for shopping but you’re not allowed to see the price! Insane.
But for some reason, people wanna keep this scam alive and stupid people like you and puny elf makes it even harder raise this issue to blizz.

Yeah okay, so your solution is that the setting should be different?
“Oh things would be better if things were different! And if you wanna help me in the meantime fudge off dude! ur not being serious enough!”

If you’re going to make a complete jerk of yourself anyways just keep it to yourself. They wanted to try and help and you throw away their charity and spit on them instead.
Your “solution” is great and all, but what until then? They weren’t acting like their macro would fix all your problems, they thought it would help so they shared.
You made this thread to vent to the general public because you wanted to complain about something you felt was unfair. That’s fine. You being hostile to people who don’t deserve it though is ridiculous.

It’s not stupid who sells, it’s stupid who buys. If the people in that realm are willing to cough up 300% market value prices, then that’s on them.
You can waste time trying to get “justice” on the current auction house because some people know how to game the current system, but that’s just a waste of time. He’s not doing anything wrong either and not forcing people to buy his stuff.
Bidding on each of his items will eventually make him lose all his stock for minimal value. He can’t force the whole realm to buy his overpriced goods within 12 hours, lots of people have basic addons for this or even macros.
But it’s your choice if you’re going to waste time with some random ah dude.

That’s on them for saving time? Yeah I might actually pay more if it saved me 4 minutes of flipping pages on the AH. They’re not stupid but they’re being forced to choose between their time and their in game money because people like you come here to defend a stupid retarded system that allows this to happen. Shame on you.

I’m not defending blizzard’s manual ah system: it’s pretty garbage and the reason I originally sought out an AH addon from the very beginning. Nor do I need to be ashamed of anything, you’re barking at the wrong tree.
Still, sellers don’t mind control people to not use macros or ah addons or farm mats themselves or even use trade channel to buy things they need. Without demand there is no market, these buyers create the demand for these items by themselves. Wow economy is capitalistic by nature, there is no moral dilemma over selling virtual items for virtual gold outside gold selling businesses.
If you want AH settings to change, you can whine at blizzard. Calling other forum goes by names won’t help you accomplish that, it only makes you look immature.
