It’s not real vanilla but neither is Era if any change whatsoever counts as it being non-authentic.
I think it’s safe to say we will not have an authentic vanilla experience ever again, but this Fresh server change setup is the standard for any further Classic experiences.

I agree about Era. It has some tweaks but it’s pretty close to genuine. I can live with that tbh. But seriously, SoD and this upcoming anniversary version, nah… screw that.

I’m not sure what changes that occurred after 2019 launch are implemented to Era.
No honor decay? Spell batching, some world buffs not dispellable. New guild UI?
Might of Stormwind, Rend buff equivalent.

Might of Stormwind is long gone. They reverted that. Guild UI is pepega but it doesn’t really hurt my gameplay. The honor decay is alright, never really cared about that either. Dispellable world buffs change is alright, keeps the griefers out, but there are still ways to kill someone fully worldbuffed. And that’s that.
But these other versions have a tons of things you could write a full page about.
It’s a joke.
All our hairlines are not vanilla as well.

that’s only a fraction of the things that have been changed but instead of complaining about them (leeway and layering is a personal aggravation) i’ll just mention that the people that play classic are the worst part of it. 90% of them never had any actual desire to play vanilla they just wanted to follow the hype train and their favourite retail streamers and now they’re stuck here because of how seasonal retail is. Ingenious subscription-based business model.

Oh yes SOD is so successful they are panic releasing a fresh “classic” “era” server to retain the SOD crowd.

They release a fresh ERA server at the same time the new SoD phase begins. You really think it’s in order to retain SoD players ?
SoD players stop/leave when there is no content. Not days before new content is release.
I logged into SOD a few days ago to copy some of my macros. The game is completely dead.

Meanwhile, the average player playing on Era PvP / PvE, Classic 1 HC, Cata gets completely invalidated.
It’s time to wake up and stop supporting this shell of formerly known Blizzard Entertainment, once industry defining, now spineless and out of ideas beyond mere influencer catering.
Big and small mixed: new options UI, changed character create screen, NPCs changed, renamed … FP markers in map, you can move things in bags or equip/unequip gear while on a FP, opening maps do not close your bags, some spell animations are wrong, /spit is removed, Open all button added to map, Chronoboon, layers, the ability to not show all ranks in spellbook.
Biggie: No GMs around.
It’s not vanilla, and it’s a further from vanilla than era (which itself has moved a bit away from vanilla). People are still eager to start playing, which is great for them. If however you’re like me and want something more resembling vanilla, then come join us on era instead.
You know the good thing about choice? You get to choose for yourself 
I was logged in, in Firemaw server for laughs and /who definitely is chock full of people no matter the search terms I used. Seems like the population is pretty healthy from that angle, but it is only good people can actually have a choice compared to long time ago when Era was completely dead.
Something for everyone. Only authentic thing I am worried about tomorrow on Fresh is the queue lenght. Prepared for a long wait.

Like what, instan mail, debuff/buff limit removal and dual spec? Yeah, so much stuff its over, since my own char can now recive instant mail this is SoD 2.0.
What was era then when boons, pvp revamp happened? SoD also by your logic.

Are you blind? I literally gave you how popular SOD is. It was actually the most played version 2 weeks ago from all Classics.
SOD is very successful, like it or not. I mean if it wasn’t , you do know that they would of stop long ago to release Phases.
