Look yes, I understand you love collecting mounts, I know it’s a challenge you love, I know how good it feels to know you have done so much for a collection.
But my point is exactly that.
Some pets/toys/mounts are so insanely grindy/luck based that im amazed on how people have the patience to do them, in a way, I do admire them.
But rarity is rarity, you wouldn’t be that happy to know that you have the same mount 2 million people do. (Random numbers tossed here, not trying to guess subs)
Imagine that 100 mounts have a 90% chance of dropping.
50 have a 40% chance of dropping.
20 have a 11% chance of dropping, and 7 and a 0,02 chance of dropping. (2%)
You got them all. You feel good, you managed to do more and way beyond some people would.
You have 177 mounts in that case, and alot of them are really, REALLY hard to get.
Why is that preposterous that 1/178, one out of all those, is extremely rare, a gem that cannot be obtained after even a year or two of attempts?
People fought and fought, camped sites, just to get it.
And imagine you did.
Overwhelming satisfaction.
I think it’s more than fair, that one 178th mount would be like, 1 out of 50000000.
But that’s ME.
A link to this book would be great.
Aswell as the: you can only play 1 class or character in an MMORPG stuff.
If that is the case, why can we have 50 characters on 1 account?
Well according https://www.worldofwargraphs.com/global-stats/mounts some of my most favourite mounts are quite common. And since I do not believe in unique snowflakes I believe people like me, who cannot care less of rarity, are not rare or one off.
Hello, How many tries did you have before dropping the Star Wars mount from Rustfeather please?
I would never be bothered with such a thought in any way.
I ride mounts i like and the ones i like the best. Rare or not. There will be more people owning that mount and sharing the fondness for said mount.
Not using a mount or a transmog or a title because x% of the players also use it or can use it just wont work.
I am not saying that we need to give away mounts, but it is going over the top just because of their statistic called MAU’s.
my own experience:
I have maxed out my weekly islands expo quest for several months on several characters (stopped counting mid october, but was up to 350-ish weekly islands caps) yet i still only have 2 mounts.
Where as others who have just done 30-40 island caps are running around with 4 or more mounts or whatever.
Soundless / Rustfeather / Arachnoid Harvester have retarded low droprates.
Soundless in particular since he spawns in between 8-20 hours(?, not 100% sure) and then also has this really low droprate.
I mean, i get it.
Rare mounts are really nice but just look at them.
Every rare mount in BFA (and all xpacs before this one) is a simple recolor of models we already know. And most of the players already own these mounts or their models, although a green raptor vs a yellow raptor. (Example)
A few years ago rare mounts meant a unique model. Amani War Bear, the first “bear” mount.
It would mean way more to me, if rare mounts are actually unique in their model instead of being a simple recolor.
So than, actually getting it brings me something unique.
Ye Blizzard should definitely tailor the game around people who play 10 characters …
Sorry, no. If you are an altoholic you won’t keep up with the rest who focus on 1-2 characters.
Yeah, how on earth will they squeeze every last penny out of you if you don’t have to spend 3 weeks per character catching up just to be sure they can’t destroy your class/spec in one wave of a hand and leave you months behind?
Check Kevin Jorden on youtube and his stream on twitch. He was lead system designer during classic and he have plenty of videos where he explains why. And as someone said tailor game around owning multiple chars is absolute nonsense. Majority of players do not activily play more than 1 main and 1 alt. And butcher systems just to please few entilted gamers what dont see negattive impacts of such systems becouse all they care about is how they can profit from it is never gonna happen.
There isnt single class/spec what is broken or unplayable. If you swap class just becouse its performamce is 10% lower in some period of expansion than its all your problem.
TL/DR: Not even sure why i bother anyway, your response will be: you dont get changes because that is mmorpg rule and didnt read wall of text
Well, if that was their intent they would have made it like this:
Pick a server - pick a class and just play said class.
Wanna play a different class, you have to delete your other class because we designed this game about 1 character per subscription.
Negative impacts, i have seen you post this a lot.
I still cant figure out what they are and what will cause them.
Because apparently asking for changes that will keep us play more and more frequently will hurt Blizzard’s income for sure.
