If you start off fresh, you dont have ACCESS to Edit Mode.
And I think most people already have tried to use Edit Mode with all of its bugs and bollocks included.
So instead of trying to defend Blizzard for something they messed up, which they did by the apparent rushed nature of this ‘new’ UI, do some critical thinking before reacting to everyone.

What!? How so?
Adding my vote to the ‘hate it side’, I don’t have the time or the energy to learn the edit function just to get my ui back to a rough approximation of how it was yesterday. I suppose I’ll just go and play Classic WotLK for a while until the ClassicUi addon is updated

Go on, make an alt, choose Exile’s Reach as a starting zone. Go into your menu afterward and tell me what you see.
Go on, I’ll wait. You take a minute or so.
You’ll waste 5 minutes on a very easy edit mode, which you’ll be able to save and automatically put on your alts, on top of a classic look preset made by blizz
I’ll check it out. But even if true, that’s a whole other issue. I’ve never stated the Ui doesn’t have bugs. In fact it has plenty. I’m talkinh solely about making it look like the old one, which easy and fast
I hate it! They didn’t even bother to give the option to use the old, good ones. And i subbed for this month to play, what a scam! Last time i sub i promise!
Even the damn griffons are blocking the bars, how dumb is that? Ah i can remove them from settings, a tip to the needy.

Sui is a darkmode addon. Maybe that’ll help

A number of UI elements are disabled during the time you spend on Exile’s Reach, Edit mode included.
Personally I think they should just leave it available but the island generally tends to be super handholdy.
Thanks Dumbledore, the classic preset is a starting point at least that will make it usable for now.
This is something I wasn’t aware of and makes no sense.
In fact, blizzard should make it available and should add a tutorial tooltip telling the player they can edit the interface

17 years, I log in and I can play but no… I need to spent hours of precious game time sorting this eye aids UI. Not even an option to use the old UI… this is beyond a middle finger to those who have stuck around for years.
Put the old UI in as an option, stop being EVIL!

I too dont like it at all, so i changed mine to resemble my old ui as i had screenshots on multiple characters. I enabled up to 6 action bars. The old ui has 2x 6 bars on the bottom right center of the screen, it puts all of these into action bar 3, the first 6 are what used to be the bottom and from 7 to 12 used to be the top row. So i just dragged these (holding shift) to the top. I left the full 12 as i can see them coming in handy. to be honest i was always short a few action bars on the old ui. now i can slowly add more on screen and /or rearrange my spells over time as i see fit. but this feels fine for now. I also reduced the size of the action buttons down to 80% as thats what im used to
And one really annoying thing for me i fixed was while in combat interface pop ups showing up that would obscure my cast bar, like the talking head, extra abilities etc. now they wont block it anymore.

i hate it with a passion i literally just finished redoing my UI cus i lost all my addons and stuff from 13 years of playin wow and now i have to start over again cus Elvui doesnt work anymore

the Chat bar is the worse part of it … they designed a new outer line for the chat bar that makes it so you literally cant move it to a corner , it just blocks you from doing it , i hate it i hateeeeeeeee it more than anything that has happen to this game …

Just give it a try. Everything new needs to be accustomed to. I actually like it but wish action bars could have more slots. And you can move around the frames through Edit.

With the UI scaler and the new options, pretty much anything can be sized and moved to your own liking.