If you would read the feedback and suggestions they all boil down to:
i would love to play more WoW or more characters
But i am put off because of insert gameplay system here or whatever
But sure, asking for changes to improve the game and most if not all suggestions arent doing any harm to the game and can bring more people to play the game and therefor increase Blizzard’s income down the line.
Nobody gets hurt from catch up gear.
Nobody will get any hurt from a currency system for essences
Nobody will get hurt if leveling takes just 15 hours in Shadowlands vs 25 hours now (example)
Nobody gets hurt if i decide to play 5 characters and you only want to play 1 character.
So please, give me any reason why asking for a change to a game people enjoy or will enjoy more with the change is such a bad thing.
This majority of player statistic about 1 main / 1 alt, you got a source?
Edit:
Just noticed your pvp rank, level 61. That is pretty amazing considering you got level 120 in november 2019. Ow wait, this paladin is an alt.
Surely not your only one either.
Ow and the 5 max level character achievement aswell.
how can you play “regularly” yet have no time to do one time 30 min naz/mech unlock?
You know rare something should be rare to justify rare tag
catch up destroys my motivation to play a lot activities existing in wow. You know why bother now if it will be on silver plate 2 months later.
So i get hurt.
You and me both!!! That’s why I don’t like Mechagon XD
Many todays quests between 33-34 and 52 didn’t exists in classic so extensive grinding of mobs required to pass them,30-34 had quests in STV which used to be gank fiesta on pvp servers, so for many players leveling through grinding mobs began even after lvl 29-30. After hitting lv52 there were a lot quests in high end zones, like blackrock gorge and steppes, plaguelands, silithus, winterspring etc. Good spots for grinding like naga cave in feralas were very crowded with grinders and gankers as well, forcing players to grind in less appealing zones.
Tell that to Mists of Pandaria Shadow Priests. Tell that to Warlords of Draenor Shamans, no matter how many topics they made during BETA they still went ahead and released them in such a pathetic state that nobody would take a Shaman if they weren’t Restoration because both DPS specs needed to outgear everybody else to compete with them. Even then there immediate fixes amounted to barely anything. Imagine rolling into a patch where they pull that nonsense off and then realise “Hey, i couldn’t progress on my alt because I had to work on my main, so now i have to start over”.
Blizzard never learned their lesson and still often make decisions that’ll either dismantle how fun it is to play or how balanced it is. And in truth, only a minority of players are dedicated enough to play a class purely for numbers over how much they enjoy playing it.
But you said you got to 60 without doing dungeons ![]()
Also you are ignoring facts again that until later vanilla they added quests which were still not enough to level with so added more again.
(Just a reminder this thread is not about classic at all)
What?? Surely Blizzard has learnt from people wanting some more alt friendlyness and wouldn’t put…
“Prepare for 8.3 Visions of N’zoth by learning about the unlock requirements and how to complete the Visions of N’zoth Introduction Questline, which unlocks the new legendary cloak Ashjra’kamas, Shroud of Resolve, Horrific Visions, and Assaults. This questline is not account-wide and must be done once on every character, taking around 1.5 hours to complete on each character once you know what to do and where to go.”
Not sure if someone pointed this out here before as I didn’t read the entire thread.
Edit: Should probably put the article here as well.
Do remember that all this information is based on the PTR. The point of a PTR is to test; it would make no sense to let players skip the quest line on the PTR as the goal is to test it!
Although given Blizzard’s recent record, I also wouldn’t be too surprised if they did make you do it on every character.
What class is unplayable right now? Im sure you don’t need to have all classes to prevent “unplayability” of your character.
It seems to me more like “I want to have all classes ready so I can play the most fotm class every patch” …
catch up destroys my motivation to play a lot activities existing in wow. You know why bother now if it will be on silver plate 2 months later.
So i get hurt
Well, than it is really simple:
A: if catch up mechanics arent around, the game will slowly die and you gotta stop playing at that point.
B: stop playing right now, we get new content on a regular basis making certain things obsolete. It is part of wow and isnt going away. If you have an issue with it, you might aswell save yourself the trouble and stop playing.
This simply isnt a legit argument to be against changes that can / will improve the game for basically everyone.
Stop telling us your efforts feel wasted if x or y happens. Because even without the suggestions in any thread about anything, that is a given fact.
Not to mention i dont see the silver plate at all. All catch up mechanics still require you to play to actually make use of it.
